Very technically impressive, especially given the time frame! The controls were a bit tough to get the hang of though, and the long load time + having to wait for the game to reload after dying made it difficult to make much progress.

Had trouble with the controls, the music was a blast, the models were great and I thought it was pretty sick honestly. It reminds me of vox machinae and plays kind of like it too from the bit I got to experience.
I got an error early in and crashed a few minutes in on chrome - then it had to redownload all the assets which seems to take a while.
The weapon systems on the mech made me really happy.
Nice work with this entry! I personally found the on screen controls reallly difficult to read, It would help to give them a bit extra sizing! Bravo on the graphics, it looks great! I was really trying to get the hang of moving and the ants swarmed me at first haha. I died verry quickly haha! A bit more haste in the gameplay and this could be even more awesome!
Graphis are really impressive and I like the disco theme. The controls took a while to get used to and it's difficult to tell if I'm hitting and have killed an enemy. Also, really great music.
Not gonna lie.. I had a very hard time!
I’m super impressed with everything that has been achieve within the deadline, so impressive!!!
I found the control a bit hard, I’m still confused as of how to properly shoot anything else than the laser.
Once again, very impressed with the quality of the work!
The key control for each laser is shown next to the weapon entry in the bottom right of view. Each key is bound to a weapon mount and each weapon mount has it’s own traverse limitations. The starting mech has laser on left arm (Q key) and minigun on right arm (E key). The canon is top mounted (2 key) and does not traverse down. The canon is good for long range and the minigun for short range. The laser is admittedly hard to use, I should probably have removed it.
Later you get mechs with shoulder weapons (1 and 3 keys) which have very narrow horizontal traversal but are good for medium and long range shots.
Took some time to understand controls and what to do. But then it was fun!
very interesting take on a "Bug" game :).
I had immediately the feeling of controlling an insanely powerful robot, and facing nasty ants (just needed to better control my feet first!).
Some of the ants were a bit tricky to get, and when I realised one was behind me it was too late. I think a red arc could have helped to signal the player where is the damage coming from.
But 100% got the satisfaction when killing one of those insects. Seriously Hats down for the Robot, Town and Ants modelisation. Well done
Amazing. Game started off really slow, because of the slow movement as others have pointed out. Some weapons are hard to hit ants with, but once you progress a bit, game just gets insane :D Great work! destructible environment, different mechs and weapons, just amazing!
Loved the character of this game, the music was amazing, and stomping buildings is great fun! I found trying to actually hit the ants a bit difficult, and would have liked to give it a few more goes to get used to it, but every time I hit play again, I had to wait for it to load up again, which took quite a while, even on low settings. I really had fun though, and this is an excellent entry. Great job!
I am glad you had a mostly positive experience of it. The loading times sadly where a dev time compromise. The quick thing to do was to just refresh the page, the proper thing to do would have been to store & restore the scene; but that just wasn’t something I was ever going to fit in to the time I had available.
Awesome music! As many have said this must have taken tons of time to finish. Controls were a bit tricky but I think thats hard to avoid in game like this. Great work
I think I can improve the controls, but I made life hard for myself by only deciding to enter the jam at the half way point and then pivoting from an RTS in the last couple of days when I found stomping around in the mechs directly was more fun than giving them orders.
But then I ran out of energy, I actually had a migraine once the game was up and had to walk away from the computer for a day! So I just didn’t leave myself enough time to perfect it.
I’ve been playing with a fresh project since the jam and have made a mech builder that even makes tanks and defence towers and space ships all from the same parts (I may have taken it much too far) so you never know - maybe there will be a better sequel…
Very impressive, this looks like it took a lot of work to complete, and I haven't seen a mech game like this before at a game jam! It would be nice if the mech was faster and the ants kept me from getting bored when going long distances. Also, I probably just suck, but I kept running out of ammo and having no way to defend myself. Great music, great models, great city, and a very impressive amount of features. Good work!
I think the mech could be sped up a bit. Moving through the city is very slow atm. The soundtrack is sooo hype, but that energy gets drained when it comes time to navigate with the mech. The controls were spot on though. Also, added contrast would go a long way in finding the enemies. As it is, it's hard to tell the ants from the city. Great job though overall I can tell a lot of effort went into this game!
Awsome sound and graphics. Looks like a lot of work! I destroyed the whole city. ;-) Fun to play.
Loved the soundtrack and graphics! It reminded me of the mecha games I used to play in arcades. Would love to see more levels of it.
Also: I loved the title!
Hugely technically impressive 3D web game. Great audio and graphical effects! Controls are a little tricky but well worth a play. Great work!
Mechs! Brings back memories of mech warrior! Loved the music, and I could see the time and effort you put in. Controls were a bit difficult for me tho. Great job!
Yes, I should have changed the control scheme a bit. I was originally building it as an RTS but I had more fun stomping about in the mechs. So the controls are accommodating things like the split screen view (which I should have removed) for controlling four mechs at once. But I added cockpits on a whim, and then found that I had more fun stomping around in the cockpit view - so I pivoted a few days before the GameOff deadline.
It’s worth persevering though, just hold the right mouse button down to rotate the view, mouse wheel to zoom out, and remember you walk in the direction of your legs not your view.
It can be got to work in Firefox but you have to edit the preferences to enable canvas.transferControlToOffscreen.
This is because the 3D rendering runs in its own thread (as does the fluid dynamics based pathfinding). Firefox doesn’t support this rendering technique by default which forces you to render 3D on the main thread.
Firefox also has terrible 3D performance - it’s actually my browser of choice; but not for playing 3D games. For that Chrome runs web_gl content at about 3-5 times higher fps.
