Great game! Love the artstyle and SFX!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked this game! The gameplay concept was fun and interesting. The 2.5D art style was really cool too!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

The game is very fun and I liked it a lot, the music and sound effects are very fitting and were very atmospheric, your 2.5D is very fitting and the animations for the enemies, npcs and the player are very cute. You did a very good job of making some jokes with the little upgrades, I liked that a lot. The first time I played I only made it to round 10, but then I restarted and there were no enemies and the npcs kept spawning at night.

Overall very great game, I love it : )

(I would love to see a Devlog on Youtube, where you show how you made...art,music,programming)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback !

I have an actual patch at hand, waiting for the voting deadline to be over. This patch will fix the detrimental bug as well as improving balance, so that it's actually possible to win ^^

I've never given any thoughts about creating devlogs even tho I enjoy them quite a lot ! So sadly I don't have any rush of me working during those 3 days, but I could definitively explain how I went about every aspects. Definitely thinking about it now, thanks to your comment that is ;)

I would love to read about it : D

nothing is moving anymore : D

Developer

yeaaaaaahhh I have this bug where retrying the game without refreshing the web page is not possible :')

Submitted(+1)

nice. i liked the kind of vampire survivor-esque attack mode combined with defending something on the map. loved the day/night music cycles too.

This game gave me really cool Pokemon and Don't Starve vibes!

Developer

Don't starve's definitely a huge inspiration haha, pokemon tho ? Oh maybe it's the pixel art, gotta be it ;)

Submitted(+1)

I love it ! Great visuals, sounds, musics... Very polished and more addictive than I thought !
Good job !

Amazing game! The one of the best jam games I've ever played!

Developer

I hold this very dearly, means the world to me. I mean it !

Submitted(+1)

Excellent game! Ultra addictive! I've been playing for about 2 hours.

Great pixelart graphics and lovely sfx and music too!

The only bugs I found are:
1) when you die, and try a new game, sometimes the night don't trigger the demons, and the villagers keep spawning like during the day.  But nothing that stops me from refreshing the page and trying again
2) the altar 20% upgrade doesn't seems to affect at all. At least doesn't regenerate nor make it more resistant to enemy hits.

Overall the game is really really fun to play and replay and replay again.

Congratulations!

Such a nice feedback ! Can't believe I had someone stick around for 2 hours !

And you're definitely right, my patch is ready for the bugs you mentionned just waiting for the voting deadline to end ;)

Awesome game, I love the 2D sprite on 3D environment look. Art is also beautiful. The game can feel a little slow, I think it's mostly to do with the leveling taking a while. Since you have day and night you could have a leveling system for both collecting souls during day and blood at night and trying to synergize the upgrades between both. Either way, great work! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, having 2 kind of scaling is such a nice feature idea ! I'll definitely look into it !

Amazing game. Love It! So smooth, clean and fun!

Developer

Glad to read that !

i Liked the game. but i think it was realy hard to get enough souls. the graphiks and the audio was very good. sadly i dont realy see how this  game fits the theme

Developer

It for sure is to hard definitely, but I'm still happy you enjoyed it !

This fit the theme as the end of the day is the beginning of the night, so you have this very clear game loop with a clear shift of mood and tone both artwise and gameplay wise. You could also see it as ending lives of your people will be the beginning of a new day as you could survive the night thank to these sacrifices.

Excellent entry.

Really great polish on audio and visuals and super fun to play.

Was a bit challenging for me though!

Great game, well done!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it, there's definitely some balance issues so don't worry :)

Great 2D pixel art in a 3D world! Interesting defensive gameplay idea.

Amazing and fun game for me

This game is Amazing! I survived 4 nights 😁

Developer

Glad you enjoyed !

love itt! Maybe an upgrade which lets you restore some health from time to time would be nice, other than love it :D

Felt a little sorry for the villagers ^^

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it !

Definitely lacks some sustainability, a lot of people are pointing that out. Once the deadline is over, I'll have to get back to work eagerly :D

I had a great time playing this game, I really like the graphics and just curious how did you manage to come up with that cool art and which software did you use for it?

Developer(+1)

For the pixel art I use Aseprite like maybe 90% of people, it's a great tool that does cost some coins but nothing to fancy !

For the art, I like to go for different pixel art syles every JAM and pray the gods of luck to find something appealing. For this one I tried using the smallest amount of pixels per characters possible as I wanted to make the sprite more expressive in a way. This led to a major lack of freedom while animating obviously, so instead of drawing sprite animations I focused on squashing, them and adding meaningful SFX and VFX to make up for it. That's definitely what I like doing, challenge yourself, define constraints on different aspects of your game, and that's when you'll have to be the most creative. Ofc sometimes it does not work out, but when it does, you end up feeling so proud of yourself and in my case, you have a lot of players sticking around and you don't understand why hahaha !

ahahah thanks for that and for me mostly art is my weak point, and the design aspect. So is there a course or a youtube tutorial you can recommend to walking me through the basics. I know art is another aspect of study and its takes time to become better. Thanks for the advice I will try that on my next Jam/min project thanks : D

and I have been playing your game most of the day its amazing  and I liked the way the particles where moving towards the shrine/church I hope you can tell me how you achieved its kind of cool effect it made your game to stand out and the sfx where nice and matched the game well

Developer(+1)

I'm really happy to read that !

I feel you, art was and is to this day my weakest point. I mean of course today I'm finally able to produce something pretty, but there's definitely a long way to go still, I'm way more of a programer than anything else :)

For pixel art I believe that I followed this guy back in the days: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmac3HPrav-9UWt-ahViIZxpyQxJ2wPSH

However there's probably better playlists now, since it was 3 years ago.

For the soul effect, I'm spawning a soul where people die and programaticaly lerping its position towards the shrine according to a curve I setup, nothing really fancy hahaha

Submitted

thank you for sharing that was good effects 😊 and thank you very much for the link hopefully I will be able to get something out it.

Good work mate your game was well designed and it's loopable and playable

Great game. it's strangly fun walking around killing the civilions. the gameplay is realy fun and the graphics and sound are also really good. really fun to play

Great game. keep it up♥

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment !

I put a lot off effort into the movement animations as the player is bound to run around A LOT, so I'm glad you had fun !
