Amazing music! I liked the concept of "scary" karts. I really was scared at the beginning of the level))
Thank you!
A very unique theme! Such a nice game. So creative of you to join "2 themes " together, to make a join together game!
Thank you!
Would you like to try our game aswell?
Sure!
Combining genres I think was such an interesting decision for the theme. Original and I'm loving the nostalgic look of VHS. Well done!
Thank you very much!
I love Vhs style!
Thank you!
I loved the VHS look! creepy game, I like that you combined two genres that never go together.
Thank you! This game was a crazy idea I had with a friend of mine, so I tried and ended up on this VHS ''cursed tape'' kinda project.
Interesting game idea. I don't really see how this ties into the theme of "Joined Together" The visual style was interesting. Loved the guitar at the end
Thank you! About the jam theme, it's sort of a horror game with ''racing'' aspects, that's why the enemies chase you on karts, and also they way it fits on the jam theme.
The theme is joined together? I dont see how it being a horror racing game makes it fit the theme at all.
You have cars, and you have horror, those two are different game genres, so it kinda fits.
I thought alarm head & the player were 'joining' in that ending.
Also, if you wanted to say that without talking about themes, you're joining alarm head with cars. I reckon that's less of a stretch.
Thanks for playing! "Alarmhead" is a game that I've developed a few months ago, and recently I'm scheduling to start developing the sequel "Alarmhead 2". This kart game was kinda of a test project that I had a chance to make, thanks to GMTK Jam, and I've used a few models that may be present on the sequel for the main series. And about the ending, I've never thought about the fact that they're kinda ''joining'' at it, which proves that this game can have many interpretations.
oh dam, I'll have to check it out. I was probably thinking of siren head lol, that does change things a little
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it! xD
Really interesting aesthetic, very creative game.
Thank you!
Haha what an original idea! Wish there was more indication that I had to do a lap to progress!
Thank you! Actually, you just have to survive the enemies until the door is fully open, but do a lap would be a wonderful detail too.
unexpected haha
really creative
Thank you!
You can sprint?!?! I just learned that from reading the other comments... I was able to beat it anyway, but it was pretty hard. The key was waiting for the cars to turn the corners to run past them.
Fantastic job with the effects and horror vibe! Also I thought the startup screen with just the blue color and sound playing was kinda long.
Yes, you can! And about the startup screen, I wanted to give a realistic feel of a VHS tape, and it takes a little bit for the tape to start a VHS player. Thanks for playing!
I don't know if this game fits the theme exactly but i did find it entertaining and loved the look of it. Also see the 1977 movie "The Car"
It fits! It's sort of a horror game with ''racing'' aspects, that's why the enemies chase you on karts. And I'll check out ''The Car'' movie. Thanks for playing!
Nice and simple game. Took a while to figure out that sprinting was essential for the game play. Feedback for it is that if you need sprinting and there is no stamina bar or something, just remove the sprint and make the player faster. Having to keep pressing a button while playing is not challenging, but annoying. The feeling of the game was nice and creepy which I like.
Maybe a point of harsh feedback, objectively this game is just a basic first person game where you touch an object and the game ends. Sadly there is only one level and would be interesting to see how you would experiment with your current mechanics. First level was also quite hard as a first level, but it helped with setting the creepy feeling.
Thank you for you feedback! And yeah, I wanted to bring that ''cursed tape'' vibe to the game, and add a little bit of comedy with the karts, and since the jam is about things ''joined together'' it worked pretty well on the theme, plus, I wanted to test some other things, which ended up on this kinda retro vhs style game. And since it's a jam, I did it as a short game, so everyone should manage to finish it at time. Thanks for playing!
Love the visual style!
Thank you!
Had fun playing this! Well made and interesting style.
Thank you!
I love the VHS theme!
Thank you!
Love the style, but I am confused as to how it fits the theme of "joined together?"
Thanks! It's sort of a horror game with ''racing'' aspects, that's why the enemies chase you on karts. There's a bunch of things mixed on this project to be honest.
Ahhhhh I see, it's the genres that are joined together. Awesome!
Nice job on the presentation!
Thank you!
I like the concept of the game, I just wish it was more forgiving in regards to the enemies. Good Job!
Thanks! The enemies have a certain trick, where you can lure them to a certain side, and run past to another.
Damn that ending was good for how short it was!
I've tried to test a bunch of things on this project, so it turned to be a smooth short game, with some weird ''cursed/dork'' tape thing. Thanks for playing!
So beautiful, love the ending
Thank you!
