Fun game! Had an upgraded ship which was able to complete the game. Like the mechanics with upgrading and repairing. Was hoping the side thrust was able to dodge some enemy bullets in the space battles but guess it did not work for me. Overall enjoyable and satisfying finish.
Nicely polished but a little same-y, from the comments, maybe I was doing it wrong or just bad at the game. Shoot the asteroids, sell the ore, upgrade the cargo, rinse and repeat until no more, ore, upgrade shields, shoot the bad guys, die, ooh better ship. Nothing left here, went to the next world - no space station, fill the cargo hold back to the warp gate, back to the previous world to sell up.
I had my shields up to 120 and still died on world 3, by the time I could see the enemy they were on top of me - all a bit too close quarters for space combat IMO. Then I died again and was in the same ship but without the upgrades. That was demotivating TBH.
I saved the galaxy! This game was really fun, I'm impressed how much you all were able to put together in just 10 days, it's great!
I loved flying up to space stations and seeing the models used there. It gave me Armada vibes from an old Dreamcast game. Super fun, and the storyline fit the theme perfectly. I thought the controls / movement needed a little tuning, as it took a while to get to each destination.
I enjoyed it. Nice sounds and art. I like sci-fi. However i got lost and found it a little hard to find something.
I remember seeing this in the video, damn it’s good. You all did really well! Looks good, cool mechanics, space battles lol. Had a nice time playing it :-)
Appreciate the comments, glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed this, I probably would have spent more time farming asteroids. Nice job guys!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed playing this. The art was good too.
Thanks!
Nice Game, good art and effects :)
Thanks for the comments!
Great job with this submission! There were a lot of content/artwork put in for 10 days project. Congrats!
Thanks!
Great work with this! I think the damage probably should be tweaked a bit because I beat the game with my first run at only 65 shields. I think the final boss didn't do that much to me and the swarms of fighters were actually more challenging. Great art you guys put together for this though! I think there's a good foundation here and it will be cool to see how it's expanded on in the future.
Thanks for the comments and feedback, balance is always a fuss to get right
In 10 days this is amazing work, congrats.
the only thing that felt weird was the ship stops suddenly in space. other than that it was awesome
Thanks! I agree with the ship, if I had a chance to redo I would have done completely different mechanics for it. Next time!
This is really nice game, great work! The only thing is that I would like to fly faster :P
Thanks! Next iteration ill be playing around a bit more with movement.
I defeated the commander!
Well done! Glad you liked it!
I really liked how the stars were passing by when you were boosting. The upgrade system was also really cool. Great job!
Thanks!
Really dig the UI map guides. Also the entire game had a sort of Star Control 2 feel to it and that's great! Congratulations on your submission.
Thanks!
I like this game. It's got smooth movement and shooting, and the visuals are really good particularly the backgrounds and particle effects. I also like that you put icons on the UI to guide the player on where various things are. I love the controls because I go forward depending on where my mouse is aimed. The little mechanics are neat. Like some comments here have pointed out, I would've liked to have some gating mechanics to avoid players cheesing the game or rushing to the end. There was also the issue of the menu buttons remaining on-screen when I was already in the game, which I had to restart to fix. I understand a lot of these issues can be fixed with more time, though. Overall, great game, I can see why it's got many ratings :)
Thanks for the comments and feedback! I just pushed out a build that will hopefully make things harder and where the boss bottle will need a better ship or at least more upgrades. Also put in fixes with the UI, not sure if it will help exactly with the bug you faced but hopefully it will improve it.
This was a pretty neat game! I liked a lot of the mechanics. I've seen your replies to some other comments, and while there is, of course, always room to improve and progress your game design and implementation, the important thing about the jam is to learn something from it. Well done!
I saw your stream from last night, thank you for playing and streaming the game! I just pushed out a new build that will hopefully help with the volume issues you were having (among some other improvements). Thanks again for the comments and feedback!
Hi GDTV2021 friend :) I saw the logo and it vaguely jogged a memory of your last game. Very ambitious, I'm impressed at what you got done in the time available.
I have a dream of adding Elite style elements to my 2D shooter, though this time I stuck purely to the action elements.
Nice game and it looks great. I got my butt kicked by the enemies so the second time round I sniped them outside their range and they were helpless. Same for the boss. Maybe add in some mechanic to avoid that. Good job!
Cheers,
Chris
Thanks for the comments and welcome back! I completely went the wrong way with a lot of things on this project, mostly because it was my first attempt a 2d player controller, but it was too late in the jam when I realized it. Such is the way of a jam :)
I didn't see your project in the sea of submissions, I'm heading over right now to check it out!
Nice game.
I was able to make a run and go straight to the final planet, and defeat the boss, without doing anything else.
So maybe add some mechanics to avoid using the warp gate before all enemies are killed or while collecting resources from asteroids/enemies.
But otherwise, great job :)
Thanks for the comments! I just put up a new build with a tougher boss so hopefully now a better ship/better upgrades will now be needed to defeat the boss.
