The controls feel a little unreliable (I guess it fits the theme!) its really tough to use the water to get the cats in line, as the water comes out in small spurts and the cats move way faster than the water. Catnip cooldown also feels a little long and needs to be communicated clearer (e.g. it should show red and highlight when recharged). The intro at the start, cute pixel art and SFX sells it though.
Great game! I saw it onTaco's stream and was pretty amazed by how good it looks!
Great job!
Love the art and the sounds and music are amazing 😆! Great game :) !
Good job, awesome music! What would you change the most if you had the opportunity?
I would have liked to make the plaza area where the cats were meant to be herded into a bit easier to identify. I also would have liked to completely iron out the bugs that were present in the HTML5 version of the build. There are also some quality of life features that would have been nice and would have made it easier for players, like a minimap or an arrow which pointed in the direction of the plaza. Thanks for taking the time to play!
As an artist I would have added a few illustrations at the beginning for a cinematic look and one at the end with granny petting all the cats. As for design elements I think the level design does not favor the mechanic but we ran out of time. A more open map would have been better but we ran out of time and couldn't test it properly
Very fun. The controls take a bit to get use to, but the art and sound make up for it.
This is a great game!! Pretty art and cat music!. Gameply loop is really fun, a bit hard to grasp (or maybe I'm really bad at it xD) . Nice job!! Loved it!
I liked a lot the pixel art of this game and the concept is pretty great too.
Awesome job making the cats react to the repellent, cool AI stuff! Game looks really polished and very well developed! Keep it up!
Finally, the long lost art of cat wrangling is getting the attention it deserves.
The game definitely scores points on originality. I don't have any criticism but I will throw out the idea of perhaps in the future playing around with the idea of adding a mini map? Just so the player can see more or less where the remaining cats are.
Good job!
This game is excellent! I love the music, I love the art style, I love herding cats with catnip bombs and a water gun.
It took me a minute to figure out what I was doing, but once I got the hang of it I had so much fun. At first, I thought WASD would move me (instead the player's character follows the mouse). And I spent my first minute trying to move the two cats I accidentally trapped into the building at the back of the area. Eventually, I figured out what I should do and I went out and rounded up another 15 cats.
The cat AI works really well and the game feels responsive and intuitive (once I got past that initial hurdle). The music and cat SFX add so much to the game feel --- great job there too!
The perfect mix between cats and western I didn't know I needed. The art and audio of the game are really great! :D It gives a fantastic vibe to the whole experience.
The game iself is sweet too! A bit chaotic sure, as all herding games. But the mouse control is really intuitive and fun. I did not understand why I was losing cats that were already in the plaza, but I guess they're cat.
Fantastic game overall! :D
As a fellow cat-herding game maker, I absolutely had to play this, and I'm super glad that I did.
The game's super charming and looks+sounds amazing, even if I never really got the hang of the mechanics. I had a lot of trouble trying to figure out where I was trying to get the cats towards, and I think I expected the water to be shot from me in the direction I was looking, instead of appearing where I clicked?
I noticed some UI jank as well, with some textboxes and things appearing only half on-screen on my MBP 15", whether or not I was full-screened.
The funny thing is though, I didn't find myself minding any of that: I just really enjoyed riding around seeing what the cats were doing, accomplishing not much of anything. An excellent experience.
Hey I also made a game about herding cats!! Great minds think alike! Love the art and the direction you went with it. Mines more of a puzzle game!
