Really fun game! Spent a good amount of time playing this one. I gave up in the second half of the level with the automatically changing lights, but I'd be keen to give it another try down the road. Good job! Nice level design and concept. (Also, I'd be grateful if you checked out my game as well :) )
Thanks for the comment! If you are stuck, use the walkthrough video I posted in the comments section below. It'll help you get through some of the difficult parts of the level, especially levels 4 and 5, which I made it harder than I originally intended to.
Really great use of one mechanic! The narrative was also great and the game used lighting in an interesting way. Well done.
Thanks for the comment! I had a great time working on this game.
For those of you who are stuck on some of the levels and/or are having trouble finding all of the secrets, here's a walkthrough video I've made:
This is a remake of a walkthrough I made yesterday, except it uses a different recording device and has a better video quality.
Really cool game, I love the Atari style graphics.
Thanks for the comment!
I like playing (and making!) such dark games that give a special atmosphere ! I enjoyed the gameplay
Thanks for the comment!
I like the concept! Overall, it's a good game, well done.
PS : Perhaps a bit too dark though...
Thanks for the comment! I was debating myself on whether I should turn up the brightness or not and decided not to in the final version, because when I did it, I was able to see the entire level layout (my computer's brightness setting is at 80-90%). My goal was to make the player feel alone and trapped in a dark and cursed cave. Perhaps when I update the game after the Jam, I should increase the light radius for all of the torches.
You're absolutely right for the feeling, and I think increasing the light radius of the lamps would be a good idea.
I had more fun the 2nd time around (and after turning my screen to max brightness). I get the cave aspect, but man is it not fun to play almost blind lol. Still, was an enjoyable platformer at the end of the day. Nice work.
A lot of work has gone into this game. Full story and interesting puzzles. I got stuck on level 5 so I watched the video to the end. Shame on me. Great job.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I'll admit that the final two levels of my game are pretty hard and need fast reflexes and good timing to get past certain sections of the level. I wanted to make the game challenging after the player has gotten past the first two levels (which are easy), but I think I might have gone a bit too far.
This was a quaint and challenging puzzler. The atmosphere is fantastic. It's a tad dark around the player, and I stepped off a couple of ledges at first, but it did make exploring with the ball of light rewarding. The mechanics were really fun. I was also engaged by the story of the end of Alteris.
I only ran into one major bug; I think a couple of wisps in the second level (the ones right next to each other) were mistakenly linked to the torch on the top of the cliff, instead of the one near them.
Great work!
Thanks for playing my game!
>I think a couple of wisps in the second level (the ones right next to each other) were mistakenly linked to the torch on the top of the cliff, instead of the one near them.
Hmm, that's weird. I did a quick playthrough of my game, and the purple wisps were only active when the torches on the bottom section of the level were lit.
I replayed this section in chrome and the gd.games version to make sure it wasn't a browser bug or a site build difference. Though I wouldn't discount something bizarre happening on my end. It was very easy to get past, it just required a little exploring.
liked the art style. The glows etc were spot on. Nice game over all. Well done
wow that's a smart idea to control a light ball and turn on the lights with multi colors to get platforms ! :0
I was able to beat all levels except the one where the lights start changing by themselves, there are stairs to the bottom and here where i got stuck >.< didn't know what to do D: the blue platforms are always Off and the red one just despawn after few seconds, which is not enough to get to the other side <.>
Overall, amazing game ! :D
Are you talking about level 5 with the red and blue platforms? Yeah, that section is tough. Once you have lit the brown torch surrounded by the red fire enemies on the right, you'll need to stand on the blue platform with the second brown torch high above. However, you must not light the torch until the red platform below you has phased in, because if you light the torch too early or too late, you won't have anywhere to stand on and fall to the abyss below. I even died several times while trying to beat my own game, especially levels 4 and 5; I made those levels tougher than I originally planned. >_<
Thanks for playing my game!
I tried the itch.io version in fullscreen but the right side of the screen was cut off nevertheless. The gd.games version works flawlessly. "Ladders are for losers!" lol :D Cool idea and a nice dialogue system! I wasn't skilled enough to finish the second half of the third level. Couldn't get the timing right when I had to jump from a disappearing green countdown platform to a red platform above it that hadn't appeared yet.
Thanks for the reply. I'll admit that levels 4 and 5 are pretty tough and that you need to have precise jumps in order to get past some difficult sections of the level. And this is the first time I've uploaded a game on itch.io (and not on GDevelop), so I was not able to get the screen settings correct. XP
Nice little game with good mechanics, well done
Thanks for the comment! I'll be sure to check out your game once I have time.
I'm absolutely enamored with this game; it's an incredible concept and a fantastic utilization of the theme! In terms of feedback, I'd recommend focusing on enhancing the graphics substantially and crafting a polished UI design for both dialogues and menus. With these improvements, you could effortlessly consider publishing this game across various platforms. Tremendous work!
amazing! A very unique game
The dialogue system is nice!
