A really impressive entry into the jam, and funny too. It was certainly a unique approach to the prompt.
A few more finishing touches would have been great, but I assume there wasn't enough time. As it stands the game we got was actually really solid and fun to play. Would love to see more, with things like a menu system and other traditional JRPG elements included, even if you do your own take on these things.
Thank you!
We had «menu» as an optional feature if we found the time, however 48 hours passes quite quickly. Would love to expand (and twist!) some of the other core mechanics of JRPGs at a later time as well :)
Very funny game. Also surprised it was put together in 48 hours. Very good job!
Thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed it :)
That was entertaining while it lasted. Quite a cheeky take on the theme too. I can't believe you did all this in 2 days, so well done for putting together a polished game that has all the elements of a typical JRPG! Now imagine what you could do in a year... :)
Thanks! Surprised myself how it actually came together in the last couple of last hours. Not eveything is perfect, but I can’t even imagine how this game would look with a year of dev time :)
Definetely had me chuckling a bit! I can't believe you managed to make a little rpg in a weekend
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
This story is hilarious. More please!
Thank you! Might expand it some day if we get around to it :)
That was a fun ride! Beginning was a bit hard to get around but it really changed for the better. The dialog was fun and a nice throwback to old classic JRPGs.
Poor carrot farmer.
Nice usage of the theme!
Some work on colliders would be nice in town as well, make it a bit easier to navigate :) Good work!
Thank you! We thought it would be an interesting take on the theme if we changed the framing of a traditional JRPG, instead of only looking at the gameplay.
We will definitely fix up the town to make it easier to navigate, but also add button prompts when you are in range to interact with characters or objects. Thank you for the feedback! :)
Beautiful presentation and art! I was confused where to go at times and of the controls, maybe you should write these out somewhere for the player?
Thanks, and a good point! :) Just to make it a bit more visible I'll post controls below.
Controls:
WASD or Arrow keys - movement
Space - interact with characters
Well made considering the time constrictions! Definitely focus on adding more unique game-play if you are going to expand on it. The "against his will" theme was well done
Thank you! :)
The most unique aspect of the game is narrative at the moment, but also that the gods will resurrect our hero if he dies in combat until he actually fulfills his destiny. If we expand the game, we will definitely make the gameplay more visible and unique!
The idea for a game is quite ambitious, but you made a good job to make it fun in only 48 hours! The story is sad, though, it reminds me the cabbage man from the Avatar The last Airbender... keep up with the game!
The poor cabbage man, always getting his cabbages destroyed :( At least in this game, it ends on a happy note!
(Ps, did you try "run" in combat?)
This is nice! I like the more narrative take on the theme. I wish the combat and dungeon could have been a little more fleshed out, but I understand with the time restraints. Overall, nice work!
Thank you! :D
Would have like to expanded combat and dungeon as well. But also added more narrative content if we had more time. But I'm still pretty happy with we managed to do in our first game jam :)
Hey, congratulations on your first jam! You should definitely be proud of what you've done.
Good game. Like the style
Nice job!
Thank you. It's hard to get a consistent art style in only 48 hours :)
poor farmer, its always some god like creature that messes up your life :>
It happens every time :(
