How does you game fit the theme?
The game mentions a few times that the humans in your kingdom are not real because it's only a game. One of the endings is also based on that idea.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Most of it, yes. The only assets not created by me were 2 fonts used in the game and background music. The creators are credited in the game.

Very good! :-) I liked to play it much! A bit repetitive with time, but still, very nice :-)

Fairly polished but unsure how my choices impacted the game in the longer term. Would love to see more direct results.

This was a great, well-polished game jam game! It was fun playing through the different options and choices. I would love to see some of your decisions have more robust/animated consequences to your town. But all in all it was really fun.

Did one playthrough and got all of the text lines, game was great and super polished, I was very amazed with things like the options menu. Great game, I will now go back and try and get some more endings.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing my game and the kind words!

To give credit where credit is due - the menu and settings are a part of the game engine I used - Ren'Py, so it isn't my achievement.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the game so much.

Thanks again for playing. :)

Got it, it was a really great game either way, thanks for being honest about the menu and stuff, but still just a great game.

I really enjoyed this game! I like the series of events, although some of them got a bit repetitive.

I played this game till +38 days, it's sad that after all that I just gave up on the game and just drained all the money and people, and got the “become a farmer” ending (if there are others), it's honestly sad because other than 1 interaction with the disease, nothing else came…

Developer

Sorry for that.

As I wrote to the comments below, sadly there is a bug that prevents the ending from triggering. If you have met the child, the ending is supposed to be the next day. If you did not, then the ending is supposed to be 2 days after you meet the plague doctor for the second time.

I have no idea what happened, as I was able to playtest the endings previously just fine.

Thank you for playing.

Happy to be your 20th rater! :) I was curious about this game when I first saw you posting in the Discord chat, and I have to say, it turned out to be a very fun little narrative and management game. The pixel graphics are simple but not hard on the eye and the kingdom management through events is - while nothing new - really my kind of gameplay.

I would suggest increasing the size of the buttons on the bottom of the screen, because right now, they are hard to even notice (at lest on my screen).

Do you plan to work some more on this game after the jam? I would be interested in an extended version.

Hi!

To react to all your points:

Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad to see that at least someone enjoyed playing my first game. So, thank you for all that.

Because I expected people to mainly play the browser version, I made the buttons very small because there is not much use for them (i.e., you won't probably save your progress in a short browser game). I suppose you played the downloadable one, so I understand that the size isn't good there.

I do plan on updating the game after the jam and maybe adding more content.

First, I have to fix the endings or remove them entirely because they can't be reached in the current version.

Secondly, this was my first actual game in an engine I never used before, so the code isn't very good and results in some errors, which I have no idea what causes them. Because of that, I will probably rewrite the entire game to make the code better, but that will take time.

Because I'm also a student, I have to balance studying and doing everything else, so I'm unable to invest as much time as I would like in game development.

I promise you though, that I will try to deliver more content for people to enjoy.

Thank you for playing my game.

Great game, I love it!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Developer

It would be great if you actually played the games you comment on. :)

I liked the audios, but in my opinion the sprites were not very good.

hello,

this is not my style of game, but it had some funny dialogues

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game! It has a lot of potential :D The art was really nice as well ;)

This was a nice relaxing experience. I've always liked the kind of "best of 2 evils" choices these kinds of games have you make and the balance you have to strike. I always like to treat the virtual world like reality so I ended up going broke paying for a widows life insurance. I think this game could benefit from each option being given more information on its ramification (I though sending people to the mines would give me more money, but it actually decreased it)

Nicely done! The game feels really nice, though I wasn´t able to reach an ending after playing for a while. The sprites and the background are well made. Though I don´t exactly know how the game fits the theme. I still really enjoyed playing your game!

Hi!

Thank you for playing my game. :)

Mainly the ending was connected to the theme, which you can't see. As I discovered, there was an additional "+" in the game code, that prevents the ending from triggering.

I also planned on the game having an additional ending, which you would trigger by messing with the game's files because the kingdom is not real and neither are the people you meet in it. Sadly, I didn't have the time for that...

I hope you enjoyed the game anyway.

Thank you once again for playing.

So I've been playing for a while now 😂
reached day 90 so unsure what this means😂

I tried getting all my resources up as well as lose all my recourses

I also came across an exception at some point so I think some dialogue option is buggy.

I replayed the game 3 times to try and find the ending, trying different possible combinations but I was not able to reach it 😂

But, the art is really nice, and the game looks good and has potential,

but with the number of days I played, everything was super repetitive, sometimes even dealt with the same conversations 2 or 3 times in succession.

nice job though

Developer

Oh, wow, that's not supposed to happen!

After a lot of time going through the code, I discovered an additional "+" that prevented the ending from triggering. I also tested the game again and you are correct, there is some bug in there... although I have no idea what it is, because everything seems okay in the code.

Normally the ending is supposed to trigger around the 10th day.

I will try to look for the error, but I appreciate you for playing the game so much! :D

Nice game, would would like to see some actions having consequences other than the stat change, the voxel bg with the pixel art is an interesting idea which could look prity neat.

Submitted(+1)

It's a really cool game given that it's a visual novel. Great job.

Submitted(+1)

I've played similar games like this before and I enjoyed this one. I liked the dialogue.

Submitted(+1)

Neat game, though choices started repeating pretty quickly so I knew what to do to keep all the resources up. Not sure if there's an end, but nice work!

Developer

There is an ending around the 10th day and yes, the choices start repeating quite fast, although there is about 40 of them, so you should be able to see new stuff for about 5-6 days, but I know that the next time I make a game like this, I have to make more of them.

Thanks for playing. :)
