I love everything about this game. Art, style, those paralax backgrounds, idea of playing cards to turn the ship in space. Really great entry!
The colored wings and cards are an extremely clever solution to not knowing which side is going to turn! The game is very good, I just which you could simply click the cards to flick them instead of having to drag your mouse over the ship.
Yea, that as well as hotkeys to play cards will be coming right after the jam is over. I just didn't have time to implement it. Come back then and check it out :D.
I dig the customization options and I think the card system is very interesting!
Here I was following the dotted red line wondering why the timer didn't work, until I noticed the blue arrow leading me all the way back to the start. I played for while after figuring out how to play the game, but there didn't seem to be an end. Perhaps there can be some instruction saying that you need to fly towards the direction the blue arrow is pointing. In addition to a counter showing how many blue circles you have reached out of the total amount. I do like how the colour of the cards is linked to the colours of your ship.
Unfortunately, the game was laggy as hell for me so I didnt really enjoy the music too much, but from what I heard , it was excellent, the game all round looks and sounds incredible and I like how it fits the theme, good job! :D
Did you play on smart phone or laptop? I should be correcting that RIGHT when the jam is over. All of the asteroids (several hundred) are active off screen, so whatever you're playing it on is probably chugging because of all the off screen physics processes. I'll put in a quick thing to fix that tonight and update the game when the jam ends. Come back and try it then and let me know how it plays XD.
Yep, Im playing on a bit of a craptop, that would exaplain it lol, Ill put it in my collection of games to check out after the jam, Im glad youre fixing it, thanks! ^^
Nice game play and game feel. I like how simple and fun it is. I would suggest considering to add some actual damaging hazards for potential later levels but I also appreciate how relaxed it is without hazards that kill you as well. Great work overall.
Damage was left on the cutting room floor, which was lucky because it showed me that bouncing off the asteroids as a form of steering is really fun XD. I'll probably find some way to include damage (along with enemies and more to do) in such a way that bouncing off asteriods comes at a minor health cost. Maybe I'll give you a standard "Hull and Shield" set up so that part of your health regenerates, making the small health cost of bumping and asteriod mostly negated by your shields. We'll see...
I really liked the idea and the execution, very good use of the ship's colors. I think in a touch screen or with some hotkeys for the three cards it can become even more fun to play! Congratulations!
Yea, hotkey support is coming right after the jam. I'll probably also rework it to work on smart phone. As of right now, it's playable on my smart phone but the sound is bugged and the resolution isn't suitable for a phone.
Nice concept and also good animation on the cards When the ship is flying downwards I kept making the wrong choice of directions haha.
Yeaaa, the color of the arrows on the cards corresponds to the color of the half of the ship that is in that direction (ex: left turn cards are blue, left side of ship is blue). I was hoping that would be adequate but I also get confused by that sometimes. I may eventually add some sort of indicator to show which way a card will make you turn when you highlight it, although I'm worried that will look gaudy or make the game feel too easy. I'll probably implement it and see how it feels. Thanks for the suggestion.
Very nice, very good looking, very good sounding, very good feeling, great overall. Feels the right amount of simple, but with the potential for stressful and exiting situations. I did have one bug though, when i tried to flick some of the cards they would get stuck to the pointer and i would have to click again.
I'll look into that bug. I thought I worked all those kinks out, but obviously not. Thanks for the info.
What a neat little concept, I think if you worked on this as a mobile game there'd be a lot of potential :D As a jam game it also stands out really well, good use of the theme and really impressive work overall!
Thanks a lot man. I'm going to work on it after the jam as a cross platform project (the Godot engine makes things like that pretty simple). Follow me if you wanna see more. The mobile friendly version will be out in 4 days when the jam ends :p.
It actual already works on my smart phone. The resolution and sound are just whack.
I was vibing out playing this game. Really sleek controls, I feel like this gameplay could branch out in a ton of different ways to make a bunch of different fun games. Nice work and excited to see more if you continue to work with it!
Haha this was super fun. I didn't do very good but I was still having fun and I think that says something about the mechanics you've got here!
Excellent game. Fun, and very original concept!. Besides expanding the scope of the game, I would have liked to see an easier way to play the cards like num keys 1-3 since the card playing didn't seem to add anything. Great job, I hope to see an update after the jam!
Yea, it's on my list. Hopefully that and whole slew of features will go up the day the project is unlocked after the Jam. Thanks for the suggestion.
Is pretty engaging and challenging. Once you get how the color of the cards turns the space ship you can easily spend some time trying to break your record in time attack. Good Job!
Thanks dude.
Hell yea brother. Stick around. I'm definitely gonna be working on this more when the Jam is over.
Really clever idea! I liked that the randomness of the cards never let you plan out a route to take, it really fits the theme!
Very polished, and great idea. The limited selection of moves is perfect for the theme!
This game is very cool! i love the concept, with this controls i think this game would be amazing as a mobile game, please continue it after the jam!
I definitely plan on it. Thank you. I'll be sure to review your game after work <3.
Oh, also, the first thing I'm doing once this is editable is to implement touch screen controls, so come back in a week and you'll be able to play it in your phone's browser. <3
This is one of those jam games that's the seed of a great game
Thank you so much. I agree. When I got all the mechanics together, I was surprised by how fun it was to play. I'll definitely be working on this project more when the jam is over.
Nicely polished, and a clever idea! I loved the overall mood and art style, and the cards were very intuitive and fun. My only suggestion would be to speed up the gameplay, as I found myself waiting around for the ship to reach the next waypoint (or to bounce off the next planet). Great work overall!
I never managed to implement the mechanics that would allow you to go faster :/. I was gonna have a "Boost" card, but it was left on the cutting room floor. You may or may not have noticed, but the speed of the ship actually slowly increases over time if you aren't turning or bumping asteroids.
I'll be sure to review your game after work, thank you.
