Nice little game! The art style is beautiful, I like the contrast between the red balloon and the black and white environment! The gameplay works ok. My only suggestion is that, for improving the puzzles, the push given by the air flow should be independent by the point the balloon enters the flow. In that way, you could control better the puzzles, and make them more interesting. But it's a detail, overall a nice job!
Thanks for playing, and for the feedback. What do you mean about the push of the airflow being independent?
To what I experienced, if you enter the flow on its end, you don't get any push. If you enter the flow at begin, you get max push. So basically, to get the max push you need to slowly go down, and then enter the flow. It's a little frustrating, that's all. But again, it's a detail, not saying that it affects the game badly!
Ah I understand. Yeah no worries, I'm happy for the feedback!
I thought Red was a cute character! Very interesting to limit the mechanic to right and left movement, it added to the challenge of not touching any surfaces
Thanks for playing! I just tried yours out, very impressive!
thanks for checking it out!
Nice and simple, the level designs are amazing, and I like how the balloon is the only one that has color. The music is perfect as it sets a calm mood. I think a charming story would be perfect for the game. Overall, good job! :D
Thanks!! That's a nice idea, a little story to explain how the balloon ended up in this predicament would be a good addition. I just checked out your game and really liked it.
Looks great and has good difficulty with quite a few sad and punishing balloon pops on the way :P
The music and especially that satisfying sound effect when you beat a level felt great!
Thank you! I wanted a very particular feeling for that end of level sound effect, so I'm glad you liked it. I just played your game, it was really fun.
Simple but fun concept, also liked the 1 bit graphics palette!
Awesome! Thanks for playing!
Nice game, didnt get past level 3 tho 😅 kind of got clos to the end of it but didnt seem to have enough wind to get me over the block. The feel of the game was good tho, like the slow mysterious music to the dark background with the red balloon, it really set the feel to it. The dramatic pop end always got me tho
Thank you for playing! The level design is something I tried to put a lot of effort into, but I've never done it before and so am very interested to hear that kind of feedback. The trick is actually to sink down and land on the tuft of grass just before the moving block and wait for your opening, but it may not be clear enough that you can do that.
I loved it. It's very challenging but in a way that makes you want to come back and try again and again. The level design is really exceptional in this regard and it's a pity that that isn't a voting category because its top notch here. I'm sure you're going to do really, really well with this entry. Great work.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me, because I spent a lot of time thinking about the level design, and how it could be improved going forward. Thank you for playing!
I just tried yours out, it's very fun and had a great time with it.
Balloon pop make me sad :( This is a fun game, really great work
Haha perfect, I wanted it to be a little sad. Thanks for playing!
A game so nice, I finished it twice!
Good looking with a happy balloon, everything seems to work perfectly and the levels are structured to seem more difficult than they are once you've gotten used to them.
Dang, that is high praise! And thank you for your comment re: the level difficulty. I feel like you really got what I was going for.
I just played yours. Wow! It felt so polished, and I loved the shapeshifting. Sadly I couldn't experience it in its full glory as I don't have a windows machine and the WebGL was a little glitchy, but I was impressed and enjoyed it all the same.
Thank you for playing it!
I really should have looked into making Mac and Linux builds for it, but without a way to test them I worried I'd be putting out more bugs that I can't fix. Something to figure out for next year. :)
Totally, you'd be flying blind. Clearly I should get a decent Windows PC anyway, since a lot of games aren't released for Mac or Linux. Time to start saving up...
Incredible one guy game! Love it! Play this a lot :) Thanks for the experience
Hey, thanks so much! I really appreciate that. :)
Very good game a lot of fun, liked the art mechanic was very well done
Thank you! I just played yours and enjoyed it very much. Love that "mmm" sound effect when you eat an apple, haha.
This game was so cute, the balloon mechanic was so pretty! Nice work ;)
Thank you! Really appreciate that. Your game looks very pretty as well, but sadly I don't own a windows machine. :(
Funny game. This balloon is not made from quality materials ;)
You are correct, it is a cheap balloon. Heh. Thanks for playing! I just tried yours.
Hi, congrats on your game! :) I really liked your idea, it has a lot of potential for creating new puzzles with new mechanics for the balloon. I completed all the levels, but I took a bit longer on the last one because I hadn't noticed that the balloon could "sit" on the ground and wait for the right moment to move xD
If you have some spare time, please try out my game. It's a classic space shooter from the 80s but with a personal touch. Please leave your honest feedback.
Thank you my friend! Yes I was hoping that I could make it clear the green grass was "safe," but the level design for sure needs some work. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and I would definitely like to continue developing this idea.
I just checked out yours and really enjoyed it. Also, congrats on the new job!
I thought the art style was cool for the game. That final level was very difficult for me but I got through it :). I did that last level like 10 times at least because I kept getting stuck and then when I did get to the end. That HUGE platform came out nowhere and killed me :(. But this was a cool game :)
Man, thank you for playing and for sticking with it! I definitely didn't intend for the last level to be that difficult, but the level design is definitely a work in progress, so thanks for the feedback. :)
Very good submission! The artstyle is phenomenal, the mechanics are pretty good the music is cool and the levels are pretty well thought out. The only thing that I would add is a button to make the balloon go down faster. Good job! (Cloud)
Thank you, and I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out. I've gotten similar suggestions about the balloon falling speed, so clearly something needs to be adjusted there.
I tried to play yours, but I've been struggling to get games made in Godot to work in the browser. Like, any browser. I'm not sure if it's me or Godot.
Idk what the issue might be. I can play it on firefox and edge. What are you using
I've tried it in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I've also had this problem with other games made in Godot. Maybe a security setting? I can experiment with that and try again.
I like the Artstyle very much and the music adds to the atmosphere very well.
I had no problem with the ballon collider but with the collider on the rough surfaces - they extend beyond their visuals so you pop without touching them....
I don't like so much that at some points you have to know how to do a challenge because you only get one try and if you are already too low you have no chance to come back or even get stuck in an unwinable position. On the third level I wasn't sure in the beginning if I could collide with the background because its the same art only grey...
But with a few tweaks this game could be rly something to relax and think a little at the same time
Thank you for the detailed feedback. I think I know what you mean about the colliders not matching up--the tileset I used in the first level leaves a couple of empty pixels around the borders, which is confusing. And those are good points about the level design, which is something I would like to get better at. I think I would like to continue to develop the game, so I will keep them in mind!
you can just change the colliders by hand after you have done your tileset or (even better) you tweak the collider on the single tiles and it should work when you use a ruletile
Thanks for the tip! I learned about tilemaps just to make this game, so I'm still figuring it out, but I will go back at look at that.
wow I really love the minimalistic pixel style, is really hard to achive nice level of details but you really made it, the sounds and the music combines quite nicely too.
One feedback I could share would be about making the ballon collider a bit more forgiving? but I guess it depends on the audience, for people that love challenge definitely work this way. Maybe is just me feeling bad on popping the little happy ballon so many times 🙊
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the kind feedback. I've already played yours and was super impressed. I loved the art style and actually jumped the first time I saw the monster with the disturbing sound design haha.
Re: difficulty, it's so funny--some people have said it's too difficult, and others that it's too easy or boring. I guess there is a really wide variety of skill levels and types of gamers out there. But I would like to get better at level design for sure.
Agree with that, difficulty is relative to the kind of player and depends on the game category too.
I guess the ideal is to optimise for gamers that frequenly play games of the genre. And indeed is never easy to find the balance on the first run. So is about continuous practice, experimentation and collect feedback🤞
I llllove 1bit pixel graphics, even if you added some extra bits ;-) I really liked the idea, but the difficulty ramps ups soo fast. I think I tried that first underground level 20 times and I still have no idea how to get through. maybe I'm just bad.
your mechanical, visual and auditiv implementations are great however.
I can see from your submission that there's a shared affinity for 1-bit art lol. (Loved your game, btw. So good.) I was just saying to another reviewer, it's interesting to see the range of skill levels and preferences when it comes to difficulty. I've had some people say the game is too difficult, and others that it's too easy. But I'd like to keep working on level design and getting better at finding the right balance.
I like the graphics.
Great mechanics also.
I find the air flow well optimised
Thank you, and thanks for checking it out!
