Amazing! Loved the art style and love the dialog. Extremely well put together game.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

really loved the dialogue and art, and i kept dying in the water :') really enjoyed this!

Developer

That seems to be a really common issue, may need to add some coyote time or something haha. Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed our game. :)

I liked this entry. A pretty fun Metroidvania with an amusing noir story behind it!

I thought the graphics pleasantly portrayed a wintery feel. I really liked the snowman’s jump, as well as how he switches to a skateboard for movement after he’s half melted!

I kinda wish the dialog had a way to quickly skip it. I encountered the water bug a couple times and it was annoying having to play through the parts of the game I had already gotten through because of having to wait for the dialog to finish displaying. Over all, this was minor though.

Great work! If you’re interested in watching a rando, I played this on stream recently

Developer(+1)

We just watched it! Thank you so much for your feedback -- I had plans to address the camera's location and fine-tune the movement speed, but we didn't have enough time. As for the dialogue, there is a way to skip it, we just didn't have time to make it intuitive (it defaults to LMB, haha). You also noticed the dirty trick I had to pull to get the ending screen to work, which is hilarious! The water collision bug and subsequently that dirty ending screen nonsense have been patched and that patch will rollout asap. Thanks for playing! :)

P.S. the music wasn't original, it was all from Pixabay (free to use, no attributions, etc.) -- still, we'll be including a credit scene and crediting the artists when we rollout the patch.

Developer

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out our submission. I just wanted to reiterate: colliding with the water currently leads to a game-breaking bug. If this occurs, please restart the game manually. A patch has already been developed and will be rolled out as soon as possible.

Wow, nice art and writing! I had a bug where my character was doubled after exiting the bar. And when i dropped in the water the game over window was hidden and only shown after i entered the store.

But overall pretty nice, well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing! That is a known bug (see below) and it all has to do with colliding with the water, so it is thankfully avoidable -- it's been fixed and will be patched asap. I hope you were able to enjoy the game otherwise. :)

This was awesome, I loved the dialogue and it made be want to keep reading and exploring the level. The snowman detective sprite is awesome, too.

I'm glad to hear it! Thank you for playing. :)

This was really fun :D. I am amazed in only 3 days? Really cool and the sprites look so cozy and cute.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you had fun with it! Thank you for playing, and thank you for your kind words! :)

It was a lot of work for three days! Thank you very much I am so glad you enjoyed the game ♥

Oh, I can imagine! Great Job! I hope you can get some cozy rest after the crunch.

Wow this was really good! I really liked the story (esp the ending) and the visuals are so nice too.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! :)
We originally had plans to add comic book style cutscenes in the beginning and end, in the style of Max Payne, but didn't have time.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

After the Jam is over I would love to include the comic book intro we had planned I just did not want to rush it :D I am glad to hear you enjoyed it, thanks for playing it!

This is pretty amazing for a 3-day project! The art and animations are really well-made and so is the writing. The script was so entertaining. I also found the bug to be pretty amusing. I honestly wanted to see if I could finish the game with two Winters running side by side but everything else was too broken for that to be possible. So I restarted and finished it proper

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed our game. :)

Developer

Being a team of two helps with that, but really happy to hear you like the art and animation! I also tried that after we found out about the bug but it always ended in a crash. Thank you very much for giving our game a go, and for your comments!

Wow! The writing on this was excellent, kinda gave me Undertale vibes. The art looked beautiful as well. Great job!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

"This wasn't the first bridge I'd burned."  Hilarious.  Great humor.  I hit that colliding-with-water bug and it did all sorts of weird things to my playthrough.  I could walk left and see the death screen you set up, a second snow man started following me around, and other weird things.  I love the snowman jumping animation.  I am really surprised you let him live at the end.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the writing, we had a lot of fun coming up with the dialogue. As for the bug, it was an issue with the scene manager system I implemented -- it caused two instances of the game to run at once, and the z-ordering got all wacky.

Had the same issues as RuGrimm, but looks nice

Developer

Thank you for playing, and thank you for the feedback! :)

Copy/pasted from the review on page to here for Jam reasons:
"Such a cute game! The writing is adorable (especially the gangster crows), and I love the artstyle something fierce. There are few bugs with the water being traversable and a giant "GAME OVER" white screen showing over 3/4 of the general store when you enter if you fell in the water, opening a second instance of the game over the top of the pre-existing game. I could play 2 snowmen at once.  Then, after reaching the boy, he hit the door, the instance played a second time, and then the game hard crashed back to my main menu. It's such a shame too because it would be a fantastic game if not for the fatal issues."

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We completely overlooked that bug during testing, but we hope your experience with this game was otherwise enjoyable.

Really pleased with how this turned out! ♥
