In what way does your game fit the theme?
You can rewind the cave / bullets to find suitable and faster paths to complete the level's objectives
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, me and my team are the authors to the code, art and music.

Great and unique game!
When I started the game I started on medium mode, and didn't know what to do. I think you should have called them stages or levels, so players won't skip the tutorial.
Other than that I enjoyed the game.
Really cool game that fits perfectly to the theme! I also loved the art style of the game, as well as the music and sound effects!
Really like the idea and the artstyle!!
I found the difficulty extremely hard. Played in easy and couldn't get past level 1-5 after more than 20 tries. :o Most of the times (at least for me), the gems would appear in very bad places, and required to wait and hope for a road to open ahead, being hit or dying in the process, as there's no way to predict where lava is spawning.
Maybe if there where more than one gem or if they changed positions after some seconds, it would help balance the difficulty a little more. :)
I enjoyed the game tho, I believe it has pontential!
That is one of the aspects of the design of the game, given it's randomness, you'll have to wait sometimes more, sometimes less in order to get a road towards that gem. Also, there are ways to predict where lava spawns, specially the proximity sensor to the left and the fact that lava usually appears next to already existing lava.
Thanks for playing, I really appreciate it!
The idea is nice but the lava comes to fast and the art is great
That's why you need to use the rewind! Thanks for playing it, I really appreciate it :D
sorry i havent see you can
Ohh! Well, try it again. You will enjoy the game much more!
Really cool use of the mechanics, and quite difficult too, in a good way. Great job!
Thanks a lot!
This is a dastardly difficult game and I mean that in the best way possible. I'm not a bullet hell person but it was extremely fun dodging both the bullets and the lava and whatever else was thrown at me. The rewind mechanic is fun as well, but it is a little too forgiving as compared to the rest of the game. The graphics and audio both add a lot to the game, and it's surprising how much content this game has- three difficulty settings with five levels each. There are no bugs as far as I can tell, a lot of work clearly went into this game. The difficulty is a little unbalanced though- the levels don't cleanly escalate in difficulty. Some hard levels are easier than the final easy level, for instance. Overall, this is an amazingly well designed game and the game does a magnificent job teaching the mechanics without hand-holding.
Thanks a lot! I did want to make the difficulty ramp a bit like a sawblade (_/|_/|_/ kinda), having the higher numbered levels being harder than the easier ones. I wanted to ensure that the player would master the mechanics, and specially got some practice with rewind, so that whenever new turrets or different level designs appeared, the player could handle themselved easily. It's more of a set of levels and mechanics than a continuous flow of gameplay from 1 to 15, that's why the levels are both separated in 3 different menus and why completing level 1-5 doesn't take you to 2-1.
I'm glad you had fun with it, thanks for playing!
Yo’ Templar here,
Very neat game, both art, and sfx fit great into the gameplay, and the rewind mechanic is well executed.
That's great to hear! Thanks a lot for giving our game a try!
Ok now this is game design... really interesting idea and done really well. I love that i feel really smart for planning ahead where i will rewind and let the lava flow. The fact you have to be quick with your fingers aslo adds to how good you feel when you beat a level. Awesome game!
Thanks a lot! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. <3
This feels like one of the more weirder entries (at least to my point of view - take it how you will), First the positives:
1) The game on its own, is actually pretty fun! As a bullet-hell player myself, it's.. not really a bullet hell (as how you describe it on discord haha) - but it does have some elements of having to dodge bullets and the lava on the ground. Despite the weird random nature that can occasionally be infuriating - there were also moments where I can go, "hold on, theres a weird pattern" and I could exploit that to get to the gems.
2) Great overall game feel - this is something I'm still learning to achieve and I think you did it justice here! For example, I personally like your sound integrations into hit, gem pick up, etc and the appropriate sound effect for them. Did you make those sound effects too - may I know which program? Very well done!
3) The controls feel very smooth, responsive - a crucial element to a high-stakes game such as this.
The reason as to why I think this is also a weird entry is:
1) I don't think you needed the time rewind mechanic to complete the game. Because the time rewind mechanic seems to introduce a few inconsistencies, and also detracts from the supposed charm of the game, while rewinding - the turrets stop firing bullets, and bullets that were gone - do not rewind from the point of destruction, so essentially rewinding time becomes a "grace period". Maybe that was your intentional game design - so I wont press further.
But I meant that from a game design perspective - I felt like your game is quite complete without a time rewind mechanic.
Regardless though - great game! I played through medium mode and it was very much challenging, and also very fun to beat! A pleasant sight from start to finish and if you expand on the game - I'll be on the lookout!
Cheerios!
Hey! Thanks a lot for the thorough review, they're always welcome!
First, I know it's not the typical bullet hell and it maybe shouldn't be called as such, but it does involve some bullet-hell like mechanics with the turrets so that's why I addressed it as such (also because bullet-hell is more attention-drawing than random-lava-avoider lmao)
Second, the music was done in FL Studio 20, but I did one or two sond effects in bfxr, which is a simple but convenient tool to make 8-bit sound effects and which I really recommend using for this kind of sfx.
And about the rewind mechanic, you actually get punished in several ways for using it, the most relevant being that the turret's fire rate goes up to balance it against them not shooting while you're rewinding. I ended up nerfing this a lot, but it can still be seen pretty easily if you play levels like 3-2
Thanks a lot for giving it a try, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The base idea is may be simple, but you did a great job introducing variations to keep it fresh. The theme is very well used as part of the core mechanics of the game, and it is often needed. I'm also a fan of this kind of random generation, even though it can be a bit frustrating a times. I feel like the game gets a bit too erratic at the hardest levels, and it's really hard to keep track of everything. Did you beat it yourself?
Yeah, I did beat it myself and I had some people in my discord server playtest it as well, they said it was hard but doable. It was much harder before, and I did have to nerf it a few times. It's quite hard to get it right, but I think overall I did a great job at it.
Also, I know it can be a bit frustrating but I think it's also part of the charm, trying to "outsmart" the noise. There's some patterns that you end up catching after a bit of playtime, but they're not trivial at all.
Thanks a lot for playing, and thanks for the feedback!
Awesome Game!
You guys really polished this up well.
Audio/graphics/gameplay all very nice.
Great job.
Thank you!
Loved the graphics! The rewind effect was really neat too.
very fun game!!
Thanks a lot :D
I really enjoyed the game, though I had to download it as the web version wouldn't work (I couldn't even control the character)
Yeah, it's my first time building for WebGL and I already knew there were some problems with resolution, but I had no idea about the control one. Glad you enjoyed it, though! Thanks a lot for playing!
This game has great music and rewind visual effect. The only thing I don't like is lava spawning. Sometime it spawned right at the character position, make it hard to complete the game
Yeah, but that's part of the level design. You also need to beware of big empty parts which will soon have lava, as well as using the bar at the left. It is what it is with this kind of randomness, I've tried to implement that mechanic to reduce the effect, but it doesn't happen that often and it doesn't take too long to get back on track and try the level again. Sorry for that though, I'll try to think of a better way to tackle this kind of problem in the future. Thanks for playing!
Wow, great game! Nice visuals, especially the UI. How did you do the lava's flow? Cellular automata?
Thanks! I used a noise map and the time was the z axis, then for every level the resolution, x/y/z speed and the threshold were varied so as to make it easier or harder. There's a lot of game that can be made playing with that, and it was really fun setting it up!
Really great game! Love the art!
Thanks! Really appreciate it ^^
A fun game! I really like the generation and art! If you have any extra time, please try my game!
Yooo! Thanks :D I will do so right now <3
Amazing work! Everything feels really polished from lava generation to animations and UI and music
Thank you! I really appreciate that ^^
