Nice work with this game. Good graphics and fun design.

It's always fun to raise an army of minions.

The controls and mechanics were a bit confusing at the start but could be figured out.

Well done!

Developer

I really should have given the controls more attention because everyone seems to get lost with them at first. Thank you for the wonderful comments!

I really liked the game. Nice graphics and mechanics. Felt like a nice fun short experience.

I had a some issues with getting extra minions, so my end result was just to run past all the slimes to the portal (is this the end of the game? I believe so because I ended up back on the main menu).

I really liked the using the skull to block the incoming fire to get past, that was a really well done mechanic.

One question for you, when you added the music, had you been listening to it through headphones at all?

The music seems to be in mono, and only present in the left channel, so only hear-able with one ear. This is easily fixable with an audio editor like audacity if the audio is in mono.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the great comment :)

I wanted to implement a proper boss fight after the portal! Like a giant(er) slime. But sadly I wasn't able to implement it anymore in the time.

I had a hard time differentiating layer masks and layer collisions, but I think I get them through in the end... I think...

Oh thank you for that note on the music. I did not use headphones, I kind of just added in the music. I didn't know any of those Audio tricks so thank you! Certainly something for me to keep in mind moving forward.

Nice short game, I like the cute minions. The minions seem to struggle to hit moving enemies though, making it kinda difficult to play.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, honestly the minions are a big mess. They're the most complicated thing that I coded, so they are probably the buggiest part of the game.

Building a minion army is quite fun

Developer

Haha yes it is :) It's why I made the game!

Submitted(+1)

I love the movement for the character it feels super smooth and building up the little army of minions is super cute :) Great game!

Developer

Yes!! The larger the army the better mwahahahaha :D Thank you for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! Like some other people said, communicating the state in which state the minions are would be very nice! :)

Developer

Thank you! Will definitely fix that up after the jam :)

Submitted(+1)

Super cool idea - I love the artwork and overall feel. I see you mentioning giving the minions some sort way to communicate their current state, and I think that would be a very nice addition. I'd definitly play again if you continue working on this.

Developer

Aw thank you for the feedback! The art took me around two entire days to finish up and get the feel I wanted. I am far from content about how the game is right now. I will definitely strive to at least finish some UI and fix up the minion management because thats what the game is entirely about.

Very nice entry! It's interesting as you went for a similar approach to what I had originally intended, but I wasn't confident on being able to get NPCs to follow me correctly in the time frame so had to drop the idea. A nice little slice of gameplay that definitely has potential to be extended upon if you chose to do so. Nice work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! If you find yourself wanting to make a following NPC in any future game I can try to help out :)

Cute little game. Just wish it was longer. I wanted to command my dark army of undead minions :D

Had a bit of a rough start, but after first two minions it gets better.

Developer

Ah sadly I wasn't able to upload the 'longer path' due to internet complications.

You could play the sandbox for a bit and just summon a bunch of minions and beat up some slimes :) That's exactly what its for mwahaha.

Nice! The game looks great and consistent and I really like your minion having the speech bubble. At first I thought I was killing the minion by sending him to the slimes so I just ran past. So maybe some better indication for that point.  Overall a nice game.

Developer

Thank you! Don't worry about the minions, They're already dead (:

Jokes aside, I do agree, the game kinda feels a bit directionless even with the laid out path.

Submitted(+1)

pleasant and nice game. The artistic direction puts us directly in a relaxing atmosphere. The gameplay is interesting because you feel much stronger with your companion. The level design is also built around the companion which makes it very interesting.

Very good work.

ooh so funny story, If you looked at the screenshots on the game page, you'll see some of the first game sprites for Orcen and a minion. I intended it to feel more cartoony and arcadey.

But when I made the tileset and the plants and skulls and such, they just looked so out of place with the slight shading and shadows and such. So Orcen got a makeover to fit the world.

Thank you so much for the feedback :)

What a cute little game about slaughtering a bunch of slimes and resurrecting their bones as your slaves :)

Developer (1 edit)

I noticed you're a fan of slimes too! Hehe. I'm so glad you noticed :) I put a bone in the slime sprite just for that very reason.

Good game! I think it need a bit more of visual feedback, or more intense feedback. But the idea works pretty well and I think it's easily expandable. Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Ah yeah, it does. I wanted to give the little minions tiny rings or outlines so you could easily see what state (attack/idle/"dead') the minions are in. I really wanted to add more minion/enemy varieties too (but I can certainly try to add them after the jam). Thank you so much for the feedback!

Took me a second to fully understand the controls, but once I did it was really enjoyable! Especially liked sending minions to block obstacles for the player. The music really fit well! Nice job on this!

Developer

Yeah, a bit more explanation would have really helped the game, over my really lazy label instructions ;-; Thank you for the wonderful feedback though :)

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea, good music!

Developer

Thank you! The music  is from Anttis Instrumentals. He released a bunch of really great royalty free instrumentals for anyone to use :)

This was a really nice game! It took me a bit to understand that you could grab minions once you defeated a monster but really fun once I got that. Also I don't know how to replicate it, but I found a bug where the character sprite was permanently the red damaged sprite. Other then that great game!

Developer

Aw thank you for the kind words. Yeah... Its a thing with Godot's animation node that I am yet to figure out.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, your game is really great! It took me a second to understand how everything works (Don't know why, because once I got it it made sense), but your graphics are so so cute!

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you! I wanted to make a help menu but I am horrible with menus and UI  (like the default buttons at the start menu HAHA)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Haha, too relatable 😂

nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!! You're game is amazing :)

Submitted(+1)
