In what way does your game fit the theme?
You go back and forth in time, thus "rewind" to solve puzzles.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Code, art and sfx were made during the jam. The music was downloaded from the internet.

The graphics and idea are fantastic! Great game, plus I love how it is based on the chicken and the egg!
Ahah thank you! I mostly post my art on Twitter, I didn't think about linking it here since I thought about the Game Jam first, do let me know if you're interested to see more! We spent a lot of time thinking about what game to make so we're happy you liked it!
This is by far the best game I've played in this game jam. Top notch art style, great level desing, intelligent core mechanic and exploding time-rewinding chickens. Excellent job!
Ahah, loving the review, it means a lot to us and to me in particular, it's my first game jam! I hope to do even better next time.
I really like the idea of having different abilities to use cleverly in order to advance! (Even though I got confused with them in the beginning too, just like riko said.) The art is amazing and meshes well with the sfx, only issue is that the music is too quiet in comparison to the sounds, so either the sfx blasts my ears or the music is barely noticeable. But overall, great Game!
Yep I realized this today testing the game on another computer, lesson learnt: try the game on multiple computers with different specs! We'll definitely add more audio balance and up the player experience, thank you for the in-depth feedback and enjoying our take on the "rewind" theme!
I was initially confused on how the game mechanic works, but once I figured it out the game became a lot more fun! I think you should definitely let the player know how the game works as it would be confusing to new players. The graphics and the SFX are cool too! Great job!
My feelings exactly, even if we came up with the mechanics I'm still confused playing/making my own levels, I wish we'd have spent more time on the user experience, at least lesson learnt for the next time! Thank you for enjoying the graphics/sfx, the coding was pretty top notch too for such a short amount of time.
Very fun game.
Means a lot for so many submissions, thank you!
Cool concept
Well thanks for that! We'll do even better next time, maybe spend more time on the user experience so it's clearer to new players!
The puzzles were really good and also the intrepretation of the theme. Hope you give feedback to mine as well
Will do! I'm Glad you liked the puzzles!
It was a really pretty game, art style really reminded me of Stardew. The puzzles were challenging which kept my attention.
Perfect! We wanted to make more levels but couldn't make it in time! Happy to know it was a pretty game to you!
that was a nice relaxing puzzle game. nice man i like it alot
like the age thing as part of your puzzle. it just took me a second or too understand it but it is a nice play game
Glad you enjoyed it! We'll make the mechanics of the game clearer next game jam!
Pretty neat game, congrats for you guys xD
Check my team's submission if you can ^^
Thanks! Will do but can't rate since Paku is the one who submitted the game! I'll be sure to tell you what I thought about it :)
The them is well implemented, the idea of the age of the chicken connected with the steps is great.
I really enjoy your game.
My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks
Glad you enjoyed the game! Unfortunately I can't rate games since Paku is the one who uploaded (my duo) but I will definitely check it out!
The sound design and music is awesome! The art is amazing too :) I am super confused about the mechanic, though. I really have no clue what it is. If you could explain the mechanic to me I'll update my review ;)
Glad you liked the assets! About the mechanic I imagine you refer to the steps? If you walk to the left you get younger, right you get older. Each stage (age) has its pros and cons (well some more cons than others). Stage 1: Egg, can't move except right, breaks if falling (or bumped by pads). Stage 2: Little chick, you can crawl through tunnels, can't push rocks though. Stage 3: Adult, can push rocks but can't crawl through tunnels. Stage 4: Old chick, dies from falling/bumping from pads, can't push rocks, can't use tunnels or pads, basically you're close from dying.
If you meant explaining the reasoning behind it, we had a cutescene we had to delete (because Webgl didn't work out for our version of unity). The cutscene showcased an egg getting imbued by some sort of green potion giving powers, which allowed the chicken to get younger and older, we didn't have a story set in stone but a general direction to be sure!
I hope this all clears it out for you, if my answer was unfortunately too chaotic then I hope you enjoyed the game regardless! Thanks for reading :)
Yeah, you should really add that info to your itch page. I had no idea what the mechanics were. Overall, great game! It was a fun entry :)
A really neat puzzle mechanic! It was interesting how all of life cycle stages worked (I don't know if the elder chicken had any special ability though) I see a lot of potential in building on the forms! The music and visuals are clear so it made every action noticeable. Introducing new gameplay elements with simple levels and then testing the player with more complex levels is excellent game design. I appreciate the show not tell direction with that.
The only issue I had was the lack of a level select, and perhaps a score threshold on the results screen
Man, you summarized what I missed from the game myself, I have the same approach with the "show, don't tell" for puzzle games, loving your take on it! I'm thinking about taking this game to mobile or at least steam with more levels, mechanics and a red thread to follow some sort of story to be sure, we'll see!
PS: That lack of level select and score threshold, man exactly my thoughts like I said ahah! Thanks for the feedback and enjoying our game!
This is great, the mechanic needs a bit of explaining but is super clever once you figure it out. The art and sound effects are amazing too, it all made a really coherent game that I like a lot!
You finding this game coherent is awesome, glad we made some sense in all that game design chaos ahah, I'll take a closer attention to the way we explain things in the future to be sure.
This is a really cool game! It took me a bit to get used to how to play and why I was dying, but once it started making sense it was really fun. The art is awesome too.
Thanks for the feedback! I learnt a lot about designing around the player, I will do a better job next time to be sure!
It was really fun to play and the artwork is beautiful.
Well hello there and thanks for the good words, warms my heart and dries Paku's tears after intense coding!
I really like the art style and mechanics!, I suggest you add a tutorial level to introduce the player to the mechanics. Other than that such a cool game. Hope you check mine too https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722968
Definitely, we had this feedback quite a bit, we didn't spend enough time teaching the players the mechanics and threw them into the wolves den, I will polish it more next time and make it a learning experience rather than a trial by fire! I can't rate your game unfortunately (Paku is the one who posted the game) but will surely check it out!
Loved the puzzles! I thought the SFXs were a bit too loud, but it's a really good game. Great job !
Rated!
I definitely need to learn more about sound design and sound balance, thanks for the feedback and playing the game!
This is the best one I've played so far. Great job!
This means a lot since there are tons of games in this jam, wishing you the best (your icon looks solid by the way!)
Well, thank you! :D
Loved the game in general. The graphics, art style and music are really good. The presentation of the levels and menu were super correct too. Unfortunately I had the problem with the resolution (due to my screen being 1400x900, but we had 7 days, so I'm not going to count that! I'm only missing a little explanation about the whole movement count as I was confused a bit at the start. But overall, really good job, congrats!
I'm glad you were being nice on us for the resolution! Yes the movement was hella confusing for me too, I expected this comment and actually wanted it to confirm my suspicions, I did an intro cinematic to kinda explain why/how this was happening but unity didn't like us putting this .mp4 file into the game 10 hours before release (we have an older 2019 version, not 2020 which fixes this), I called the shot to drop it and so be it. Thanks for confirming my doubts though, I'm glad to learn more, thanks to the feedback!
