I'm not familiar with this genre of game. It seems to be like the Shakespeare one on here but I did much better with that. I explored but found no loot, my weapons didn't seem to do any damage at all and the mobs seem to come out of nowhere and swamp me

The first 2 times I played I had these pink blobs firing out of me at random, the second 2 times it was really slow sword that appears very rarely.  With the other game of this type that I've tried, the "weapon" moved at a consistent rate and was always there so you could time turning around and unleashing it on the enemies following you and they all died in a single hit. It also moved a considerable distance away from me. In this game I felt like the enemies had to get so close and the weapon firing was so random or slow that I died before I seemed to have done any damage.

So not for me, but other people seem to have gone on better with it. Maybe they got luckier with drops but I tried 4 times and although I did eventually find a place that had chests I could not get to them without dying

Wow, this was really fun to beat!

It took me a few tries to realise I could actually get drops from enemies, but it was all uphill from then. It also took me a long time to realise there was actually a time limit!

I'm really impressed that you managed to put this all together and get it working within the jam limit. Well done.

I definitely see the Vampire Survivors inspiration, but I really appreciated that you gave the player agency in deciding when it was time to progress to more challenging lands, rather than having progressively more difficult waves forced upon you whether you're ready or not.

The different regions were really cool, each with their own enemies and music, even though I spent most of my successful playthrough scared to venture far into many of them!

Also, this might just be me, but the music for an area far to the right (desert or beach I think?) kept making me jump whenever it started, haha. Something about the trumpet-y instruments made my brain think it was a vibration or a phone buzzing or something, I think. It was pretty funny, and added a bit of an extra adrenaline rush whenever I accidentally ventured there and the music startled me. Fun times!

After a while, I felt like it might've been helpful to perhaps see the total sum of stat points on each weapon, just to help quick comparisons (but then again, maybe not all different stats are equal). It'd also be fun just to keep playing, and see how crazy one's weapon collection can get. :)

The fact that you not only implemented waves of different types of enemies, regions, drops, a stat system but also a fully functioning boss battle is just incredible.

Overall, this is extremely impressive. I really enjoyed collecting equipment, comparing stats, upgrading, and seeing my collection of weapons wreak havoc. Well done!

P.S. I love your planned idea of having the main character's son carry on the quest. I had a lot of fun playing Rogue Legacy! (I never did quite manage to beat it, but I came close)

Hey, thanks for the kind words they really mean a lot. Had planned on having stat differences be in a different colour based on whether they were an upgrade but time in jams can be fickle at times and stuff just doesnt get implemented.

Glad you enjoed it, tuning definitely could be improved in general across the game - Area is kinda crazy compared to some of the other stats in terms of what it does for you as an example.

You're very welcome! :) Ahh, yeah, I absolutely understand not having time to implement all your ideas in a jam. I'm honestly shocked at everything you achieved!

Oooh, yeah, it did seem very useful to have my weapons become gigantic. It'd be kind of a shame to see them shrunk!

Very nice Vampire Survivor's-esque game while being quite unique with the equipment slots as well as having unique weapons. Some of them much harder to start with than others, but all of them powerful in their own way. Would be nice to be able to choose your starting weapon (the dagger was my favourite)

Great submission, definitely a bit hard to start but it picked up from there. Great job!

Congrats on completing the jam! I like vampire survivors so this was great. Loot and stats and weapon variety was well done. On a 4k monitor the UI was unfortunately very very small.

I've never played Vampire Survivors so this was pretty new to me. At first, I found the auto-attacking to be pretty frustrating. The first few times I tried it I kept getting the sword and felt that I was just going to call it. I tried one more time and was surprised to find that I had a different starter weapon. Played a few more runs after that and in one of them I managed to get Death down to half. This was pretty enjoyable! You really put a lot of work into the loot and the different stats so great job there!

Ah, another Survivorslike [tm]

I really had fun trying all the weapons, trying to orientate myself in the right direction so they just destroy all enemies. Good mix of directional vs. non-directional weapons. My favourites are the swords, most satisfying although hard to position right like the other directionals - would love to see something like a timer at least for the shortest ongoing cooldown, or a preparation animation that lets you aim while it goes!

Most of the time didn't feel so productive. Enemies rarely drop loot so fighting didn't feel so encouraged, so I went out for chests. Enemies aren't too challenging to dodge, so walking was too safe! Wish it was harder like the bossfight. But exploring the world was still just amazing, there are so many different areas.

And that Kukri? Pretty sure that's a Kunai 👀

It's was very fun, but a little hard at start :)

I died three times before understading that I should explore the world :-). But than I could get stronger and confront Death! (before it was really hard ;-)). Nice music and graphics, congrats!

I love that the weapons just fly around you like a crazy mess when you have many of them. I liked that there was loot but the scaling on the UI didn't work on a 4K monitor, it was too small to read from the distance I'm sitting so I just picked up whatever I thought looked like it was supposed to be better. The graphics for death was really cool.

Really like the game, nice idea and mechanics. Also knowing when attack will be casted would be cool to have

Good job! I enjoyed running around the map collecting better equipment. You nailed that part of the game. Boss fight is good as it is but I can see that you could do a better job if you had more time. It is a game jam in the end, and I applaud your acchievemnt. This was the best game in the jam I have played so far.

This is really really good. Crazy how many features you listed that didn't get implemented when it seems like there is so many that did. Well done.

Really neat game! reminds me of Vampire survivor, but that's such a solid foundation that you can build however you want, so smart choice.

I had lots of fun messing about getting projectile size big haha.

I will say that the web builds UI doesn't scale very well in full screen. The HP bar is tiny, and when fading to black it doesn't cover the who screen. On unitys canvas their is a drop down for scaling UI, imo its always a good option to be on scale with screen size for web games / most jam games.

But that's a minor thing. IMO this game was really fun and you did super well!

Fantastic work!

Thanks for the tip about the canvas size, really good to know for future web builds.

Very cool, I like how many different items and stats there are.  Played around for a bit and was already enjoying it, then went and read the rest of the description, and now I'll jump in again and check out these different areas you mentioned!  I'm also working on a Vampire Survivors style game myself (not for the jam), I think there's a lot of potential for fun mechanics and variations.

Cool game, reminds me of vampire survivor.
