Now this is a game I fell in love with really quickly!

My game had a bit of lore involved with it, and in an earlier game I made, it touches on the “start” of that universe’s timeline. There, it starts with a similar theme! You’re inside the body of someone and you must, essentially, fight your way out.

The visuals are great, the patterns are fun, and this was enjoyable! I really liked this!

Great game, love the use of cells and being inside a patient to justify the things you aren't supposed to shoot. I appreciate having two shooting modes a lot as well, helps keep the game varied. Amazing work!

Cool original concept and theming.

I like that you’ve made something other than the classic space themed shooters with the whole microscopic medical drone thing, the artstyle is also really cool and i like the artwork decorating the side UI pannels.

The music is pretty rad as well.

The game felt a bit hard at times buth i’m thankful that you’ve made a generous continue system that allow players to see the full game even if they end up dying a lot :p

Overall very solid entry, well done :)

Great game!

Ima put my only one complain at the start: Adding enemies that you should shoot feels like policing the 1/2 of the fun of a shmup - which is shooting, so "consequences-wise", game is a little lacking, but put that aside - permanently.

The game is awesome! From visual to sfx to gameplay. Is a bit forgiving with the HP and its nice it has a continue system. Also achievements? Hell yeah. The artstyle is unique and fresh, as is the concept (at least to me). The execution was on point and honestly, made me want to play more of it. Great work on this one!

Thanks for playing! I agree with your complaint, lol, which is why I put the kill all the thing achievement in. Maybe making both playstyles equally "valid" could be a better way to go about it. Helpful feedback.

Got all achievements in 2 tries (and 1 quick restart). Usually not a fan of biological settings, but this game's visual aesthetic was appealing to me.

Really polished and controls well. Didn't find much reason to not use both shots at once but not complaining, player felt quite powerful despite the tanky enemies. Enemy spawns were well-designed - I like that when host cells first appear with enemies, they don't obstruct them completely yet send the message that you should expect that to escalate soon.

Only two real complaints. First, the thin laser bullet seemed really small compared to the large player ship and player shots, it wasn't very easy to see. I would consider increasing its size.

Second, the theme implementation seemed cool on paper, yet in gameplay it just felt like a second HP gauge. The patient condition didn't seem to affect anything and it also seems that 6% is the lowest patient condition you can reach, which takes away from host cells' importance, turning them into little more than revenge bullet bombs. I think it would feel very natural for there to be a rank system of sorts - lower condition means more enemies, bullets, perhaps spawning host cells that attack you (similar to Misunderstoodman, another jam game). Seemed like a missed opportunity, or a cut for time. Not a big deal for a jam game though.

The rest are nitpicks. Pointblanking is a bit awkward because of the first enemy type that shoots a quick thin laser at you. Better visibility should fix it, and I would maybe add an extra 0.2-0.3s of delay before it fires. Tutorial was okay, though could do with a way to advance dialogue faster.

Overall - solid gameplay and presentation, fun to play, controls well. Interesting aesthetics and some small touches. Congrats on finishing the jam!

Thanks, super useful feedback. Your intuition is correct, I was going to make the boss harder depending on condition, but it was cut for time and because most people probably won't play enough to notice. I'll keep thinking about how I could make it more interesting.

I enjoyed all the feedback when I hit the enemies! I loved the art and concept!

If I had to give a critique, the player felt a bit large and I couldn't seem to find a gap in the bullets after a minute or two of playtime.

Thanks for playing. I don't want to sound too defensive, but it sounds like you might not be familiar with bullet hell games. Only the circle at the center of the ship can be hit by bullets. This is explained in the tutorial and general convention for shmups. Also, I kept the bullet count relatively low, unless you completely fail to kill enemies. Hitting enemies with all 3 shots kills them twice as fast as just using the main shot, so getting close to enemies is a good idea. These are some shmup fundamentals, which I kind of expected the player to be aware of, maybe my mistake. Take a look at some bullet hell games by Cave to see what inspired this game.

Really nice shooting game with a very distinctive art style. Managed to do a run with 6% patient condition and had a lot of fun with how hectic things get!

Thanks! Killing all the host cells is definitely my favourite way to play too!

This was excellent! The art and bullet patterns are really clear while also being interesting. The sound effects were really satisfying and felt quite "full". The difficulty was about perfect for a jam game and the achievements added voluntary extra difficulty. 10/10 really clean game!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!

I managed to 1CC the game after some tries, although with 24300 points, a patient condition of 78% and 20% health so I didn't get any other achivement than the operation completing one.

I'm a big fan of your implementation of the theme. The game looks great, the backgrounds, the bacteriae, the doctor, I like all of it, and the bullets fit and are distinguishable. I thought the musics were somewhat ambitious, they're not exactly the kind you're expecting to find in such a game, the first one even more than the boss one, and their alien sounding perfectly fit the atmosphere with these weird alien-looking monsters so that's cool. Finally the game is fun to play, trying to get a good score so trying not to hit the patient the difficulty is right on point for me (I did one more try after my win but died far earlier, I could not consistently bet the game yet), the boss fight is cool and it's satisfying to beat the game without dying.

That's a super cool entry, thanks for sharing.
