I feel like this game is simple, but very well made. I especially appreciated how you used the limited graphic to give the game a very distinct look. The gameplay is mostly smooth, but maybe something like being able to choose what weapon you want to use could be more interesting. Also, I'm pretty sure I encountered a bug where some enemies stopped chasing me and one of them then became non targetable by my attacks.

What this is so good. Really polished. Love the main menu art and the tutorial is very helpful. Would love to see more exploration and be able to keep some of the weapons or at least have a sense of progression? You could easily expand on this idea!

This is the best game I've played this jam. Graphics are nice, music is a banger, and the gameplay is fun and engaging. Perfect score from me, thanks for making this!

Really great game! Music was atmospheric, the weapon patterns made the gameplay varied and it all just came together nicely. The controls were a tiny bit clunky, but worth it. Solid game! Great work!

simple and wonderful idea and such an addictive game...it can be a complete game with a story or additional element with more depth even for pc or mobile...I had a problem that I can't understand how and when and with what style the enemy attacks... which was not obvious in the first step of game...good work

Nice! Made it to wave 10.

Few things I would comment on:

  • Lighting around character is inconvenient and I think it doesn't add anything to the gameplay
  • Why not just right-click to attack? I have to constantly do two clicks: right click to switch modes and then left click to attack
  • It should be clear what your current weapon is doing: I died on wave 10 because I made the first half of the move and planned to kill a nearby enemy with the second, but it turned out that I just got a spear and couldn't attack forward and so I got killed
Developer

Congrats! Reaching wave 10 is not an easy task. About the comments, here's what we thought...
The lighting is not only an aesthetic choice, but it also helps to remove clutter caused by the X marks.
We decided to not use right click so you can see what the range and pattern is on the weapon that you got. If you were to right click, you'd have to guess how it works, and that doesn't make sense.
Lastly, once you start a new wave you get a message on screen saying what weapon you got, and the icon on the top changes. Also, as I just said, you can right click and check what you have before you make any move.
Hope that cleared up any doubts! And thanks for giving the game a go!

Your welcome!

You can constantly slightly highlight cells which player can attack. Attacking is super common, so if anything, I think you should consider making it with one-click.

Cool game! You did the an amazing job with the art and sound. My best was wave 4 with a score of 190, but I'm not sure if that is good... How many waves are there?

Please check out my game too! Chaos Climbing by CosmosPanda (itch.io)

Thank you so much, and great job on the score! If you check the options menu, you can find the dev's high scores so that might tell you what scores to aim for. Also, there is an infinite amount of waves. There is no ending, the only true ending is when you lose all 5 hearts and you die. (pretty morbid lmao) Anyways, thank you so much for playing our game!

Polished fun turn-based game. Kinda wished you could move off the one room and have a dungeon crawler experience along the lines of Binding of Isaac. But over all a tight well developed game jam.

Developer

Hmmm, that could be an idea we could save for the future, who knows 👀

Thank you for the feedback!

Very, very well done. Love the design. The art and music are brilliant. I played the tutorial but probably could have figured out the game without it, which is a good thing!

Ahaha thank you so much! <3

Overall a great game. The only problem I had was that I have other things to do and can't just sit here and play this all day lol.

Very nice game. The combat strategic aspect to felt simple yet it was easy to get hit. The big thing would have loved a full screen option for webGL. Also making me hit a button to go into attack mode was annoying and I didn't see the purpose of it besides an extra step. Over all loved the art and the game play. This is one of those games that if I was waiting on my bus i'd be happy to play in the mean time.

Developer

Wow, thank you for the feedback! The reason the attack mode has to be toggled is due to the different weapon types, to indicate which tiles you can attack and which you can move. There could have been better ways to handle that, but it works I suppose haha.

We're really happy you enjoyed playing, thank you!!

Nice game play, easy to get into and evolving attack mechanics help keep the levels interesting and challenging.  Good job!

Developer

Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed the weapon mechanics :)

This game is incredibly well polished and could probably be released. I couldn't find any real issues with this game.

Developer

Wow, thank you for the positive words!! We have spoken about releasing a mobile port of this game for Android one day, so I guess that release is entirely possible. We're glad you liked the game <3

The art and music are spectacular. However, the gameplay is a bit confusing at first. First of all, I didn't realize you had to right click to attack but I figured it out a bit later.  Also, it's a bit annoying to have to move your mouse all the way over to click on the spaces. Maybe just make it so you use the arrows or the mouse. All in all, great job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, but could you explain what you mean by moving your mouse over to click the spaces? Do you mean clicking the tiles to move the character? Aside from that, thank you for the kind words!
