Game looks awesome, and was well made. Very slow and maybe some detail could have been thrown into the games actual playable story instead of a million lines of text. Otherwise, its a solid game for what you made.

This is really great as so many people have said! A wonderful concept and implementation. Feels really polished and consistent.
The only real issue I had was that movement in the overworld felt clunky. I think it's a due to certain directional inputs having precedence over the others (whilst holding W; D and A work, but whilst holding D; W and S don't work).
Damn, this game is awesome! All aspects of it are extremely polished - the graphics & animations, music & sound effects, the intuitive controls that are reminiscent of the classic games this was based on. I'm super impressed by this game, and the level of detail that went into it.
Excelent game. I think with a little of love this could be turned into a mmorpg where you could engage another player too. Amazing job. :)
Please rate my game too: https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2018/rate/337556
Very polished and full-featured entry, considering it's "only a game jam game".
It's a bit hard to get into at first and know what you should be doing, because the levels are quite big and detailed, so some direction for player would be nice, but not breaking feature and encourages exploration.
Love the little details like empty pistol sprite etc.
My top favourite of this jam.
BTW, what colour palette is that, or is it a custom one?
Out of all the games I have played this jam, this feels like the most finished game.
I actually enjoyed the long intro setting up the mood and the delay on "presents" adds to the tension!
I had a great experience playing this game. It held me until I found the boss and it killed me. I loved the reload mechanic (especially using the rifle) because it allows you to plan your actions and pick the right weapon, and the variety of guns contributes a lot to the gameplay. The movement feels weird due to the lack of diagonals and some collisions detection. I think more heal tanks are a need, and also a couple of illustrations in the intro.
Finally, I loved the visual style, sound effects, and music. Overall, the game feels juicy and well balanced. Great job!
Very good game! I love graphics, especially in the shooting part. I would like to be able to use diagonals to move and the music to adjust a bit better. But without a doubt a great game with a lot of potential!
Really nice graphics, sound and gameplay. I really enjoyed it. But like some said it's slow and boring to move around. The encounter rate is sometimes really high. You didn't even move, because you are still in the transition, but already got your next encounter. When you die and restart you have to click through the storyintro again and that's annoying.
I also had some strange bugs. I got softlocked in on encounter, because the enemies behind the rock never appeared and I couldn't kill them. I also had some textures missing in the area after the first door. That looked really odd.
Overall one of the best and polished games I played in the jam.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm wondering tho, about these bugs. Where and how did happen the softlock? I think that yeah we should improve player's movement even if he's injured due to the lore and stuff hehe.
Also, dying sadly doesn't have a checkpoint until you pass to the next area, there it will be a checkpoint gladly.
The softlock happened at one of the first bushes. It was my first encounter after I died and got reset to the beginning, but with my previous level. With the how I can't really help. There were the two rock guys and shoot at me and then went into cover, but never returned from cover. I could kill one of the guys, but his death animation was the animation of someone without cover.
Really great, had a lot of fun with it. The combat is responsive, controls well and feels very satisfying, especially the shotgun. Presentation is super polished and has a great style. Only small gripe I can give you is that moving around in the overworld feels a bit slow... makes sense considering you're shot in the leg but a bit of a chore to have to walk so slowly through some early areas that have no action.
Great atmosphere! Reminds me of being in a JRPG overworld and running into enemy encounters, but in this game I was actually looking forward to the encounters.
Since I see you're going to develop it further, I'd suggest you add more action to the "exploration" part of the game. Once you realize all the enemy encounters are in the grass, and everywhere else is safe, the tension diminishes somewhat. Just a suggestion, though, and great work altogether!
This is so well done! I really love the art style, color palette is so pleasing to the eye! And gameplay is nice too, especially "Duck Hunt" part :-D
Wow! This game is surprisingly well done! The music and the scenery make a tense atmosphere, goes perfectly with the plot.
Regarding the intro, it would be nice to show an icon "press Esc to skip" or something like that. The second time I played, I was not aware the intro was skippable, so I had to watch it again.
We are looking forward to see the future project mentioned in the game page. :D
This game is extremely cool. Beautiful visuals, neat progression, great audio and presentation. My only big complaint is that your intro is too long. Getting players into the action faster would be great.
