Beautifully done game! I loved the different levels, and the caves themselves looked really good. It's how much time does it take you to draw these assets? On a side note, I love seeing Kenny's assets in games, it makes me happy whenever I see someone know him. Also, would you be interested in BEING the bullet hell? Our game features you doing something similar, so I'd love it if you could rate it for us :D

In what way does your game fit the theme?
It's a bullet hell with objective capturing and a collapsing cave escape upon claiming the objectives.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Everything other than the music and font was created by me, the music was purchased from a Humble Bundle and was originally created by Dark Fantasy Studio, then modified by me to fit the game better. The font was downloaded from Kenny.nl.

Thanks! The art was all done basically last minute at like, 3 in the morning, so I'm really happy it came out as well as it did seeing that I was half asleep and burnt out lol. Kennys stuff is great, I used to personally be against using assets for stuff I could just do myself but his stuff is just so helpful, especially when doing something time restrictive like this. I'll make sure to check your game out when I get the chance!
Solid gameplay, visuals, and sound. I think difficulty scales well considering I got to levels with three crystals without feeling the game too unfair.
The only thing I can think of is that some explanation in-game would've been nice. At first I didn't return to the exit after mining the crsytal and thought the gameplay consisted on evading the falling rocks hehehe but a quick read from the game page got me through just fine and I really enjoyed your game.
Nice work! :)
Yeah, after watching some people play it outside of the jam I realized that even with the little arrows and 'Q' prompt things weren't explained super well, a short tutorial or how to play is something I'm adding to the post-jam version. I probably should've added an arrow to direct you back to the exit to try and get that across but I just didn't think about it at the time lol. Appreciate the rate!
Just played yours. It was fun. Some critics are.
- I expected more levels to come.
- The game juice was missing. ( i.e particles effects)
- I was expecting power ups.
But overall, loved the graphics, audio and the chaos.. Best of luck.
I'd love you to have a look at mine too. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1177946
Happy developing.
Yeah, the juice was something that I unfortunately ran out of time with, but I'm adding stuff like that for a post jam version. Honestly I hadn't even thought about different tile sets or power ups outside of a store, that could be interesting. If I go that far I'm probably going to remake it though, the jam versions codebase is a mess lol. Thanks for the rate, I'll check yours out when I get a chance!
A very cheery and cool shooter game! The difficulties scaled right. Would be nice if I could upgrade my weapon.
Hey! Very nice, fast-paced shooter. Well done for completing the jam.
What the hell this game is so chaotic to play, it's not like the theme was "let there be chaos".
Seriously, great stuff, really solid gameplay that was well thought out. it's clear you had an intention and achieved it. Great job, i'd love to hear what you think of my entry.
The game is chaotic alright!
I harvested one crystal and then all hell broke loose!
I couldn't survive one level. I think the game's too hard...
Once I pressed Q button too far from the crystal, a floating isle appeard in the air and in the console a lot of those kept flooding:
SCRIPT ERROR: _physics_process: Invalid get index 'global_position' (on base: 'Nil').
But the graphics were ok, there was a music and gameplay was there.
Yeah, unfortunately balancing out the difficulty is something I didn't do enough before submitting. Thanks for reporting that, I thought I had fixed that issue but apparently not. I'm polishing and fixing what bugs I found and updating it post jam, hopefully with a web version as well. Appreciate it!
Cool art style. Good choice with bullet genre, it fits the theme very well
Wow, it was extremely fun experience! Game is very polished, although i've encountered bug where harvester wasn't placed on nest, and i couldn't move forward, but it should be easy to fix. Other than that adding more weapons or any boosts might be a good idea. You did a terrific job, really greatly done! :)
Thanks, I appreciate it! Yeah the harvesters can get a little funky, especially when there's a couple nests close together. The end goal was to have a store in between deaths for permanent upgrades, actually having animations, and a few bits of polish, but I had to cut a lot of the scope back due to time
