It’s a really interesting idea that I think could work well with some polish.

I liked the simplicity of the base game mechanics which is enriched with combos. Easy to understand, yet quite addictive and well executed. Having some sounds would be nice. And I also think having an option of keyboard input would be great to, as at the moment there’s definitely a lot of clicking.
Really solid game I think! I think it fits the genre and theme of the game really well. Well done making this :-D
Really cool! Once i got the hang of it, it started to be quite fun! Love the idea with different combos! I would def recommend this. Well done <3
Nice and original concept! I also like that there are two game modes. Great job!
That's some next level creativity right there, try to add some music bro and you are good to go
Another great original concept. The pixel arts are nice. This could be a good casual game for mobile in portrait mode. The scrolling icons from falling boxes seems unnecessary though, I thought I have to stop it from certain icon but it seems random. Anyway, with a bit more fleshed out design and polish, this is gonna be great. Well done and keep up the good work.
Interesting and innovative concept, I managed to score 850 in race mode. The game’s core game mechanic has a lot of potential, but I found the optimal strategy to be picking a single bomb/fire rune every time and otherwise clicking as fast as possible. Good on you for finishing a game and submitting it regardless of your situation, as for many game developers (myself included) it takes years before anything gets published.
could the icons roll a little bit slower? maybe that way we could see what's part of the pool of spells we would be able to cast if we clicked that falling piece... maybe that would add a new layer to the game play :)
Congrats to your first gamejam :)
That was a fun little game with and a innovative idea
Thank you very much to everyone who has tried my little game! I had so many ideas and features that I wanted to implement but could not complete in time. This is my first game jam and it has been quite a learning experience! I am planning to release an update once the game jam is ended to make improvements so your feedback and suggestions are valued! Thanks again for taking the time to try it and today I will finally be getting some time to respond to feedback and try out others games!
I will edit this comment at some point with some more information about the planned update soon
EDIT:
new gameplay video is now up on the game page!
I took me quite a while to understand and I somehow was not able to get the tutorial / hints again. The mix of mechanics is a cool idea, but I am not so sure if they combine very well. I did miss some music, which would have made the experience for sure better.
Anyway, congratulations to a nice game!
thank you for trying it out! yes indeed adding some music and sound effects would have been a nice improvement! I had some planned out but unfortunately just couldn't get them added in time. I am hoping to add them in a small update once the jam is ended. As for the tutorial it only appears once because in my code I used the local storage to track if the player has seen it and if so don't show it to them again. It will appear again if the player clears the cache but of course that is not ideal! I had planned to add a way redo the tutorial but that was another thing that I ran out of time to add!
Thanks again! I'm looking forward to trying your game!
I like it. It would be great if the spells can be cast with keyboard also.
Thank you very much! That is a great idea which I could certainly implement! Is there a specific keyboard that you think should control the spell casting or do you think it would be better if it worked by simply pressing any key?
Thank you for trying it out! Looking forward to trying your game and seeing what you have created as well!
You can affect a spell to a specific key.
Exple : time=> Q; bomb => W, plant =>E, fire=>R, wind=>T.
Or if you still want to use the grid system, you can affect a specific key to each cell.
I think the first method is better because you wont have to pause the game while the player is casting a spell. He types a combination of keys and the spell casts at the mouse position.
I like the idea. It's very fresh. But seems needs to be polished in some ways.
Frenetic clicker incremental with a casino vibe, never seen this before.
