I loved this cat-herding catastrophe. Your descriptions of the cats were wonderful, as was the general chaos that ensued once the starting gun was fired. I ended up coming in second place after staving off the lead cat with a few well-placed cucumbers.
I don't know how you would even polish this. Longer race-courses? A curved track? More cats? Maybe a lil' tickler with a long recharge time, or a laser pointer.
But that said, y'all did great work with this. Well done!
Very nice take on the theme! Unique gameplay, and super cute pixel art!
Oh man, this might just be the most out of control game I've tried so far, in a good way! Separating my cat from the rest of the pack was a ridiculously hilarious challenge, and despite my best efforts to strategically place fish and cucumbers, the best I got was second place... The cat names and descriptions are a fantastic touch; just knowing my cat's backstory pushed me to try and bring them to victory!
haha this was a really fun game. Extremely frustrating but a lot of fun, and when I was able to coax my cat across the finish line to finish in first place I was so proud. There was also a surprising amount of skill involved, even though it seems like it's almost random. I had a great time playing it. Great job!
You can definitely get a feel of what strategies work after a few tries yeah!
very nice game ! cute and challenging, funly enough I remembered the undertale snail race playing this game 😉
What a nice game! I really like how the cats start the race early or leave the track, is supports the idea so well! While there was quite a bit of randomness involved at times, I enjoyed this entry a lot :). Well done!
It was originally me forgetting to stop them before the countdown finishes but we found it funny so we left it in haha
I trusted Jeremy, because DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO !... I should have listened... he ended up last... Great game with a lot of pursonality (I'm not sorry) the game could use a bit more polish to be a full game but I'd gladly play a post jam version ! Great game, Keep it up !
Wow, my cat is the worst. :D This is a really clever idea well executed, I had a lot of fun playing it. It's a bit similar to what we made - a game where you can only influence the character by placing items on the level, but not directly control where he's going or what he's shooting at.
Real good job here. :)
I loved this game! I was scared it was going to be just a standard, "Watch the cats race," sort of deal, but I love the controls that you put in to influence the race. Even though my cat lost, I feel like the real winners were the cat friends I made along the way. Thank you for this, it made me really happy.
Thank you for submitting your game to the stream! I had a blast :D
I love cats, but the first cat I picked came in last (obviously 100% due to the cat and 0% due to me being bad at the game). But the second time it went a lot better. I found that the food was best used to stop cats in the lead and the cucumber as a "boost" for my cat. Unfortunately the last cucumber that would have scared my cat into winning... well wasn't scary enough :D
Really cute graphics, cute concept and cute entry! Great job overall :)
That's definitely one of the strategies that we found while playtesting, it's great that you enjoyed it :D
This game reminds me of my childhood with those little cute NES games I used to play. Very cute idea and the execution was well done. Little things like the fish clouds really brought it all together and made it enjoyable. Well done!
Jeremy.
He's up to something
Really fun game and a nice take on the concept!
Ah yes, cucumbers. The cat's natural enemy. Enjoyed this one, though it seemed like my chosen cat was always purposefully heading left instead of right haha. Well done!
Yeah it sometimes just do be like that haha cough cough rubberbanding cough cough
classical music? Check
enjoyable sprites? Check
Fish/clouds? CHECK CHECK CHECK
always thought cats were a bit capricious, thank you for confirming that!
Really nice game!
It's like trying to herd cats!
I really like the concept of this game, different character options keeps it interesting with the cats having different personalities, one thing you could add to make the gameplay more dynamic is random fish/green things being placed to add a bit of variety to the races as once you have the basic controls it becomes less of a challenge.
Overall a really good take on the theme, if it was multiplayer I think it would be even better, but that's a small detail.
Haha yeah we actually really wanted to add multiplayer, but this is our first attempt at making a game so there wasn't enough time in the jam for us to figure it out.
very cool! i really liked it, please continue working on it! check out my game too!
Nice work!
If you ever wanted to know what it's like to own a cat... this is it.
