love the idea! and it feels really nice to trap enemies in oil and then lighting it on fire! (the music is epic to!)

Fantastic entry. I love the art. You were inspired by a clear source without ripping it off, which is a delicate balance and you nailed it.

I had a blast sliding around and lighting a blaze, but after a while and a few restarts, I see some areas where I think you should take away player choices and force use of the mechanic. I wish I could slide for just the amount of time I'm holding slide instead of the fixed time. I found this cumbersome when destroying doors, then realized I could just throw a molotov at them without placing oil first. Then I realized I could kill bunnies without laying any oil and could just camp and snipe, even from across platforms:

You have such a unique mechanic and fun movement system. I suggest you think about ways to remove ways for the player to work around your character abilities. Force me to use the slide an molotov instea of throwing molotovs directly on enemies and walls.

This is one of my favorite entries and I can't wait to see where you take it from here.

Thanks a lot! This is really good feedback. One thing I could do to limit how overpowered molotovs are, is to also make pink rabbits immune by it, leaving the yellow rabbit's weakness to themselves. This way, you are forced to kill pink rabbits with puddles. I was planning to change the puddle mechanic based on how long you hold the button anyways, so it's nice to hear more people want it. I'll also make the oil cost based on how long you stay in the state. Thanks a lot again!

Those sound like great updates. I can't wait to try it again.

One other minor thing I found I meant to share video of is that if you hold left and right at the same time, the character doesn't move, but he stays in a run animation instead of going back to the idle sprite. I'm sure that's a simple fix and didn't affect my rating at all. I just noticed and thought I'd share in case you hadn't seen that yet.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I noticed, but it wasn't my focus at the time :) I'll change that as well. Thanks for letting me know :)

I wanted to try this the moment I saw Xanderwood's video!
So cool and "Baba is You" style.

And it plays out great! The feeling of being made out of oil, actually getting hurt from fire yourself, lobbing the molotof around and quickly puddling around to your desired location before it explodes.

You have managed to create such a unique ability with a character and world that supports it thematically and mechanically!

Thank you, I loved it!

Developer

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Getting such feedback solidifies my idea, and makes me proud of myself :) Really happy my vision landed somewhere haha. Thanks for the follow as well, I also followed you back :)

Great game! I love this little oil monster, and it's so fun!

I love the fire, and the art is super nice. Well done on the game!

Thank you! Your comment is what I hoped my game would feel like so I'm happy I've reached my goal :)

Very very cool and smooth game. It's also well finished.

Developer

Thanks! Glad it feels finished hahaha, I still see a lot of stuff I could improve. Thanks for the comment :)

Love the concept and the style. Very unique. Nice game

Developer

Thank you :)

Very cool! lots of good mechanics. The only thing that is a bit janky is the exact positioning of the molotov throws. I found it a little hard to time the throwing and sometimes I would get it close to the bunny but not close enough to kill them. Otherwise really good :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Honestly, Im surprised no ones else mentionned it before, cause it was one of my main concerns, but now im hesitating to leave it like this, and simply change some hitboxes here and there. My idea, is to spawn an explosion hitbox when the molotov hits the ground, and if a rabbit touches it, hell be set on fire. The reason why I dont want to change the weird aiming system, is that the system works fine when you shoot close to you, and its less precise when you throw far, which is kind of realistic and balances the game so that you dont always get sniping shot. The game would be too easy if people only used molotovs, cause I want people to get creative with the oil and the shapeshift mechanic. So yeah do let me know if you think my reasoning sounds weird or if you agree. Thanks again ahahahah at this point im writing this to convince myself :)

Interesting and fairly unique ability. I also like the art, especially the fire effects.
I'm looking forward to see how this will develop! :)

Developer

You would be surprised how easy it was to make the fire effect in game maker studio 2 with the draw while the animation plays function in the editor. Its magic! Took me like 30 seconds to make that fire effect, no joke :)

The character is hideously ugly, but darn if that isn’t a cool ability! Love it!

Developer

He is a monster made of oil after all. Honestly, I didnt put that much time into any of the sprites, but that's the style I was looking for so I can't deny they look a bit rough and simple. Thanks for playing my game!

This was really enjoyable and it was very satisfying to line up a perfect bait-n-burn haha!

Developer

That's what I hoped for! Thanks for playing!

I see some amazing potential here! I especially liked the artstyle, for some reason I loved how far back Oylee's legs when when it was running. One thing I'd change is the oil meter, I'd make it continuous instead of "rounded" to single droplets, and I'd make the "oil flow" ability keep going as long as you hold down the space bar, so you can control mroe exactly how much oil you want to spread. Most of the time, I just needed a little bit and then had to wait for the rest to run out. Also, for me, the hitboxes for sniping the yellow rabbits were annoyingly small. Still, this is my favorite so far, good job!

Developer

Thank you! Really glad you liked it and took the time to write this feedback! I will change the yellow rabbit's hitbox for sure, and probably make the oil trail more connected to the space bar input as well, but I really like the drop UI how it is right now, I love it's simplicity and how it looks. It might feel weird to not have a liquid meter since the oil is liquid, but I prefer it how it is, because of it's weird feeling. Anyways, thanks a lot again :)

I like how you combine the oil with fire, awesome!

Developer

Thanks! That's the player freedom I hoped to give and communicate. Don't know if it's well communicated, but I hope so :) Also tried to sneak in some stealth elements, dunno if people noticed it tho :)

I really liked the concept and the well-explained tutorial in this. Good job!

Developer

Thanks, that's what I was aiming for!
