That was fun! The mechanics are competent, the art is proficient, the character design is charming, and the soundtrack is catchy. Spamming the attack made encounters a bit trivial, but it was fun to use!

The sound that plays when hitting and destroying enemies is weirdly tinny. The destruction sound isn't very loud, but it always peaks the audio above +0.0 dB. It's a strange sort of audio error.

All-in-all, good work!

Thank you for you comment! We'll look into the audio error you mentioned, thanks.

The character art and concept gave me such a chuckle, this one was a fun concept. Perhaps I am just Bad_At_Game(TM) but I did have a lot of trouble on this one

Love the groovy soundtrack! Character and background designs also feel very full of personality.

While it is quite simple mechanically, there's a lot of little touches that I enjoyed, like being able to jump on projectiles and slap them away, or how the sign enemies actually try to create distance before firing at you.

Short but sweet. Hope the team can keep developing this!

Developer

Thank you! We are actually pretty proud of how the mechanic of jumping on enemy bullets feels. Glad you enjoyed!

I like how you don't stop midair when you jump for some reason.

i think maybe you need to hit enemies too much before they die.

overall i like the graphics and aestthetic, especially the soundtrack!

Developer

Thank you for playing! The idea was to reflect the enemy bullets, as hitting them with their own bullets deals a lot more damage that just hitting them with the trunk, but I can see how we didn't comunicated that very clearly in he design.

Really good art and great music! The enemies are maybe a bit too tanky though...
Well done!

Thanks. But I really enjoyed your ending scene. The wind blowing in the hair of the player character was epic!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The deal with the enemies is that they are supposed to be dealt with by reflecting their own bullets at them, that way, they are defeated with only a couple of hits. We made it so that attacking them with the trunk only makes half as damage in order to incentivize the player to use the reflection mechanic. Problem being, obviously, that it is actually safer to just whack at cornered enemies instead of bothering with reflecting their bullets. We needed to rethink the enemies behavior to better compliment of gameplay, but alas, we run out of time! Hopefully we can expand on the game after the jam and improve on this!

Ah I see! I didn't realise that, good to know!

Nice work. Art and music is spot on. Especially liked the game over music!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, the game over music surprised us on the rest of the team when we heard it too, our composer did an amazing job there!

Overall a pretty solid game, now I'm not an epic gamer so this did feel like playing I was playing bloodborne at first but it is very short so I can't complain to much and the art is awesome nobody is disagreeing with that, the audio is solid and it feels fairly game boy-y (totally a word) I think the spooky is unique but I don't think it quite lands  because well it just doesn't really look spooky, I like the idea but in the game there just isn't enough there to really work but for what it is, this is really nice. Good work overall!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, we ended prioritizing the quirky/cutesy Game Boy platformer aesthetic and I can see how that diluted the spooky factor, but I am glad you enjoyed it nontheless!

The art of this game is amazing! I really like the concept as well, playing as an elephant in the big city. This definitely feels like it could have been a GameBoy game, great job!

Developer

Thank you! Our artist put a lot of work into the atmosphere. Glad you enjoyed it!

Having spent a lot of time on the GB Jam discord, this one was one of the games I was most excited to play. It did not disappoint. Magnificent visual design and a great core mechanic in this one. It is quite tough though, at least for me. Very cool.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much for the kind words! I, for one, was personally worried the game might be a tad too easy, so I am kinda glad to hear you found it tough haha!
