You guys did a great job on the first-person platforming.  Felt very precise and fun. I like the idea of the special tiles to help get across obstacles. Overall presentation and look is fantastic and appreciated the settings available to the player.

This is neat!! It reminds me of 90's FPS platforming or Mirror's Edge, and it controls really well. Runs super smooth, too. :) I could NOT get the hang of the timing for the "water speed" power-up, though, haha. And I loved the DOOM-ification of Level 4!

Submitted

Nice game, the platforming feels really good!

Submitted

Looks great, runs great, and definitely has the best first person controller I've seen in the Jam so far :)

Submitted

This has some really nice platforming. Great work putting this together.

What did the first powerup do?

I think having to restart from the beginning made it a little more frustrating than it needed to be. It would have been cool to see the corpses of your previous runs hung up in the spikes or wherever you died

Stunning visuals in a FPP (First Person Platformer) ;)

Loved the game! Good approach to the theme and nice work polishing the whole thing! Great game, congrats!

Jumping puzzles are hard enough for me when there isn't a timer but it performed well and was very polished looking. It wasn't clear what the powerups did (or if they were harmful) so the first one was very much a leap of faith.
Personally I'd like save points throughout the level but that's just me,  repeating the same bit of a level over and over and getting so close then dying is not for me.
The UI and menu screens were very professional

Developer

Thank you so much for playing the game! I'm glad you tried to experiment with the powerups even though some look kinda menacing because that's the point: trying different things even if they look harmful because "death is only the beginning" (wink, wink hehe).

The thing is that we considered checkpoints because my sister tested the game and she didn't like the fact that you had to restart the game when you died, so we settled in including the "easy mode" so you could retry the levels by themselves but then not counting for the final time score. At the end of the day, we wanted the game to resemble Super Meat Boy but also to have the "roguelike" mechanic of trying to reach the end of the game without dying, so we stuck to that idea even though it could add a little bit of frustration at some points. To compensate, we also tuned the levels so you could find alternate routes if you are more of a patient/explorer type of gamer and also help players that don't like high-reflexes kind of games but also rewarding speedrunners/daredevils type of players that just want to breeze through the levels as fast as possible hehe.

Fun and difficult game. Died 18 times but I finally finished it.  In level 3 dipping in water makes you small and it's really hard to over come the following platforms after that since the player slides and does not jump far in that form, I would recommend tonning down the difficulty there. And In level 4, there are stone platforms that break when player jumps on them falling to death, this was frustrating as there was no indication on which platforms are weak and which are safe. I would recommend giving some kind of visual flare to let the player know on which platforms are weak and unsafe to jump on.
Overall, fun game and great level design and atmosphere.

First of all, thank you so much for playing the game and for the feedback! Yeah, it's true that the last traps are really difficult, and that's by design hehe. For example, there are small hints on those platforms from the lava level so you can identify which are the ones that will break, but we also made them not stand out so you could either try that puzzle the safe way but losing time there or trying to speedrun it but maybe fail. Our next game wont be so difficult though, I swear xD

Ps... If you're willing to try it again, pay close attention to wobbly meshes and a very subtle amount of smoke particles that come from certain platforms ;D

Cool game! Very nice use of assets. The first person platforming felt surprisingly good, but I was unsure of what the powerups did at first. And thank god for easy mode 🤣

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback! Indeed we left the powerups a bit more ambiguous so that the player could have an "ahá!" moment when realizing which was their functionality, but we hinted at their use with traps that forced the player to use them properly (at least the first time hehe). It's difficult to design a game without using explicit text explaining the mechanics, but we thought it was worth it to see if we managed to realize this "learn by doing" concept ^^

Fun game but pretty hard. Thanks a lot.

Developer

Yeah, the pitch for the game was pretty much "what if Super Meat Boy and Uncharted had a baby" so... mission accomplished hahaha. I hope you had a good time playing the game and thank you so much for giving it a try! :D

Good game! This really makes me want to give Unreal a try. haha

Fantastic entry for the jam, good level design, game play and sounds.

Was really tough on some parts, made me want to rage quit so much haha.

I made it to the end though with only 45 deaths on easy.

Excellent job

I'm glad I am not that architect because I would be eternally damned XD

Great job, the environments and level design were amazing!

This game proves that less is more, I like the concept of physics puzzle.

The level's structure was good, I enjoyed this game!

Very well done :)

Developer

Thanks for playing our game ! We tried indeed to stick to a limited amount of power ups/movements, but focused on polishing these to make everything look and feel different :)

Submitted

quite impressive how you seemlessly mixed those different assets and still ending up with a coherent look. how to use assets sensible is somewhat on my mind recently and this was a worthwhile study.
the gameplay was also quite enjoyable, but restarting on level 1 everytime was too frustrating for me (i'm sure there are a lot of hard core players out there, that do enjoy the challenge though)

Developer

Thanks for playing our game and for your feedback !

If you ever feel like replaying it, you will notice there is an Easy mode option available in the menu settings that allows for restarting in the current level. As well as the possibility to select directly each level from the menu so that you can play every level without the need to finish the previous ones :)

Really fun game, the controls were really good. This game made me want to speed run it, and so I loved the fact you could skip the countdown at the start of a level. I thought the level design was nice too and there were some different ways to approach some parts which was a nice touch.

Each level introduced something new and interesting which was cool. I couldn't finish the final level as I have no idea how to pass the breaking floor (unless I'm missing something?).

I also loved that you can pick to start from any level, as I didn't realize normal mode was the default.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game, really glad that you enjoyed it ! :)

We have indeed tried to give players multiple ways to play this game, and the breaking floors is definitely one of them. Pay close attention to where you want to go, or… learn the hard way :)

Great game!

Really loved the atmosphere and level design, game looks incredible! But player controller feels a little bit unresponsive, maybe in air velocity of player should go to zero faster?

But, overall, awesome game, mastered 1st and 2nd level, but on 3rd i ragequitted, so, consider me a weak player

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

We tried to give a different gameplay feeling to players depending on the pick up they have on. The simplest form of moving, yet slowest, being wind, then fire/normal, that both allow you to have a great air control. However we did go with a different approach for water, in which the players have the opportunity to be much faster, yet, lose more control.

You usually always can play the game in multiple ways, so we have no doubt that you can succeed where you previously failed :)

Submitted

yea, i see that! always completed first level as water, when i could go with fire - that's great mechanic! I'm actually impressed by that, may give another try to your game, replayability of your game is awesome!

This is masterfully crafted. The game looks amazing! Its controls are tight. The levels are fun. The gameplay is simple but fun. The music and sounds complemented the visuals in an awesome way setting a great mood and atmosphere. A win for you in several categories. Keep up the great work!
