This is brilliant. You're literally forcing the player to surrender and relinquish control after teaching them that doing so can be dangerous.
I think in terms of the theme, this is the most creative entry I've seen so far.
Nicely done.
I love the elevator music!
Nice idea! I liked the art of the panels and the music that plays with them
This is a really cool idea and very well executed! Great job!
Whoa. I love this. The mechanics and the level design delivers the message very well.
<SPOILERS>
The way the game starts by making sure the player knows they're in danger, then repeats that lesson several times. By the end you don't encounter any more cliffs and you think "Wait... am I safe now?" and push on, despite being a bit nervous. That's a genius idea right there.

Also, the music is great.

I'm so glad you felt all that! We wanted to condition the player to be fearful and establish a habit of staying in control. The goal is to then unlearn and have faith, despite all the betrayal one may have faced. We really tried to gamify the human struggle of letting go after having built up so many walls and defense mechanisms through life.

Thank you for your in-depth comment!
Talking about the overwhelming thoughts! Pretty cool idea, it makes you see the emotional side of the character and it gives a complete twist for a platformer game. Also nice selection of music and art I really enjoyed.
Keep it up with the great work!
Matches the theme perfectly!
Wah, very cool. I definitely found myself going on the emotional journey you seemed to be targeting. From being curious about it, to trying to fight it, to trying to exploit it, to accepting it. Very nicely done. Your sound and writing made this a deeply unnerving experience and it worked perfectly. Great use of the theme.
This is like my favorite comment so far! Thank you for playing the game and leaving such a thoughtful comment.
Perfect fit for this jam... gamifies the player's lack of control.
Weird in good ways. A well executed game with an interesting concept.
Great take on the theme as well as good music and visuals!
Nice walking animation btw.
But more seriously, great theming, neat ending and cool music. Great job!
SO cool. those cliff gave me heart palpitations haha ... the most unique concept I've seen so far. awesome job. The music and artwork match it perfectly. I will say the music gets repetitive, especially if you are only holding down the arrow key in short bursts. Maybe a way to improve this would be to have the loop playing constantly but its muted while you're not moving. just a thought. Very very cool concept, nice job.
Also here's the game I did audio for if you wanted to check it out, thanks! https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/696287#post-1639104
Dude thanks for the feedback. Yeah someone else who play tested it said the same thing. If we update this once the jam is over, we might create some variety around the music. I'll check out your game soon. Later today I'm gonna go check out a bunch of games!
Solid game! Very fun mechanic. You can kinda spoof it by just hitting forward quickly to see how far you are going.
this should be in the top 100! really unique concept dude!
Aw thanks man!!
Note for players with epilepsy or similar conditions: This game contains multiple sequences of rapidly changing colors and brightness.
Really like the idea here. I think it's super creative and definitely fits the theme. Never made it to the end. I just couldn't quite make one of the jumps, maybe the game could be a bit more forgiving? I definitely like how this can make each movement an interesting puzzle, but I don't want to be fighting the game and my own awful skills :P
Yeah man some of the jumps might be a bit far! The level design ended up a bit different than we originally had it after we got the graphics in haha. Thanks for playing it!
Whoa! Nice job! The game play is really unique.
Very trippy! Cool ending.
Nice! I'm glad you made it to the end.
this was so much fun and it went with the theme so well
