I think this game is great! It nails the atmosphere perfectly and I love how cute the jump sound is! Unfortunately I got stuck on the fourth level because the ball rolls to the left and stuck against the crate.
Thank you! Yep, that issue is first on my list of things to fix. I didn't think to put in a pull mechanic until the jam was already done!
I liked the game, it has a nice idea that fits the theme and the character movement feels really nice. Very simple but cool, Good job :D
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I liked both graphics and audio. The only remark is about the bear walking animation, it takes a while to notice but it feels a bit "stiff". Overall it was a very good result.
It's not difficult but I just kept accidentally pushing things in the wrong place so I had to refresh the page a few time (particularly the yellow ball at the end, I've managed to send it a few times in the pit of the second screen by pushing it too much both before or after changing from the 1st to the 2nd scene).
Thank you! I see what you mean about the stiffness; I elected not to animate a knee joint to save time. Poor bear! And yep, the very first update I intend to make after the jam is a pull mechanic so items don't get stuck against walls and are easier to position precisely. I truly appreciate the feedback!
Nice graphics and I liked the way that the environnement change
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Just found out how to beat this game! I just love it when there's a puzzle to solve.
I'm glad to hear you found the ending! It was my first time making a puzzle game, so it's a bit tricky to know if it's too easy, too hard, or somewhere in-between. I checked out and rated yours as well!
I really like the contrast you've achieved between the (seemingly) normal areas and the dark areas, the audio slowing down is super creepy. The platforming feels pretty tight and the puzzles are clever, however I wish it wasn't so easy to mess the boxes up in a way where you had to restart from the beginning. Still you did a really great job with this, congrats!
Thank you very much! And I completely agree, a better way to move and reset the boxes and balls is top on my list of things to fix after the jam.
This game was super fun! I also like that you used lighting effects. I could tell that a lot of time was spent making this game. Great job! https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476728
Thank you very much!
Great level design and visuals, tight controls and adaptive music! SPOILER: I got only to the part where the yellow ball comes out of the "Sun", but after rolling it to the pit, I don't know where to go. Congratulations! :D
Ahh, you were so close! Consider what else you've seen the ball do. :)
I'll be adding a pull mechanic to the ball after the jam too, so it will be possible to position it more precisely without it rolling off somewhere you don't want! Thank you very much for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it otherwise!
Fun game, I really liked the graphics, especially portal animations. *SPOILER* Was "There is no end" the end of the game? If so it fits the jam if not please tell me I would love to complete the game.
Some things that stood out most for me
*Ball jumping mechanic
*Upbeat music with a longer loop (Felt like a proper BG music, I played it the whole time I was writing this review)
*Portal animations (ya you said that)
I always avoid having SPACE as jumping key because I feel it is a bit unreliable because of it's size, I tend to miss many jumps. W or Up arrow key are near and have a good control over them, but hey that's just my opinion.
There is more to it beyond "There is no escape" and there is an actual ending. One of the updates I'll be doing after the jam will hopefully make that more clear, but it's a loop, and things you did as you went through the first time remain as you go through again. You can continue playing if you wish, or check the walkthrough video I put up on YouTube if you prefer. I'll also pass your note about the music along to my husband, I think he did a great job with that part!
I appreciate the note about the jump button too, but I am just the opposite. Several games I've played during the jam have featured W for jumping, but I'm so used to SPACE, it was causing me problems! I was thinking to just allow both in my update, or perhaps a way to remap the keys.
Great game design, didn't notice any bugs from what I've seen.
The graphics were pretty good, but I think the character and the scene doesn't fit together though.
Overall, amazing game with great art.
Thank you! And I concur - some graphics, were box placeholders that I intended to replace with drawn graphics, but ran out of time so I just tried to make them look as nice as possible. There are several scene elements I intend to replace. Thank you for the critique!
I rated yours as well, comments on your page. :)
Great multi-faceted level design. I enjoyed the progression of knowing more than the last time I ran through the level.
Thank you! I checked yours out as well, my comments are on your page.
Had a fun time! Great game and look!
Got stuck at the ball, but then read your notes and saw that you wanted to add the ability to pull. Definitely think that would be a great option.
Thank you! Yeah, it is definitely an update I'll be making. I just didn't think of it at the time!
I'm sorry I can't rate yours, but I don't have a Mac to play on :( It looks interesting, been a while since I played a text-based game like that.
Very nice entry! Great puzzle platformer! I liked your character walk cycle, very smooth. The player controls felt pretty good.
I'd love to get your thoughts and rating on my game. We created a platform as well.
Thank you very much!
I checked yours out as well, my comments are on the game page. But holy moley, that is a GREAT game. Your team should be very proud!
The art and design of the game are wonderful!
Thank you very much!
I loved your game, your art and animation is very wonderful and the music makes the game more fun the flag concept is great.
I really enjoyed it :)
Thank you very much!
This was awesome! The graphics and music were spot on. Had a lot of fun playing it too. I got stuck the first time in the level where you have to jump on the ball because I accidentally pushed it all the way to the right and then had no way of pulling it back or moving it in any way.
Good game on the whole!
Thank you! Yeah, definitely going to add a fix for the balls (and sometimes boxes) getting stuck in corners after the jam is over.
I played and rated yours as well! Unexpectedly educational game, I like it.
The graphics were really good, so the SFX and the music, I liked the puzzles, the atmosphere is really nice and it fits the theme realy well, great job!
Thank you!
Loved the cartoony graphics and the puzzles are well thought... Good job!
Thank you very much!
Rated - Wow this is one my my favorites! Really great progression and puzzles. The polish is so good too, like the moving lights or animated environmental details. Superb! My only suggestion would be to add some squish and stretch animation to the cute bear character. Would make him feel even more huggable! Really great job! Please check out my entry when you have time ~ good day!
Thank you, and thanks for the feedback too! There are definitely a few little things like that I'd like to add after the jam.
I really enjoyed yours as well! More commentary on the actual page. :)
Played and rated! I really liked your game!
Don't forget to rate my game please: https://itch.io/jam/cgj/rate/476599
Thank you! I rated yours as well. That was an unexpected twist... or, I guess, an "expected" one, haha. Congratulations to you or whomever on your team became the new father!
