Love what you've done to the theme, and the assets and audio. I had fun exploring the rooms and it really feels like I'm preparing to fight every time I'm in the dojo. Great work!

This game is awesome! The second boss was tough until I realized I could restock on shurikens in the dojo haha! Great work!
Im glad you liked it. The second boss should drop them but there is a bug that stops it some times

Bonus points for voiced acting! Loved it - feels like a very complete concept that could easily be turned into a full game. The sword strike was a bit loud/needed to turn the volume down a bit, but other than this it was a great experience. Hope you get more ratings because this deserves to be ranked and Im sure it will rank very well.

I'm pretty sure I played your game in a wowiegamejam before! I know for sure I follow you on twitter for game dev xD but ignoring that, I'm obsessed with how good those first few moments are, the visuals/voice acting/controls all of it set up such an amazing impression. The gameplay was great and this is definitely one of the games I've rated the absolute highest, my only complaint is the final boss fight I had to have exactly the right amount of throwing stars to defeat in the second phase or I had to jump off and restart. I spent a total of 3 minutes waiting for more ammo to drop and it didn't and this happened twice. Does this ruin the game? No not at all, I really really like this game and how it feels and just dang. I love your pixel art so much yo!
hey thanks so much for the wonderful review. My entry to wowie was Android negotiator. The second boss has a bug that stops it dropping star refill unfortunately so sorry about that. I completely ran out of time 🤦♂️🙉 I originally planned to have 3 bosses and that second boss should have 4 states... I'll finish the game after the jam is over 😆
Great game, love the art and how you made the dojo room as a little tutorial to get to know the controls. The first boss fight felt a bit long since the boss was invincible so long. All in all, well done!

Really awesome game! So much detail and work for one week's time! The art style is what drew me in and then the music and the voice acting were top notch! I like that you had varied weapons and everything felt smooth on my end! I also really like your color palette for the game! Great job!

This is really good! I like the idea, the music and the art.
A couple of things that jumped out at me:
The damage/kill noise of the enemies varies in volume. It appears to be random and the loud ones are much too loud. At first I thought it was distance related (louder the closer they are to the player when he attacks them) but that was not the case.
I couldnt tell how and when weapons replenished. It appeared to be at a random time and a random number of thowing stars which was a bit disorienting.
The second level was punishingly difficult compared with the first and the restart loop is a bit long. (Takes too long to respawn in the bedroom and walk across and restart the next level).
Coyote time would have been a nice touch :)
But I really enjoyed the variation in the enemies and the levels you created, the sfx were satisfying and the game loop is definitely fun, especially the close vs long distance combat.

One of my favourite games I have played so far in this jam. There are so many things that I like about it that it would be impossible to name them all. But like all good games, there is always room for improvements, especially when developing on a tight time schedule. So here are some of my suggestions:

I really like the game and it is very impressive, that you got this done in just one week! Personally I found it a bit annoying, that you had to use K and L for the combat, I think if you would have used Left and Right Mouse Button it would have been a lot more intuitive! But overall great game!
hey thanks for the feedback. I actually set it up with mouse to start with but couldn't decide on a mouse icon (didn't want the default arrow) also I felt that people may get confused thinking that they could throw stars in the direction of the cursor (which I also started with but it didn't look right with the animation) so in the end I settled with buttons. LoL. Thanks for playing.

I really like the art, but I'm bad at the actual fighting, so I wasn't able to kill the boss. :D
This one has a lot of atmosphere. One of the bests I played so far. As a father it really catched me emotionally.
I really like the color palette and the overall graphical astethic!
