Loved the concept with loosing (dying) and been given more stuff from the developer to try again :).
Possibly could have given more health in the end :P, but i loved the cheat key :P.
Nice set up for a game, with a unique feel. Well done!
I liked the game mechanics, but on a German keyboard it is hard to use those keys (z and y are swapped), so there should be some way to remap them. Besides that, nice game!
Woo very cool game I really enjoy it!
Sorry mate but I'm not using CTRL or Z to attack, if you change the controls to something more intuitive I'll play it a lot more.
Can I suggest left mouse button for attack?
The only thing that was really hard was hitting with CTRL. Besides that, I love the ease the player moved with and good animations!
Very well done :)
You did a great work :)
For me I would have prefered the Right Ctrl key for attack or LMB, to have one hand dedicated to move/jump and one for attacking.
Having two hands on the same side of the keyboard is a little tricky.
It was ok, not my cup of tea tho to be fair.
i sat in the right-hand corner and just kept hitting lol, i had jumped around but noticed that either corner seemed to work better.
The background and colour theme worked well but i think the characters looked a bit miss matched, music was nice and didnt notice the sfx being out of place so thats good.
Welldone on submitting a game.
This is a very clever implementation of the theme and I didn't totally get killed on purpose just to see how many more powers I would get... :D
Really fun game, I loved it. The only thing that took me out a bit was the screenshake. I found it suitable but too exagerated for the crabs.
Crabs!
Also the screenshake is too much for me
Really nice game, I like the narrative! Although, I think 4 jumps are really unnecessary, I did not use jump at all. :D Also, it would be nice to have some build up, because at the end I fell like the is a big spike in the spawning of enemies. Good work overall, nicely done! :)
in first design, i thought we can destroy the boilers. I added 4 jump because of that. But time was not enough :) thanks for playing
Oh, I see. Now it makes perfect sense. :)
Nicely polished and put together. However I think the mobs should have more of an aggro range.
I didn't manage to win but I found I got my best score by just standing in the corner with my back to the wall and spamming the attack button rather than using the special abilities. But then unless they landed right in front of me, they just sat on the bottom and didn't attack. But if I tried to play "normally", the crabs just fired out and landed on my head or they bounced around and landed on my head and killed me.
I also thought there was too much camera shake, especially when it was just a tiny crab landing!
thanks fpr that detailed comment. I have to improve my gameplay. Thanks for trying my game :)
Very well done! I wish my game came even close to that. Was a bit confusing at first but I liked it. And the fun thing was that you could just cheat your way to victory as well.
I really liked your game, well done. Congrats. Your own pixel art was really cool. Keep it up.
Sometimes the enemies would be upsidedown. Is that intentional?
I've seen a pile of crab before. while they were all moving at the same time, they formed a very different image. I tried to get that image. but I was not that successful. Thank you very much for your comment.
Looks like we had the same take on how to use the theme :) I liked beating up the blue octopusses, the particle effect was satisfying. As was dashing into them and making them bounce around.
Controls were good for the most part but felt a bit unresponsive, try making the attack and it's animation faster as well as making the player move faster. It's not bad from the ground up just needs more tuning I feel. Strong package overall!
I like the feel of combat and the build up of skills as you die more and more. I found the attack button to be in a bit awkward of a position. Maybe it's just my keyboard, but it prevents me from being able to move around quickly while using it and if I hit control and then d, I keep getting the bookmark shortcut. Might be helpful if it was either the shift button or the J or k buttons so that the other hand takes care of the fighting. Overall, though I had a lot of fun!
there is also 'Z' key option for attacking. I putted there for some mac users who has trouble with combat. Thanks for playing :)
Ah, sorry I missed this reply earlier. I should have mentioned that both my CTRL and Z keys are both in a similar spot. It might just be my keyboard's specific spacing that makes it a little tough to use.
The graphics are really nice for the main character. The game play is nice and smooth. It took me a second to get my timing down right. I rarely jumped but the fighting was way fun. Good Job on this Game. It feels real satisfying to attack.
Great little game, I love the power ups after each death, would be sooo hard otherwise
Well done. It was really fun to play. Great job for just 10 days!
Congrats on completing the jam! I thought your game fit the theme well and overall was put together well. One suggestion/comment would be to change the attack and (maybe) dash controls. Trying to move left while attacking was very awkward, and trying to move right and attack was bookmarking the page (ctrl+d)! Left click to attack would really help.
i frequently used arrow key for control the player, it s much easier. Thanks for playing :)
You did a great job, and I love what you did with adding a bonus on each death
