Unfortunately I didn't have time to rate this last night as I planned. Captivating environment and music...
Beautiful environment, and the character movement and animation was good as well. Well done!
Thank you! All animations were Mixamo. I used some in-engine systems to tweak them. The art was fun. I need to optimize everything, but I'm happy with its current state. Thank you for playing!
I like what you have going here. I will say that I kept accidentally quitting the game when I would open the journal. I think after the 6th time restarting, I was finally muttering to myself, DON'T HIT ESCAPE over and over again lol. The only real issues I ran into were when I first started, the camera scoots really far back so I didn't even see the other 2 runes on the steps because the trees were getting in my way. I think it's so you can get an understanding of how massive the door is. Once I was inside, I ran around to both sides but on the right there was a gap I couldn't make. I wasn't sure if it wasn't intended to get that far over there but I tried about 10 times and gave up. Then I went to the middle and got the to be continued scene.
You know. I didn't consider the escape button to be an issue the way it has, haha. It'll be the first thing I fix after this jam. And the tree leaves weren't calculated well. I will have to fix that too! The last rune was poorly placed in crunch time. Thank you for trying so hard. I appreciate you playing my game and giving a thorough run through ๐
Cool game wish I could see more of it! Fun LOTR reference haha
I had the door idea from the beginning of the project. Then I thought of that scene and I had to do it. Thank you for taking the time to play! ๐
I love the art. Would definitely love to see more. Also curious about the story. I hope you continue to work on this. Can't wait to play what you make. Great submission.
I have been coming up with an epilogue while taking a vacation. Thank you for playing! ๐
Wait, I need to see what happened next!
It's a compelling intro, for sure!
I get that the camera zooms out to give a better sense of the ancient runes you're entering, but since the player still has control of it, what I ended up seeing was a bunch of tree leaves blocking my view. :) If possible, in a situation like that it would be better if the camera was locked in place so you could give the exact frame you want to display.
Solid advice! I'll look into making adjustments! Thank you for that. I appreciate you taking the time to play ๐
Very beautiful game, and not just for a game jam. I love the aesthetics. Great job!
Thank you! I found your game to extremely fun! I appreciate the kind words ๐
Beautiful graphics, wonderful music. I can't find anything to improve. Fatastic job! Congratulations!
Thank you! Your game was very impressive, so I appreciate the comment! ๐
nice graphic
Thank you. I spent too much time creating the art. I kept changing my vision. I appreciate you taking the time to play! ๐
Well, now we need the continue. Short but cool introduction
Hahaha, thank you. I wanted to actually make a whole dragon and have to need to recapture them, but alas! The time slipped away! Thank you for playing ๐
Cool looking game!
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Unreal Engine for game jams because it's usually huge overkill, people can't handle it and submit broken games or games that would take much less work in other engines and the builds would be ten times smaller in size.
But this is probably the first game that really works and looks cool, so great job!
Thank you! I do agree that UE doesn't really fit gamejam vibes. But I am glad you enjoyed the game. I appreciate your time ๐
nice take on the jam idea , wish it was web build too though . many ppl wont get to try it
Yeah, the web builds is a big deal to a lot of people, which I get for convenience. Thank you for taking the time to play it
Good visuals and gameplay. I think my only complaint was the camera. It tended to zoom way out so it was hard to see where I was going
Yeah, the regular camera didn't really give a good view of the door and its crystal, so I wanted to be able to allow the player to experience the art effort. But I understand the feeling. Thanks for taking the time to play.
Awesome take on the entry! We really like the atmosphere and the exploration tone of the game. The sound and music really immerse you in the game. Thanks for submitting!
Thank you for taking the time to try out my game! I appreciate the kind words ๐
Great story telling, I loved the idea of finding clue in your journal to affect the world.. good luck with the jam :)
Thank you. I wanted to do so much more with the journal, but alas! Thank you for taking the time to play ๐
The game is very interesting, you manage to set the atmosphere well! I love the journey mechanic.
There is a slight delay when I mouse click in the journal, it doesn't have that snappy interactive feeling, but maybe this is intended. Also, the camera snaps to different locations when I exit the journal.
Thank you for making and submitting this, I liked it a lot!
Yeah. I was having trouble with the key focusing on the journal. I don't do UI too often, so it could use a little polishing. and there are two different cameras that activate, based off journal access, so that's the snapping. I tried to fix it, but didn't have time and it's so minor that I let it go. Definitely wanted to though. Thank you for playing. I appreciate your time.
i like the game i just dont like that i have to download exe :D
Yeah, the in-browser games are so convenient for something that is played for such a short amount of time. But I've never coded something like that before. I appreciate you taking the time to try, thank you for playing ๐
The journal was cool and put you in the mindset of actually being in-game, thematically the game is awesome.
Thank you! On day-1 I made the runes and I wanted to utilize them as a switch system, but I liked the idea of the journal as the input system more. Thank you for playing ๐
Including a Journal with spells and such is a very nice mechanic that should appear in more games, it's such a nice in-universe "action bar" to make you feel like you are a real adventurer. Loved the atmosphere having a sombre exploratory tone. My only complaint would be the game closing after the Thanks For Playing screen. Other than that it was great!
Ah, yes! I didn't have anything that followed, but I agree. I should've planned better. Thank you for playing it through ๐
Very neat submission. Bonus points for the LOTR references
Thank you. I was hoping people would enjoy a little ode to the OG content. I appreciate you playing!
