Beautiful. Smooth fun game, nice graphics, good audio, you nailed the theme. Everything was great. Awesome job people !
Wow, this game is soo cool. One of the bests in the jam. Gameplay fits perfectly to theme. And you even recorded sound for it.
Really liked it. Its entertaining and soothing. A little hard to coordinate the movements at first, haha.
I'm really impressed with the story, gameplay and whatever I should "judge".
For me... this is the best so far. Congratulations.
Thank you, that is really nice to hear!
I already said this on the game page but I'll paste it here just in case:
It is a very good game! Atmospheric, calm, meditative, trance-inducing (aka daydream-inducing), calming... Did I already say that?
Just kidding! Anyways, the only con I know of is I couldn't hear the voice around 4 minutes into the video but I heard what M_DC said all the other times during editing, though.
Nice ambient music
Great graphics
Feels very polished
There’s a sound effect that plays in the background over and over but I’m not really sure what it is. I think it might be the wings flapping but it’s a bit distracting
This was very good. I especially liked the art style.
Thanks for showing me the game and is this your story? Oh it would be cool if i have some indication for the health :) Good job!
Thanks god, this is not our story and also your connection between characters is also your health bar, that's why, if you die, it snaps! Glad you liked the game!
I can agree to everything that has been set on this thread already. It's a great game, especially the graphics (kinda reminding me of Limbo) and music. Very atmospheric, also. The story is amazingly integrated into the environment, but the player mechanic is not. Maybe some sort of puzzles were you need to use it would have been nice. But I guess it's a game jam. Well done!
That was a very somber story. I like the transition near the end when the background starts to glow red, which signals the bad news that's about to come. The graphics are very well done, and the gameplay is calming and relaxing.
The narrator's voice could be upped a little, or the music should be decreased while the narrator is talking. It was a little hard to hear her story, which was the most interesting part of the game for me. The enemy hitboxes could also be increased slightly, as I often found my bullets barely whiffing.
Great short game, I enjoyed playing it.
I like the simple gameplay and art.
You guys did a really great job on the graphic and music! The game build up a strong atmosphere from the start.
Collecting bullets and shooting enemies are nice. I like the idea of having the life represented by the distance of the souls. Yet I think the feedback of getting hit by the monster can be improved. Maybe adding a shaking with red screen can help, or bouncing the monster out a bit when hit so the monster don't feel like always move toward to you. The tutorial texts can be put with more spacing as to give user to digest and testing.
Overall, the game is very well-polished. It is enjoyable to play with.
Great game i absolutly loved it. The only negative thing that i have to say is that sometimes the music was too loud and overshadowing the voicelines.
Great game! I loved having to switch character to move up or down, the relaxed vibe, the graphics, the audio, the story.. Everything about it really :)
I am giving 5/5 on everything. For me the main highlight is how the level design is connected to the story but it's not pushed forcefully onto the player, it's up to the player to notice it. The mechanics are also really satisfying, they are quite new to me, but far from confusing, after a few seconds you are sure to figure it all out. The music is also really good, simple, but that's how it should be, since it very well compliments the visuals and the general feel of the game. I don't even know what to really improve, other than the obvious stuff for a game jam - adding more content, adding more polish etc. I did once get stuck under the terrain, so maybe check the collision shapes to make sure there aren't any holes in them. Great great job, would love to see a full version of this
Thank you so much for your comment, its really motivating to see something like this, if someone is having fun playing your game , just like you had making it.
Very good relaxing game. I like the minimalist artstyle and the story was nice too.
Hey, great game, loved the simplistic art style, I especially love the character animation.
The art is beautiful and the background music fits very well. The idea behind the controls is interesting but I think it would shine more if you had designed the level around the controls more (some puzzles that force you to switch, maybe navigating some enemies). Also, I personally found the story told through the narration a little too cliched and the fact that there was narration took me out of the game a little. Maybe just sticking to the visual storytelling which you do very well would have been the better option.
I really like the movement mechanics. I have never seen a game like this before and i really enjoyed exploring the level
A really beautiful game, with good theming, and solid gameplay. I enjoyed playing this game and wish there was more. Well done
It would be cool if you could check out my game too and give it a rating. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/925013
I'll try to check yours out as well, we actually considered making a steam release out of that, so if you really want more.. ;)
I full game of that seems like so much fun! I 100% support a steam release. Maybe just adding a bit more gameplay!
