In what way does your game fit the theme?
You just got fired from you job at a dungeon and now you want revenge by killing the boss and causing some chaos.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made everything except the font and the SFX was made using sfxr.

Never made it to the boss, but had fun trying!

Really cool that you have multiple playable characters and more so that they are unlockable. Also great that they all have different weapons and feel different to play. I managed to clear lots of rooms but it felt like a battle of attrition (at least at my skill level), so I always ended up running out of resources whilst trading hits with the enemies. I wasn't able to dodge that successfully and the aiming offset took a bit of getting used to but those are small complaints. Took me a while to work out I can toggle the map with 'm' (and thus plan a route to the boss visiting the 'pickup' rooms along the way) but I think I just missed it during the tutorial. Definitely cool that you included a map though, it gives the game a more tactical element! Graphics wise it would have been great if you could make the enemy weapons more distinctive so the player can easily recognise them. I like the cube characters and that you gave the playable ones distinct features.

The SFX and music were both great and its cool that you managed to incorporate a whole backstory, I find the premise interesting (so I would love to find out what happens after beating the boss).

Thx for playing my game and giving me some constructive criticism! I'm happy that you enjoyed the characters and I do agree with you that the enemies were a bit too similar but sadly I didn't have enough time to think of some interesting character designs for them since the visuals are simplistic and just adding details seemed to make things worse but it can have ways for me to differentiate them more if I had more time to do some trial and error with the design. The attrition factor wasn't that much of an issue for me when I play tested it but it's sort of my fault for not getting other people to playtest my game since my experience playtesting is different from other people. I'm still happy that your able to enjoy my game and I'll make sure to learn from my mistakes when I'm making my next one!

You bet your a** I did. And 2 times! Once with Average Joe and again with Tanky Lilly.

Very entertaining dungeon game! I had more fun with Average Joe. I think the battles were more balanced with him. With Lilly was fun too shooting the minigun, but it was impossible to make a few screens without having to use the medikits, cause she's super slow moving.

I'm glad the game saves your progress, cause I accidentally close the browser after completing the game with Joe. Points on that!

Also the story is fun, and the dream of every employee :)

Great work! Congratulations!

Edit: Forgot to mention. I remember you game "Slime Island" from the last jam. I've defeated the Big Boss Slime back then :)

Developer(+1)

Wow! Thank you so much for playing my game and completing the game. The game does need some balancing which I do agree on. Its really nice to see that you enjoyed it enough to beat it twice :) Also I just realised that your also the creator of brotherhood of the dragon from the last jam. Its nice to see you participating in this one too. Thx for playing both of my games. I enjoyed both of your games too! Good luck on this jam and the future ones to come!

The Best and Most Sophisticated AI I've ever played with. I have So much fun Playing this, I mean how you make the knife guy dodge your bullets while slowly gaining on you is a amazing. And the Mechanics.... Simple yet so much fun to play with. love the grenade slowmo. The Clever Level Design where you need to plan which order of room you need to go to... there's a speed run opportunity.  Overall Brilliantly Polished and Amazing Game.. Well Done Sir 👍

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thx for the kind words and playing my game.  I'm happy that you enjoyed the AI since I put lots of effort into not making it boring. I do agree that there is speedrun potential (I think the knife character will be the best option for speedrunning). Very happy you enjoyed it and good luck to you :D

Hey, that was pretty fun. It'd be cool to see  gamepad twin-stick-shooter-style bindings. I like the fluid transitions between rooms, and the fluid movement of the enemy. I can't really explain why, but watching these guys move was very satisfying, compared to  other jam entries. The game's definitely too hard for me, but I'm a wimp. If my dude fired twice as often, I  bet I'd have a better chance. :).  The slow motion during grenade placement was a clever touch and much appreciated. I don't think I ever used the dodge/roll/sprint move to my advantage. Seemed like  I was sprinting forward when I meant to sprint backward for some reason. Overall though, really cool and fun to play.

Hi, Your game is really cool. Specially the mechanics, loved them.

I'd love you to play mine. Its unique platformer and top-down blending. This is my first jam BTW.  Please check the gameplay, I bet you will love the challenge when you play by yourself.

Really good game! I like the idea and it could be made into a great game:)

Pretty good! I wish there were gun pickups. That first guy's gun is painfully slow at times with all the enemies in the room. Very neat that the AI would swerve around making it hard to hit them.

Thx for playing and for writing the constructive criticism! My thought process of making this was as the person plays the game more interesting characters will unlock but now after the jam and thinking about this I definitely agree with you there. Making the first character too boring can put people off at the beginning before they unlock the other more interesting ones. Thanks for the advice and I'm happy that you enjoyed the AI :D

Very well done. The ai especially.

Very cool and fun game. Loved the enemy AI, they don't chase you linearly and seem to navigate around the walls pretty well. May I ask how did you create it?

Overall the game is very well made and quite polished, well done!

Developer

Thx for playing and enjoying the enemy AI. I tried to make the AI somewhat interesting and not go towards the player and its cool that your interested in it.

Knife AI - instead of going towards the player it has a separate target that they pathfind to which is the players position with an offset so that the AI don't go directly to the player and instead has a chance of trying to attack from the sides or behind.   Shotgun and pistol AI - they have similar AI so I grouped them together,  they go towards the player until they are within range and have a line of sight of the player. Once these thing are met then they will shoot and they will have a new target at a random position close to them so they don't stand still after they try to shoot you and instead tries to give an illusion of dodging your bullets. Machine gun AI - the simplest in my opinion, they will pathfind towards the player then they will stop when they are in range, they will continue shoot at the same position without moving until your out of the range or they need to reload.

I'm happy that you took interest in the inner workings of the game and your game was fun too! Good luck on the jam :D

The AI was very impressive to watch. I like how they don't just chase you they swerve and wait for a good opportunity to get you.

I had fun with this game. Great job.

Hello. I have to say that your game is really enjoyable... I had fun. The music do not like me but the game idea is fun, very dynamic and I like the idea of throw grenades and heal the character. Good job.
