The sound and music fits the style you are going for perfectly, the game itself works like expected and gives me old atari art style vibes. I played it tonight on my livestream briefly if you wanted to check it out for the feedback you can here
Silly little game...
The overall atmosphere is cool. Nice take on the simple mechanic of catching food...the physics are well done. However, it could have added that with the stuff you collected returning home would provide you with score and a stew...or meal or something. Depending on what you get, your health would be replenished.
Cool art and cool concept. Good submission.
Loved the setting! Very simple mechanics, but fun. Sometimes I wasn’t sure whether picking up some objects was safe or not. Like broccoli… but in all seriousness, well done!
This was real fun, reminded me so much of the "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" animation and I loved it. well done
got smashed by an anvil 10/10
Nice little minigame :) Would be nice if you are able to spend the food for upgrade such as move faster, more health and more !
I agree than smaller area is worth checking. Also more visual feedback (amount of points that you're scoring for each item should pop up).
I think you can go into this funny, ridiculous atmosphere, so there can be i.e. some mooing cows dropping down or stuff like that. Perhaps some Monty Python movies as a inspiration :D
Very original idea!! It reminders me of the games I played as a kid in a Spectrum! Good work!!
This is a nice little experience. I really appreciated the music. Even though it was a super short loop, it was implemented well and wasn't too loud or obnoxious. It gave the game a little extra bit of charm. Good job! There isn't a whole lot of gameplay, but what little there is works. It feels a touch on the easy side with decent movespeed. It would have been interesting to see some sort of press-your-luck element where the more you collect, the slower you move. And then you'd have to go home to deliver and actually score? Something like that.
Either way, nice job on finishing this game! Congrats! :)
Everything I wanted to say about this game is in the below post by Josep Pons... I will say no more other than well done for getting a game submitted!
The idea is nice and interesting, but I have the feeling it doesn't work, by now. You move to slowly in an open scenario where the food can fall far beyound you.
Personally I would had choosen a closed area, with no scroll at all, making the character faster, and the amount of food (and other things) falling increasing over time, making the game more and more difficult to handle.
Anyway it is a nice submision. I'm sure that if you desire to work a little longer on it it will work better.
Nice game. But a little bit slow
Cool game!
I wish I could move faster
I also wanted to not feel the waste of food that I couldn't reach at time
I think you shouldn't let me go to the wrong side, cause at first I stated walking to the houses and then I realized that the things were falling from the other side.
I'm a sucker for retro graphics so I really liked the art style of this game. Would be nice if the character could move faster (or maybe implement a kind of speed boost?) so that you could target specific items as they fall. As it stands, I only had a shot at catching items I was already directly underneath as they started falling. Nice work on the jam though. :)
Funny game.
Cute game :)
Really fun game :) I wish we had food clouds like this :P I felt that the character was a bit slow at times and was also really scared by the axes and pickaxes falling from the sky... couldn't get away from them.
I felt like it was almost impossible to be under the object I was suppose to catch. Maybe making it the the character would move faster could help? Also, the different food items falling that were falling were too small for me to see properly, might want to scale them up!
Cool idea! If the character moves faster it will be more fun and responsive.
