Well, this was over too fast.. Because the artwork, animations, etc. are very good! Really appealing. Also really love the music. Please add more (difficult) opponents to punch. :D

It was over in a flash! I paid to see a FIGHT!

jk ;)

This was a fantastic presentation, with great colors/visual design, and incredible music. Not a full experience - it really is over instantly! - but it's great as a tech demo.

Such a cool game. Just a bit to easy, sadly. Some harder AI, and/or different enemys would boost this game into something absolutely special! :)
The music is insanely good btw!

Funny, a little short but funny and beautiful

Graphics are really awesome! Love the character designs and palettes. Would be cool to see more. Well done!

Thanks @grumpyfunction! I was able to reuse some for version we tried to make in NESmaker. I think we'll have to do some resizing to get them to work on GBstudio. "JobberJoe" went over the frame limit lol.

Wow really high production values for this one. Would love to play a fleshed out version of this. Beautiful title screen.

Thanks @BenJelter! I discovered your work while working on this jam and just want to say I'm a HUGE fan! Amazing stuff.

Wonderful visuals! The colors are very striking and it is all very readable.

One thing that I found tough about it is the tell for when Jobber Joe was going to attack. There would be a rumble and I would see that I lost health, but if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't know that the other wrestler made a move and I wasn't able to predict when he would attack either.
Also, I found a bug where the player seems to not be able to move in the beginning until punching (I think this only happens on a subsequent play-through). It's a minor bug and didn't affect my experience at all, but thought I'd mention it if it helps with development!

Would love to see more of this built out, it looks fantastic and has a lot of personality :D

Thanks for playing and the feedback @Eric_Mack! Yeah, I agree there are a lot of issues with the gameplay. It was the first time I had worked with GBstudio and had to make a bunch of cuts to finish in time for the jam. I'm super excited with the engine and looking forward to making some updates. Stayed tuned

Ah, I see RumbleFest '89 on your page - is this project meant to be a port of that game?

I totally get the lack of time. My project Song Bird definitely could've used a lot more features and fixes hahah

Nice job for your first time working in GBStudio! I look forward to seeing more updates :)

Kind of a port, but more of a test in GBstudio. "RumbleFest" started out as a passion project/first game. Think 1980s WWF meets pacman or snake. We released it on mobile ios, but if felt very much like a "first game".

Then a few years later, with a new team, we did a version for the NesMaker byteoff JAM, but that software really didn't suit our needs so the project kinda died.

Fast forward to now and GB Studio seems like a really good fit.

I love everything about this game so far!!! I really want more! When I saw the visuals for this game I was like I absolutely have to play this! I hope it can be expanded into a full game with a story and a roster of characters with unique moves! 🤠🎉

Thanks @howdy riceball! Your kind words are inspiring me to keep going! Stay tuned for updates!

I actually played this a few times because it was pretty fun. I would love this to be a bigger game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks @julss! Working on fleshing out the game a little more. Stay tuned for updates.

A few more fighters and better AI and you'll have a very fun game. I like the art style.

I'll follow and hope you develop this further

Developer(+1)

Thanks @Wessie! Yeah I plan on working more on the game. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks for the feedback.

Loved the artstyle,  really funny. The controls are great too. It feels fun even if the enemy doesn't hit you back yet.  Do you have plans to keep developing it? We'd like to see more characters!

Developer(+2)

Thanks! Yeah we plan on experimenting more with GB Studio to see what we can come up with. This has been a passion project over the past few years, and GB studio seems like a good fit.

Very nice art direction !

Thanks @AlexandreCoulon! I have to work on making the sprites a little smaller, and optimising animations. I went over the frame limit, and I hope to have more enemies on screen.
