Game description
Platformer built with Godot Engine. Developed during November 2024.
Tribute to my great friend Vincent, known to his friends as "Ceto" with whom I have been living since 2013.
The game takes place across 12 gardens, one for each month of the year.
In each garden, Ceto must find the potion that, once consumed, will allow him to see the slimes infesting the garden. Along the way, he will encounter various croquettes. By eating them all, he will earn one of the 9 lives he has available.
He must use the poisonous mushrooms to eliminate all the slimes. Once the mission is completed, he can finally rest on his favorite pillow before moving on to the next garden.
At the end of the 12th level, a small final surprise awaits you.
In each level, you will earn points, which will decrease as time passes. At the end of the game, you will be able to save your score.

Theme interpretation
The protagonist of the game often leaves the house, and I have no idea where he spends his day, so I imagined his adventures in secret places.
The game features secret passages and tricks to discover, allowing you to pass through each of the 12 levels. At the end of the 12th level, there will be a little surprise.
There are some key combinations that I use to facilitate development, such as those that help eliminate all enemies or collect all the items.

Wildcards used (optional)

Cheat Mode

Let players break the rules with things like infinite lives or invincibility

Speed Run

Make time the enemy

Nice platformer entry- I like how it makes you think that you are in a super Mario world but things behave differently. Peaceful sound effects and music, and a fun little world to explore. Nice and resposive controls with a good double jump. Great job!

Nice visuals and enjoyable music. Th cat is very cute, and I like the details with the paw and how it folds the ears when walking under the rocks. The best sound effect is the satisfying purr when it reaches the pillow. well done.

The 3rd garden is very hard. I would be helpful to get a respawn when you die. or checkpoints….

I don’t know if it’s on purpose, but in the first level, even before you drink the potion, the first monster will kill you. for the start of the game, I found this a bit hard - also, not knowing if it’s a bug or intentional.

I appreciate your feedback, thank you!

Very polished: the first entry so far that felt like a complete game I can actually buy on a store

Developer

Fun little game. I enjoyed learning to push the little mushrooms around to kill the slimes. It was a fun twist on the Mario experience you have made.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Very cute. I like the mechanics of the potions and the mushrooms. I didn't get past the first level though. Something about the physics feels off. And the level was too hard while still getting used to the controls. Would be nice to include W as an option for jump, and the arrow keys as an alternate (for those of us with tendinitis.) Also, some of your Settings controls are conflicting with browser controls - ESC closes fullscreen, Ctrl + W closes browser tab.

Developer

Thank you for your response and for your suggestions

A very cute platformer! I enjoyed the art-style and the gameplay was fun. Solid work!

I love the concept and the graphic arts. The cat is adorable. The gameplay experience would be better is the input & movement is further fine tuned. The learning curve is quite steep at the beginning for controls and terrain navigation. It can be overwhelming. But once I get used to the setting, it's very fun.

A very nice game, but unfortunately I am quite bad at it and the movements are a bit off.

The experience would be further enhanced with music

Great Graphics

I like the style and feeling of exploration in this game. It is a lot of fun to discover the levels. I do think with how large the levels are it would be nice if progress saved more often. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but when I fell into the water with multiple lives the enemies I had killed were alive and invisible again.

Developer (1 edit)

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Saving the progress is a feature I had in mind and eventually I'll implement.
When you fall in water, the level is simply reset from the beginning, it's not a bug. But it might be interesting to change that.
Thank you for the feedback!

I can see you put a lot of effort in the game. That's an awesome game with a cute cat and cute animations.

The movement is a little off,  but just a little, thanks for the experience

Developer

Thank you! What do you mean "The movement is a little off", could you elaborate?

Submitted(+1)

Sure, it felt a little stiff. Takes too long to move at first, and when you try to stop/change direction it slides too much. Also, take a look at coyote time/jump buffering. And double jump is better than wall jump, imo, either implement both, or just double jump

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!

I guess I wasn't very good at this, as I couldn't make it past the first garden. But the game was super cute, and I had fun playing it despite my struggles!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! What di you find  hard? The mechanics or the level objective?

Submitted(+1)

I tried to collect all the coins I could find, but I always ended up dying. I think the sliding movement caused most of my troubles, along with the moments when you drop down and can’t see where you’ll land. It made things a bit tricky!

That's great feedback, thank you

Great graphics and smooth platforming, pretty fun play. In my experience, I found some of the levels a little too cluttered and the direction confusing but this is a very easy fix. Good Job!

Developer

Confusing the direction was partially intentional I guess, but I understand what you mean. Did you make all levels? Could you tell which ones you found too cluttered? Thank you
