You get 5 for story and theme, it was very difficult to deliberately lose, but I did.
Very nicely done.
Thank you, means alot to me :) Glad you felt the feels.
Game is addicting for sure, with a bit of effects and some cool music it can be a very interesting project. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the positive feedback! We will!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting this as I was playing. After I noticed what was happening, and I made a different the decision, the text hit me and brought back things I forgot a long time ago. Damn, this was good. One of my favourites of the jam, loved it!
Thank you very much. I am very happy we could provoke some feelings with our project. Sorry to bring back forgotten memories though. Hope you are allright now <3 Thank you :)
That was an oddly relaxing game to play. The satisfying pop definitely helped too. Great story that wraps around the game too. Part of me things it would be great to have a streak count, but part of me thinks that might ruin the narrative, so maybe it's perfect the way it is!
Thanks alot. The pop-sounds were very funny to record, I enjoyed adding them alot.
We were really struggling to find a balance between gameplay and narrative, since we both come from different gameplay preferences. I’m very glad we found a balance you enjoyed, thank you very much :)
Huge fan of peggle, so I’m already happy to see this. The story was super solemn, and it gave the gameplay a new light. After the level loops I decided to give up by missing, and that ended up progressing the story, definitely not expecting that! A cool idea, might stop people from finishing, as to me it wasn’t clear. The most complex levels being at the start, I’m trying to figure out some hidden meaning there…but not sure what. Nice submission!
Thank you! And thanks for not "giving up" (sort of :D). The hidden meaning is that you have to lose or give up on things in life to being able to move forward / progress in life.
After a some loops the game gives you the small hint on "Sometimes, in life you have to lose", which should be the hint to lose the level on purpose. Unfortunatly it does not seem to be as clear as we thought. Thank you for the feedback.
The story/theme reminds me of the quote "Killing your darlings" where sometimes you need to let go of the thing you love and held dear to progress in life. I think the game conveyed the message but it some how could not convey the emotion, to me at least, some music and art could have helped greatly. Overall great job and the end level where you had to lose purposely was a great concept.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the music and art would be the last step and is totally missing in this game, but we had not the time. Glad the message was received of the game.
Yeah, time was an issue. Since I caught Covid and were (still am a bit) sick, the project was missing at least half a person to do stuff.
there is serious and powerful story in this game i think. congrats for submission.
I think the fact that the levels got easier as they went was somewhat confusing. I did figure out the whole losing thing relatively quickly, but it was a nice little sad game. I think the twist on the theme is interesting, but I don't know if the game fully capitalized on it - the game itself is only getting to the death of the relationship instead of starting fresh afterward, if that makes sense
Great game. Took a while to realize I had to lose in the one level to actually progress. Nice twist. Well done. Not sure if it was meant to be but i didn't hear music in game there was music in the menu
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, that's the whole twist in the end. You have to lose and "kill" that beautiful relationship to move on.
Not having music in the game was for this jam on purpose, because the time ran out and we wanted to have at least a music and sound settings in the main menu and "fastly" implemented that in the last hour of the jam with the music in the main menu. But yes, we plan to actually implement the music in to the levels in the further development, when if continue working on this.
That story felt personal, it was a nice twist at the end... endless loop till I had to kill the game. Nice way to tie in the story. I missed having the music all the way through as well. The Peggle mechanic was very well implemented and was very satisfying. Good entry for the Jam.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! :)
You actually did not have to kill the game. As the hint says after a couple of repeats of the last two levels: You need to lose on purpose. That's the twist of the story. But yeah, killing (shooting of all bubbles) and losing is the end of the story and should match the theme "Death is only the beginning."
I am glad you liked the gameplay. Thank you!
This is a nice game :)
Cool physics implementation! I missed some kind of "sad" music in the background.
Yeah, we thought of that and implemented music in the last 1-2 hours with the volume menu at the start. Unfortunatly, there was too little time left for music during the game. Thanks for the feedback :).
This was fun! Getting that perfect bounce to knock out a bunch of pegs feels really good, even if it's all for nothing in the end! I like the guide line a lot, it feels like an actual guide for your projectile rather than the exact projected path, so it leaves the bounce still feeling a little unpredictable. Great job!
Thanks a lot for the feedback. The line was kind of made on the last day and for now should only be for guidance on the first shot. But it is still not perfect, as it is off when the line gets longer. And there was no time to show the bounce of the ball. So kind of not the result we wanted, but happy you liked it anyway! :)
I like the little laser line you made, look like that took a minute to get right.
Thanks! Yeah the "laser" line was really hard. It took most of the time for that "little" code. Appreciate it!
Cool game . Have decent mechanics for this game
I have been a fan of Peggle so this was right up my alley!
It took me a while to get the twist but it was a fun twist! :D Didn't expect as thought provoking as this on jam, happy to see it though
