That was fun :D I like the zooming out as your gift tail gets longer and longer, feels like a good progression! Also picking up random items and even Jason from the streets to bring as a present.. that's quite something :P Great job, I had a good time!

I read the dev notes. You made the right cuts. Especially the last one, I don't think it would be fun either if the gift train could break.
Thanks for playing and thanks for your observation. The more I think about it, the more I think that breaking the train would be the wrong kind of challenge.
Regarding the other cuts, I'm actually working on extending the game and adding in the cut feature. I'll probably put it up as a separate project so as to not interfere with the jam submission. I'll put a link in the game description to that new project when I'm done.
Thanks again.
Hi. If you are interested, I did finish the enhanced version and deployed it. You can find it here:

Thanks!
Awesome spin on a katamari-like mechanic. I loved how weird some of the gifts were - was there a crab with a shiv in there????
Only critical feedback was that at high zoom the small items are kinda hard to see. Otherwise, loved it :D
Thanks for playing and your feedback. I'm of two minds on the zoom. I am concerned that the small items are hard to see, but I want that sense of perspective when the train gets long. Not saying I have to copy it, but in the Katamari Damacy games, the perspective does pull back and the smallest items kinda "disappear" as they don't matter much anymore...
I'm working on an enhanced version of the game with more content. I might rethink it and maybe make some tweaks after I iterate through it.
Thanks again.
This is great and surprisingly fun. I love how effective the simple mechanic is. I also like the oddball sense of humor.

Thanks!
2230 points with 101 gifts and I got the "good night sleep"
Was rly fun. Having the gifts follow you made me think of the strawberries in celest.
Only thing I have to say that you should maybe tweak some of the collisions because I got stuck from time to time - I'm guessing you used some box colliders- maybe just round them out and it should be more fluid
Thanks for playing.
Kinda. The grid map uses colliders, but not the player. I was trying out something different where I'd avoid Unity's physics system and not use a RigidBody for the player. I had recently finished Code Monkey's very excellent Youtube course and he used Physics.CapsuleCast() to determine wall collision. I thought I'd try using the Physics2D.CircleCast() and it works, but not super well when approaching corners... The gifts use the same technique.
I might enhance this game after the jam and change the player to use the RigidBody component, but leave the gifts as is. Not sure when too many RigidBody's may cause a problem, but I do hear they have some overhead.
Thanks for the advice though!
Hi. If you are interested, I created an enhanced version of the game. I reworked the movement and colliders. It greatly fixed all my issues. The enhanced version also has some extra features like more gifts and multiple endings. You can find it here:

Thanks!
Very good-natured and positive game. I wish there were more games like this. Thank you!
Dude, so good! I love that the items follow you around, and that you need to collect smaller items to get the big items was a great touch.
I want a child that will give me chris hemsworth and jason statham on my birthday.
The items getting progressively weirder is hilarious (the happy mom bottle aa)
So fun, it sounds like it was really fun to make
Really fun little game, the fact that the items follow you around is really funny while confusing in a good way, requirement of more points to collect bigger items brings it all together because you have to plan out your route. Too bad the music isnt a "perfect" loop but its still pretty nice. And the whole theme of mother's day is really fitting for the date hah
[Just noticed you submitted 4 minutes before, damn, good job hahhha]
Very fun casual game. This kid's mother is going to be happy.
Yup its a fun game, but no I'm not getting my mum that many gifts lol.
Quirky in a way that appeals to me.
Wonderful game, Fun to play, loved the zoom out after every item pickup but would've liked it to cap at some point (not sure if a cap was set and I didn't reach it). Loved the tunes as well. Its a solid 9/10 and fun to play game for me!
Cool game, for some reason having a long train of gifts feels super satisfactory.
Nice job with this submission. Would be interesting to see a mobile version with some extra content~
This one hits home quite close for me. my first idea for the jam was about mothers day too and ı also used kennys asset for my game. Its awesome to see that ı had the same thinking with someone else. Also loved the game the aspect of time limit adds the challenge you need and the point based system to get the items is quite fun.
TL,DR: It was really fun. loved it.
I wasted too much time while searching for assets so ı had to change the story of the game. Also forgot to write but loved the camera getting farther from player as train got longer. and the objects had still their colliders enabled after being added to the train adde a good effect when zigzaging between builidings.
Thanks for noticing the zoom. It's kinda subtle and easy to not notice if you are focused on collecting the gifts. I had some issues with the zoom because I initially had the pixel perfect camera component setup on the main camera I was happy with that, until I realized the zooming would not work because it would break the resolution pixel ratios... So I had to disable it.
Pretty cool game. I was a bit confused with the controls until i read the description. Maybe you could make that the gif you are not able to grab doesn't stop you?.
