This game has a lot of character. The player's weapon also felt very impactful. You die way too quickly/easily, in my opinion. A quick TTK is fine, but when you add the fact that there's no directional damage indicator, enemy weapons work through hitscan, and enemies make no noise until they are already shooting, meant that it was easy to spend more time dead than playing an otherwise very satisfying shooter.

Wow, does funny monkey studios or Sno Bunni or both have another platform with additional releases? This game had so much polish for the 10 day submission I would love to play the games that you all work on for longer periods. The models and environment had a cohesive aesthetic, music and sound effects were right on, fps mechanics were on point. Feedback to improve this one would be make the AI less superhumanly good (not sure if I stumbled on a hard setting or am just not great at this type of game but seemed like my 5 flames were exhausted real fast, hiding and throwing bombs was the strategy I went with because of reload speed. particle effects or a red dot/sight overlay might help with aiming). Overall super well done if this jam were a competition I'd be like "no fair these two are ringers!" Well done.
Thanks for your very kind comments! So far, everything we have done is here on itch. Thanks for the input, an aiming overlay is a great idea, and so far the consensus sis our skeletons are definitely OP, so we will address that after the jam is over. PS My strategy also was hiding, running, and throwing bombs :) Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for playing!
I like the aesthetic. The controls are solid. I think the enemies should at least have the same reload time as the player.
This game is AWESOME! the visuals are so pleasing!
the shooting system was REALLY well made too
the AI were great too except a few things which ruined the fun
1) The AI was TOO strong idk if it was intentional or not
2) The AI can shoot you without even you noticing where it is.
besides this the game is AWESOME!
The visual elements are really well done, and the Mexican motif is fun.
Gameplay-wise I feel it needed some more additional tuning. Aiming the gun is really hard, and I died many times, but because the loop is pretty fast, I didn’t mind it that much.
The gun only having one shot is a great concept. It’s like taking “no-scope 360” and stripping everything that is unnecessary about it, leaving only the essential “one-shot, one-kill” mechanic.
The music made me laugh the first time I heard it just because it was such a stereotype, but by the 3rd time it started, I had to mute my laptop ( ^∇^).
Nonetheless, a good solid project, well done!
Played and rated.
It's a nice mariachi FPS! The health pack and ammo box make things more interesting. The fact that enemies can't miss makes it too hard in my opinion though, I managed to get to level 4 before dying.
The art and audio are great, the shooting and pickup mechanics were fun. Great work! :)
Funny shooter! I liked the Mexico-Mariachi style. I was hard to survive tough :D
Very fun yet simple game, it reminded me of Devil Daggers but mariachi style xD
Great atmosphere, music fits it well. Had a hard time aiming the gun, so most of my shots were misses :(. I guess this is just not my type of game, didn't even finish level 1. But don't worry, that didn't effect my rating.
Nice concept! The audio is great in that it's atmospheric, and also informative. I love the lights in this game. The B key for the bombs is a bit out of reach, it would be nice if it was Q or E (or all of them).
Funny thing, if you get between a light and a wall your character casts a shadow, so it becomes quite obvious that there is nothing besides the arms :D.
Really great looking game, I am terrible at it unfortunately haha. I was able to kill only 1-2 skeletons before getting killed each time. Maybe a crosshair would help? I also seemed to get shot behind walls. I really like the atmosphere though, the movement, and the world itself.
Great game, well done ! Loved the atmosphere, and great work on the assets as it seems you made everything too :)
I made it until Wave 9 :D
One thought, it would be great if the fast shooters had a longer delay between each shot, so that it gives the player a chance to escape, especially when the ennemies spawn just next to us. I got insta-killed a few times XD
Hi, I noticed your submission is missing source folders. Your source is everything someone needs to download your game, open it in the game engine, and hit Play to play the game. In your case, your source is missing the Packages and ProjectSettings folders. Here is an example of what your source should look like: https://github.com/icepol/DeathIsOnlyTheBeginning
Wow really cool! I agree with the comment above, something feels a little strange with mouse control but graphics are sick!
The gun was a bit hard to control but overall I love the theme, visuals, and music. Great submission!
