Looks and feel great, good job!

It was a bit confusing at first time (you really should put the instructions on itch page on your game), but after I get the gameplay it became pretty satisfying.

Amazing pixel art! Thanks for sharing this dithering shader, I will look at this for sure once it really enrich your game's visual.

Overall, a great game!

Echo the Dolphin kicks ass, and Ecaroh the Dolphin is pretty freaking cool too. The game looks amazing, feels nice, and has a nice combination of cute and unsettling that feels very in the same vein as Echo the Dolphin. I really dig it.

The point system was a bit unclear to me, especially in regards to the golden minnows. And the game seemed pretty easy and started to feel monotonous after a point. I ended up letting myself die so I could go rate it once I saw that I could get on the leaderboard (which looked to me to be working?).

That said, the concept is top notch, and it never won't be fun to come flying up out of the water. Awesome little game.

Really fun game ! Love the visuals and audio design. Swimming and especially jumping felt really good and satisfying too. I was a bit confused on what to do at first and where to find the golden minnows. Like others have said, maybe a tutorial on where to find and how to save the golden minnows would help. But other than that, awesome game !

Such a fun game, the swimming and diving and jumping felt very smooth. My score went on the leaderboard when I died to 100 anglerfish. ':D I didn't read the description properly before playing so I didn't know about the golden minnows but that's my bad, I thought the objective was to dive as deep as I can, and pop bubbles on the way down and up. Perhaps the game could have a tutorial? The sound design is designed very well and the game feels polished. I adore the beautiful pixel art graphics. Good job! :)

Probably my favorite game so far! Love the art work, sound, and gameplay. The only thing I felt it needed was something to make it slightly more difficult. I could have just kept swimming forever into the vast blue ocean.

The art id so cute, and the gameplay creative. Good job !

Love jumping in the air. . Also cool how you used a gif as a screenshot. Fishiness is def. on point

Very polished amazing game. While I found it possible to ramp up score just swimming horizontally, it was fun seeing army of fish I collected pop up bubbles behind me. Great visuals and animations, especially jumping one, felt really satisfying to jump from the bottom of the ocean at max speed. Great work!

I got a bunch of blue fish to follow me but I didnt know how to bring them to the surface sadly. The visuals and audio were amazing!

It's so good!!!!! If I didn't participate in this game jam, I wouldn't have thought this was made so quickly! the audio is great, the visuals are stunning, and the gameplay loop is perfect! all it's really missing is like, maybe another enemy type, and improved ai. but besides that this is amazing!!!! good job :)

I have no idea what is going on , but it's really cool to look at!

Really delightful game. You have such a good handle on your visual style - we actually remembered you from the Metroidvania jam that just ended! Loved the Ecaroh aesthetic then, and love it now.

After awhile, you start to feel pretty invulnerable in this game. Maybe a difficulty curve could be added, but regardless its fun to play nonstop. It would be nice to see the leaderboards working, but it's a small nitpick. This was really fun!

Very fun and engaging, although once you get enough speed it's pretty hard to die (maybe an enemy that chases you at high speeds? idk)

The dithering effect on the game is extremely cool, and the music reminds me of donkey kongs. I also like whatever cosmic horror lies beneath

Amazing job on the visuals and sound design. I almost forgot I was playing a game made for a game jam lol. The controls are really nice though it got a bit repetitive when the enemies stopped spawning when I go too far to the left or right.

Mom I'm scared what the hell is this thing.

Great visuals, did I got highest score?

simply delightful , loved the art and swimming waay to the bottom to the surface, I can do this all day, very relaxing, though I might need a bit of a challenge

Developer

thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanics and game loop so far :)

I had some more ideas I wanted to implement, and wanted to make the eye of greed a more well thought out boss fight, but had run out of time so it's pretty basic.

Do you have any ideas for challenges you think could be fun with the element you enjoyed in this version?

When I was jumping at high speed on the surface I would love to catch something other than the cloud support, like some powerups, or obstacles.  perhaps also help people that is getting drawn on the water by getting them back to their boat.  but again as starting point this looks really good and have a tons of potential.

Developer

Thanks again :) great ideas I'll put them on the list for future expansion ideas!

I genuinely don’t understand how this game doesn’t have more people playing it

This is genuinely really very good. It feels very nice to control, the art is really nice, the sounds are cute and fit it very well and I had a blast playing it.

My only complaint is that it's too forgiving. I feel like I could have just kept going forever but decided to stop when I got to 700. It's nice that you have an ocean floor, but I feel like you need barriers at the sides because I could just go forever to the side and just kept racking up points.

But honestly really great game!

Developer

good points! You did find a fundamental flaw in how the enemies are spawned in the current build.. and yeah if you swim horizontally without turning back, you can really exploit it! Thanks for that feedback that's really helpful!

Thanks for playing! :)

Unfortunately my browser crashed when I tried to play but I absolutely love the music and art and it got me really excited to play it! I'll definitely be coming back to this one to see if I can get the build to work.

Aw dang! Sorry about that. I had to implement that load screen to precompute the particle systems otherwise the game lags really bad at the start in the web browser (tested on my Windows+ Chrome browser). I'll be sure to also upload a MacOS build after the jam!

Also what happens if you click "wait for program?" That load screen is when the GPU particles are computing so it might start up eventually!

I'm definitely going to play the build when I get a chance! That way I can experience your game and all it has to offer!

This game is so underrated! Best game I have played in this jam so far!

Developer

thanks so much! Glad you had fun!
