A fun, solid platformer! The art style was cute and I found the mechanic very intuitive, but what I appreciated most was that you took the time to balance the controls. The player move/jump speed felt responsive and viscerally right. (I just wish the E wasn't right next to the W, cuz I accidentally switched dimensions and killed myself a number of times.)
I will say that I really missed having music, and either that or some sort of background ambience would be helpful in creating a mood. I will also second some of the other comments and say that the enemies don't seem to pose much of a threat and can easily be avoided. Still, a well though-out and pretty polished platformer, nicely done!
thank you for your comment - do you think right click would be better for time swap? I just thought w you only need for climbing ladders and since all ladders are broken in the other time you dont switch time at that moment anyway.
Yes enemys need still work they are more or less placeholders and music I didn't find anything thats free but works well in two different times so I cut it for time
But I am very happy that you like the controls because I don't like games with bad controls either^^so that was a focus of mine - that and the art
Actually yeah, for myself personally right click might have been better. Especially if the enemies become more of a thing and I need to shoot more often, and therefore keep my hand on the mouse.
Totally, I understand re: time constraints. But you succeeded with the controls and the art!
Thank you! I just played yours and left a comment
great mechanics and solid 2d artwork :)
I think it's perfect, there's nothing more to add
The sound effect on time change was a bit loud at least for me :D
Overall it was a relatively good game, I liked the idea of going back in time and things were different and you could continue, you had some good timing challenges as well where mid jump you had to change it. (I would have probably named it a dimension switch, just to even better go with the theme, but I got what you meant with it though!)
The game went back to level 1 after I played a few levels through, I think it has an endless loop or something?
Lot of the enemies were able to be just avoided completely with switching the time/dimension, I don't think I killed one enemy, a proper pacifist run I'd say :D So maybe cranking the difficulty with those could be one thing!
Overall nice game and good job on getting a game done and submitting, ain't always easy!
Thank you so much for your comment yours is already in another tab - was the next on my list
yeah its a loop I only have 3 levels and no menu so....
I'm thinking about changing the shoot mechanic with aiming and that you have to switch time during bullet flight for some enemys to damage that could be cool I think
Hi! Great work on the art and sound implementation! I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do and couldn't get past the first level. Am I supposed to be able to jump onto those concrete slabs? I couldn't!
no its just a platformer and the concret slabs are background - you can swap time/dimensions to change/diactivate obstacles so you can continue
the game was really fun, great job! but in the beggining i didn't know what to do, a quick tutorial would have been very helpfull :)
Love the time swapping idea, really enjoyed it.
Cool game! I really enjoyed how you can swap time to see different possible paths to progress. I might have encountered a bug where after restarting to level 1 and accidentally time shifting on the portal, the game won't let me progress anymore :o But still, great job! :D
Fun game! The game feated the theme. Nice aesthetics and sound effects. I think you know it by now, some music and story art would be amazing for future releases. I would just change either the projectile (bullet) and make it more like a sludge bomb considering the player is sludge material (for example) or give the character a weapon. Either than that, great game loop and game design! Keep up!
A great concept; the level designs are quite good as well, but I think it can improve more; the enemies look different from the initial art style, which was kind of off-putting, and the traps are kind of lifeless; some music would be nice to set the mood you were going for; still, the mechanics are great; you’ve executed it well; good job! :D
Wow didn't think anyone would notice - the enemies are made in 16pixel the rest in 32 xD
And the Traps are Lifeless because I haven't figured out how to add animations to them
But thank you for your feedback! If I continue with this project all the points you mentioned are on the list
Nice game! The level design is good! I think the jump pads should be more visible, since sometimes I went on them by accident (or is it on purpose? XD)
Overall, well done!
No it's not - I just had no time to ad VisualFX^^
Good game! Congratulations!
I enjoyed this a lot! Great idea and very good level design. Also love the art.
Thank you very much!
Okay I love this game. Are there more than 3 levels? Asking because there's a portal at the end but it's not ending the level once I get to it.
The sound effects can be a little hard on the ears (especially when changing volume mid sound) and some of the background bricks really trick the eye, they look like they're in front. Other than that this game is pretty much what I envisioned for the theme and more.
Also probably due to the industrial environment and gem graphics but it gives me vibes of an old DOS game named Crystal Caves, probably the first PC game I had
Oh wow Crystal caves was my absolute favourit as a kid!
And in the jam sadly no there aren't more than 3 levels - you can just keep playing and see how much points you get with the three lives^^
I'm so happy that you like it!
NO WAY
Haha such little coincidences make my day ^_^
Anyway what I forgot to write up there:
Nothing like shifting time right into a death spike~
Found it amusing how easy it's to die when you don't pay attention what is on the other side lmao
Good job with the game. I like the mechanics of the time swap. Good use of theme.
Very fun game to play. When you changed dimensions you had to be careful about what danger is where because you could die by standing on the wrong point when changind dimension.
The mechanics were good as the graphics but you could have added a little ambiant music and some extra sound.
Good job to you
Thank you very much for your feedback! And yes I wanted to add more sounds but I'm glad I got those working and it was not completly silent^^
What a clever way of using the theme, i also love the mechanics of switching between the dangers which makes you second guess if there are any immediate dangers ontop of you when you switch dimensions. I don't know how many times i switched and i was in pool of green goo 😅 the only thing i felt was a bit punishing was starting over from the beginning of all the levels after the lives were lost. Great game tho!
I know what you mean - I wanted to make more levels and also a life pickup but the time was not enough^^
A fun title, and a great use of the theme. Good job!
The time swap mechanics were great for this, simple clean enemies and level design!
Really fun game! Reminded me of some early web games in the best way possible. Simple premise, clean excution, fun challenge and exploring the core mechanic in a neat variety of ways! Really great entry and fitting for the theme!
