I don't have time to write out a real review, but I did stream your game here:

I thought the feel of the game was good because of the art style and the movement of the little firework things. I think sound effects and music would've added a lot and maybe a little animation on the ball character to show movement. I liked how the camera followed the player and zoomed in out. I don't know if I'm stupid, but I didn't get very far, I wasn't entirely sure what the controls were, so maybe a little quick tutorial at the start for us nobs ;) . I think the concept is solid and with a little more time it could really be a great game :) Good effort and keep going!

Developer

I'm not sure which part you got stuck at, but the controls are only the arrow keys (and space in later levels). If you have a flyer that follows you around you can hold down the up arrow key to let the flyer push you up. The levels are mostly go right only. I didn't think a tutorial would really help, as I thought it would be self explanatory, but I see it does not apply to everyone! I'll add more instructions post-jam, thanks for the feedback!

Sweet "cursor" game!  The approach to mechanics is original and the work with the camera is good. The gameplay is longer than you’d expect in the beginning, the overall impression is great.

Developer

Thanks you for playing!

I really like the atmosphere of this game, the music adds perfectly to it. The concept of having the triangles help lift you up fits the theme very well! One thing I noticed, by going back and forth between levels, you can pick up the same flyer multiple times, not sure if this intentional!

Developer(+1)

Good catch! I honestly have not thought that you can get more flyers (it's what I call them) in that way, I'll be sure to change that in an update. Thank you for playing!

I like the flying scene with 4 triangles!

The music, camera switching, and the little triangular things created a GRIS-like vibe. I love it! <3

I wish you could team up with some artist or have more time putting on the graphics. But without that, it's already so enjoyable.

Unfortunately, I had a bug that died under a block and couldn't respawn.

I really enjoy this one. Thank you for submitting this!

Developer(+1)

That's very unfortunate, I'm sorry it happened! There are sometimes weird collisions happening, which I hope to address in the post-jam update. There is a scene at the end of the game that I would like players to reach, as it's basically the flying scene but better. I can't ask you to try it again right now, but hope you do after the jam has ended. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Yes. I will definitely play this again after you updated!

What a great experience, I absolutely love this game! The start was very slow but it all made sense while progressing further through the game. I love the symbolism you've used like being carried by your little companions or that you have to go down first in order to rise. The music gave me goose bumps, the first time flying was incredible and made the crash even more painful - but after all it wasn't the end :) Thank you so much for sharing this game, I'm so glad that I have found this little gem and I absolutely enjoyed every moment of it!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you had a good experience with my game!

At first, I was somewhat bored by the sluggish movements of the main character, but after I got the little companion and started gliding through the level, I realized it was a pretty good implementation.  The music also adds to it nicely, creating a soothing feeling over your entire game.  Good work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you liked it!

Amazing sounds, and color choice. I know the art is mostly geometric figures, but the whole feel of the game is amazing. Congratulations. The weight of the character is frustrating enough that finding the "flyers" is very relieving/rewarding. If you ever make a version 2.0 I'd love to play it.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks, glad you liked it! There will be an updated version after the jam where the bugs are gone.

Really good concept, amazing sound implementation!

This was awesome!

The core mechanic is just so satisfying to play and a brilliant use of music.  Best moment when you get the ability to fly combined with the music.

The softlock bug is a pity.

After all I really enjoyed this and hope you keep working on it.

Developer

Glad you liked it! I just wanna thank past me for designing the levels so it can still be finished without using the mechanic.

Was a nice atmospheric game, really liked what you did with simple art and music to make it a nice experience. The movement could have been a bit faster for me and I was sometimes wondering where I was supposed to go and what the goal of the game was. (and I got stuck at some point and my character wouldn't move anymore) but yeah, overall nice game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Thanks for the feedback, and sorry that you got stuck. I know the problem and there is a way around it, so you should be able to finish the game.

I am big a fan of the music, appreciated how you implemented the piano for those floaters (don't know what you call them). Also maybe it's just me, but I got lost at one point and ended up off in a dead end. So  might need work on how you direct the player in some places (I found my way eventually though so nbd). Atmospheric experience!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback!

A very creative and cool concept, loved the way you play but the jumps feels a bit heavy, but the arrow things helping you ascend, i loved, i also loved the piano notes of the arrows and the soundtrack is incredibly beautiful. I also couldn't finish the game because when the white box crushed me, the game soft locked and i couldn't move forward. I also find the game a bit easy, i died a few times but not that much.  Despite some heavy controls, not that much of a challenge and that soft lock at the end, i loved the game, very enjoyable ^^

Developer

Glad that you liked it! Even despite the big game breaking bug. Sorry it happened!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool concept. The end is very fun and it's super satisfying when you gather new things but the beginning platformer person doesn't feel that great without any. Also, most of the levels is going down.

Developer

Now that you say it, sone levels do go down a lot. Thanks for playing!

Excellent game. I felt the same emotional swells in certain parts that I did in games like Abzu. I love the art style and music, and flying around with the flyers feels so wonderful.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I loved abzu as well, and wanted to do something like it. Glad you had some similarities with it!

An amazing game! The soundtrack and dynamic camera movement created an awesome atmosphere.

Unfortunately I got stuck at the end of the game, my flying companions held up the last slamming block of a level and did not return to me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well, I could not pinpoint the problem as it does not happen very often when tested and ran out of time to fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Submitted

No problem, I still enjoyed playing the game a lot :) For debugging: it seemed like when I got too far from the slamming white block which the flyers were attached to it got de-selected (didn't have the option to press space on it) and I could not re-select it either because it was too high up for me to be able get next to it, and so the flying companions were unable to be called back. From that I think the problem lies with the way selecting and de-selecting of the white blocks works.

I hope this helps you fix the bug a little easier if you want to keep working on the game :)

I was really confused at first but once i ran into the flying thing the theme all made sense, well done

Submitted(+1)

I like the little things flying around. They create a lot of vibe.

It was a bit slow at the beginning but that is fine (my game is also slow at the start haha). I really liked it though and it kept me going until the end! Find my video review below:

Thanks! I watched your video and you actually only got halfway! There are some new mechanics after that, so I would appreciate if you could play it again but to the end.

Oh shit you serious?! How did I miss that lol
