Is this really a game jam game? It feels so fleshed out and polished! From the loading screen with the tombstone Gameboy cartridge, it grabs your attention and never lets go. The sprites are beautifully detailed, and the music and sound effects fit perfectly. I love how the four colors were used creatively with the lamp and shader. The screen transitions feel very Gameboy-esque. I played for quite a while, expecting to reach the end, but it kept presenting new and increasingly challenging puzzles. Definitely one of the best submissions I've played. Awesome game!

I love this game! The art, the gameplay, the sound, it's all top notch! Nice job!

The mechanic of capturing ghosts in your lantern and it inheriting their power is such a good idea.  Everything about this game (the art, gameplay, sound) just oozes quality. Truly a pleasure to play.

Really cool, fun puzzle explorer. Amazing music and art, original gameplay, and super polished!

This was a very solid idea for a puzzle game, I loved how much interplay there was with both the chain mechanic and the ghost mechanic when it came to traversing the environment, and I especially appreciated how you sometimes had to work with weird angles to hit levers. This game clearly had a lot of love poured into it, so hats off to the team!

What a nice game! I really liked the artstyle and colour palette - overall very polished and a nice atmosphere.

The timing for increasing the difficulty and adding new mechanics was perfectly chosen. I especially loved the parts where you had to combine the different mechanics to solve the puzzle.

I had a lot of fun! Great work!

I got 8 of 9 skulls. I think I have to play it again :)

This game is amazing! The art, the soundtrack, the sfx, the lighting, the gameplay-- all fantastic! I could listen to the first level's soundtrack all day! And the way all the mechanics blend together for some puzzles makes them satisfying to solve.

Also, was that an amongus in one of the paintings next to the stairs??

Developer

Thank you so much!! What's an amongus?

Submitted(+1)

*Among Us-- the silhouette looked like the characters from Among Us haha

Developer

not sure what this is? is it a game?

Excellent game, great art style, fun puzzles, cool mechanics and superb soundtrack/sound design. Just wished it was longer and had a boss fight at the end xp. Y'all did an amazing job.

I'm in awe, this is fantastic! Congrats!!! Dynamic lighting is heavenly

At first it seems whatever, but after introducing more and more mechanics it gets really interesting. I like the fact, that it is really easy to kill enemies, but it becomes challenging when you can't kill them because you would lose the ability thet you need.

In the end it is a really nice game, especially for a game jam.

PS. I got stuck in the beginning at the moment where you have to bounce the lamp from the wall for it to trigger a lever in a pit. I didn't realize that you can do that. Maybe if the lamp bounced a little even when thrown straight, it would be more intuitive

Developer

Thank you for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle

- p.s. yeah we realised after the jam was over so I added a tip to the controls page on itch.
hopefully people will see that

Saw all the positive feedback ahead of time and it still surpassed my expectations!

What engine did y'all build this in?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! - we made it in godot!

That was my guess! Big props capturing the really authentic GB vibes with the more modern tools.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah the team were really decisive on keeping it as GB-like as possible, to the point of making animations less smooth on purpose haha

Amazing game! feels complete and fun to play! I'd love to see this becoming a full title :D

This is a real gem. Graphics are great, mechanics are fun, sound is superb. This is the kind of game I would happily spend my time playing outside of a jam. Excellent work to all involved!

Incredible contribution, with gorgeous graphics, catchy tunes, multiple levels and interesting mechanics. I feel humbled.
