How does you game fit the theme?
The platform levels of this Game Boy game take place in the dream world of the main character.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I did write all the code myself. Game design, pixelart and music.
Everything was shown live on twitch.tv/tronimalgb

Hey! So great to see the finished game after watching you build it. The chipper chip music and the challenging platforming mate so well together. Love it! (TooTicky2)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! :)
I also took a look at your game in stream, it was way too fast for me, but I really really loved the paper-cut art! So good and so unique!

Submitted(+1)

I like that! :) The graphics and the audio were the things which made me playing for some time.  Very cute! :) Otherwise it's too hard for me.

Developer

Thank you so much! :)
I though about adding two different difficulty options to choose from, but couldn't add that within the 7 days.

Really cute game boy game! Thanks for watching at https://twitch.tv/hedgein <3

Developer

Thanks a lot!
Glad I found your stream! :)

I like this a lot. Like BuckySide said, it's very polished. You scoped the project out perfectly to get everything in that is needed for a full idea to be realized.

I love the music & SFX. I love the classic GameBoy graphics. Some of the jumps were hard and on a first playthrough I couldn't finish the second level, but punishing platformers are good!

I'd love to see more levels and see this idea get expanded on.

Note: Anyone playing on a 60% keyboard where you have function keys for arrows, most emulators will let you remap the controller buttons!

Developer

Thank you so much! :)

Yeah, I was really lucky with my schedule as well. Everything went really close to plan.
I thought of making an easy mode, by changing only the width a player could jump, but 7 days weren't enough to get that in.
I might give that game an update with some more features.

A very polished game, so cool to get a throwback of the good old game boy days back. Everything is picture perfect and such a nice game. One that doesn't cause any stress for a change after playing a lot of other games :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! :)

I'm still thinking about expanding this game, instead of going back to my main project immediately.

Ooh! I love that you used GB studio! It's always great to see games made with an older style! I really liked how you were able to implement a cutscene in there! Super impressive considering the limitations of the engine! One thing I might say about the platforming is that it's a little finicky with the GB studio controls, so I would suggest possibly making the platforms closer together? It could also be that I just suck though XD Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! :)

I wanted to include an easy mode with slightly altered physics, to make the jumps easier by changing only the width a player could jump.
So it would take out the three hard jumps in the game.
But 7 days weren't enough to fit that in.
I'll absolutely do that, if I decide to upgrade the game.

nice

Thanks! :)

I really love the simplistic gameboy design. big fan!

the jumps where a bit too unforgiving for my liking but maybe that was your vision.

over all really cute game! well done

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks a lot! :)

I  actually wanted the game to be even more difficult, but thought that might not be a good idea for the Game Jam, and also more casual players.
If I would have had enough time, I would have built an easy mode with slighlty altered physics, just to make the player character jump a little bit further.
But sadly 7 days is not much time to build a game, as we all know! :D

Great game!

The idea is really nice, although I wished I could retry levels without having to replay the whole game...

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :)

Yeah, I didn't really think about that while coding to be honest, because that game is so short.
But I will build this in if I will end up updating this game.

love the gameboy style and the feel of this game. the color choice is also very nice, loved it

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!  :)
I'm glad you like it!

Ah, this just oozes with charm. It was a simple yet fun and challenging game (had to restart twice), and I was surprised it even had a second level!
Also, the fact alone that you made this as a GB game is insane, genuine props on that.

P.S: I looked back to when you were streaming our game, I absolutely loved it, and am glad the writing struck such a cord with you, despite dialog heavy games not even being your thing! Thank you for playing and streaming it.
P.P.S: No, get your own sandwich.

Thank you so much! :)

Now, I'm hungry again! :D

cute art style, pretty game.

you could make player as a soul of the body in the dream world and it's task is to find the real you the real body and whenever he touches other character it say's that's not the real me or something like that lol

Developer

Thank you so much! :)
I thought about making one of the characters the real one as well. Couldn't find a solution I was 100% happy with though.
But changing the dialog to "I'm not real" is a  good idea. I like it!

The visuals are amazing, I love the use of colors! Great game!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Developer

Thanks a lot! :)
I'm glad you liked it.

I'll try to rate as many games as I can within the next days. Of course I'll look into the games from my comment section as well.

Rated!, can you help rate mine too please? Thanks!

Good retro style game, I like the characters. It feels like it controls pretty well, I just kinda suck at platformers.

Developer

Thanks a lot. :)
Yeah, I put a lot of work into the controls, but some jumps are pretty hard. I absolutely fail myself to finish the game from time to time!

Really cute little game. Brings back memories! Well crafted, on theme, simple but fun! Great job!

Developer

Thank s a lot! :)
Was pretty fun to work on.

I really enjoyed the game even though it took me a bit to figure out the best way to navigate through it button wise, it was very fun to play!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! :)
I hope you found a good way to control. On original Game Boy you wouldn't have to worry about that to much though.
btw: The web build should also have controller support, if you don't like using the keyboard! :)

Submitted(+1)

That's so cool and impressive that this game not only works on the web but also as a real GB game! The art is so nostalgic and well done and the music accomplishes the same thing! I loved loved loved it and felt like I was a kid again! Great job!

Developer

Oh wow! Thank you one hundred times for your kind words! :)
