Really cool idea, and executed very well! I loved the dioramas, and would absolutely *love* to see more! Two minor details I'd bring up are that moving the magnets around corners felt a little clunky, and bringing the magnets back to the goal didn't really add anything to the game. If you had to solve some sort of puzzle *after* connecting the magnets, that would make sense, but in it's current system, I think ending the level as soon as the magnets connect with each other.

Really great game, good job!

Developer

That's a really really interesting idea! we'll for sure look into doing more after you connect. the main reason we added that extra step is that during our testing, we felt like the game ended way too abruptly when you connected and it wasn't always too clear that you had actually connected the two halves together. You're right tho, it would be nice to have a bit more happen after connecting!

Submitted

That makes sense, I'd love to see what you add!

Absolutely amazing and super relaxing, definitely my favourite game so far. Would love to see you make more levels after the jam!

Developer

Oh wow!!! I'm extremely honoured to hear it's your favourite game so far!!!
We 100% plan to do more levels in the future!

This is an amazing game. It is very calming and a nice all-around puzzle game. Some parts of the game were not properly explained, but once you figured out you can break stuff it opened up. I also love that that you could interact with other parts by dragging (the wooden pieces with arrows), and I see lots of potential there.

The small details were amazing in both the levels, such a good game.

Developer

Thank you so much!

We're definitely fiddling with ideas on how to make certain aspects more understood such as breaking creates! now that we're not limited by a 48-hour deadline we plan on making a propper set of tutorial levels!

Presentation was fantastic, this is a great relaxing game. I especially loved knocking the lever in the right position to open the door. it took me a while to realize I could break the door and make it easier for myself!

Developer

haha yesss, the lever is always my favourite part to watch others solve. I've seen so many different solutions to get the magnet in the middle of the room!

Presentation was stunning love the art! *0* really lovely game! Really nice feel to ball too! The additive secondary follow through motion feels really good too! :D

Developer

Thank you!! as shown in our credits we didn't make the majority of our assets, however, I genuinely feel like Kristina managed to "kit-bash" them together in a transformative way and make something that's we're both so proud of!
I'm really glad you noticed the secondary motion too! I'll be working in the future to make it feel much more responsive and easier to control aswell!

Sweet little puzzler. The controls felt a bit sluggish to me, though that might be because of the way the physics interact with the physics. The ability to manipulate the game world (sliding the panel, destroying boxes) should def. be communicated in some way.

Otherwise the physic interactions were a really nice touch that made the whole thing feel alive. And as someone who still struggles with 3D in Unity I'm super impressed at the level of quality you achieved in only 48h.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

Yeah, the controls were definitely a little hard for me to code, using physics as our basis for the magnets meant that it wasn't as simple as "click and drag" which meant that I had to come up with a really hacky solution haha. I'm planning to more or less completely change the way you move the blue magnet around to help out with all that.
As you've noticed, the physics aspect of the game is super important to us and we really wanna keep that feel. Let's hope I can figure out a better solution for the controls!

Submitted(+1)

One association I had immediately was those old wooden labyrinth games were you  control the tilt with levers in order to get the ball to the end. Maybe that could work, i.e. manipulating the tilt and angle of the "box" rather than dragging the magnet?

Submitted(+1)

Man I am stuck on level 1. It took me a while to get down then it took me a comment to realize that the arrow board can be moved. but still not able to figure out how to do it.

But a great game, its just that I am dumb.

Developer(+1)

I'm sorry to hear that! But you definitely weren't alone, lots of people didn't realize they can click on other things than the blue magnet (which is our fault, not yours!!!)

We're definitely focusing on the tutorial and playability aspect of our game in future updates. Definitely didn't have enough time to fully flesh out a tutorial during the game jam but nevertheless, there'll be one in the future!!

I'm impressed. For a game made in 48 hours, it's well polished and a pretty fun relaxing puzzle game. The only thing I noticed that was a little questionable is that the "You Win" sign is half visible as I was playing each level. Not sure if this was intended, but it was a little odd to see half of the sign from the second I loaded into the game. Other than that though, good job!

Developer

Haha yeah, a few people had that bug, it's thanks to our scaling settings in unity. People with higher resolution screens technically "see more" including all our GUI that was suppose to be hidden off-screen until needed. We'll be making the GUI fully invisible next time so there's no risk of people seeing stuff when they shouldn't yet!

Lesson Learnt!

Either way, I'm still really glad you took the time to play our little puzzle game and I really appreciate the feedback!

Really awesome concept, very charming use of existing assets! Definitely encountered some physics bugginess but I'm really impressed.

Developer

I'm really glad to hear you liked our game!

Unity's physics engine will always be a constant struggle, haha, but we'll get there now that we're not caught up in a 48-hour deadline!

Submitted(+1)

Fun and original concept! It's really engaging figuring out how to get the ball to the exit, even if it is usually fairly straightforward.

I do wish some of the things in the game were communicated for clearly. Such as the wooden panel being movable, the intention being that the red magnet should come out of the box, not making certain walls on the bottom of the first level completely transparent since it's hard to tell that they aren't.

Moving the magnet around the corners also feels janky and definitely slows the game down considerably gameplay-wise

Developer(+1)

Yeah, you're 100% right about all those things!
The playability aspect of the game is our number one focus at the moment, and there are lots we want to convey to the player in future versions of Magnetum!
Thanks for giving us some specifics, it really helps!

Really beautiful with great graphics design and sfx. Took me ages to figure out the blue half shouldn't enter the box.

Developer(+1)

I'm really glad you took the time to play our puzzle game! Thank you for the compliments :)

We'll definitely be making that more clear in the future with a more comprehensive tutorial (and some much simpler tutorial levels to introduce the ideas better) I'm also considering making a slightly transparent red plane over the hole, to help hint towards "maybe only red can get past the hole?"
If you or anyone else has any suggestions outside of a tutorial that you think might help make the hole dilemma more clear, I'd be happy to take notes!

The levels for this game were amazing! I can't believe you were able to put together this 3D game in 48 hours.

Developer

Thank you, the levels were most Kristina's domain. we outsourced most of our assets, which we showed in the credits tab, which really helped us with the time constraint, and let us focus more on how to creatively kit-bash the assets together into a sum that's greater than its parts!

Submitted(+1)

Really great game! It surprised me with its unique idea and just amazing 3D models. The calm music also helped me go through the puzzles. All in all, great game jam submission. However, one nitpick and that's the magnetic connection between them is a bit weak if not too expressed, so that the game takes way too long than it's supposed to.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing our game! Im really glad to hear you enjoyed it!

As for the magnetic connection, you're actually the first one to mention that! So thank you haha, I think you're on to something there. Most people mentioned that it felt "slow" but bringing it back to the connection strength put's it in perspective. ill definitely look into different connection strengths and find one that's just the right amount of pull!

Submitted(+1)

This is a really unique idea! Great puzzle game with well-designed challenges and a fair bit of polish behind it, I do think that move the magnet around corners could be improved, perhaps by uses a cube with rounded corners and edges rather than sharp ones, to allow the magnet to smoothly move around them, but, all in all just a nice relaxing game with a great atmosphere, would definitely be cool to see more of it! Great job!

Developer

Very true! I'm hoping to fix the corner problem asap, and rounded edges are definitely a way to go about that! thanks for the feedback, it means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

great puzzle game, really intereesting idea. theres wuite a lot of polish and this could potentially be extendded to a full release, well done!

Developer

I'm glad you liked our little puzzle game! We agree that there's lots of potential for Magnetum and we're already planing to update the game and bring it to new heights!

I had so much fun playing this game. This was a really clever idea. ~Check out my entry, and give valuable feedback :D

Developer

I'm really glad you enjoyed the game!
I'm actually thinking about streaming tomorrow and playing everyone else's games. I might play your game (and potentially others in this comment section) to give back for the awesome feedback everyone has been giving us!

Submitted(+1)

Very clever little game! I like the use of graphics and music. But I don't know if it is a problem with me but it took me a while to realize that I can actually pull the object with an arrow so maybe it would be better to make it a bit more clear. Also there was some struggling with trying to control the magnet especially when I was trying to get it around the edges.

Developer

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback!

Don't worry you weren't alone with your struggles haha. We plan on updating the game in the future, and our biggest priority is tutorials and playability! I hope future updates will show leaps and bounds from the original game jam submission!

Submitted(+1)

This was a really clever idea, using the perspective to guide the two different magnet halves around. I did struggle with getting the blue half to make corners, it would often get stuck and take a lot of different tries to actually continue moving. The puzzles were compelling, and I enjoyed navigating the spaces that were built in those boxes. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Im so glad you liked the game!!! It really means a lot to see all of you enjoying our little game about magnets!
I'm definitely y going to be focusing on controlling the magnet better in future builds of the game!

I had so much fun playing this game. It reminded me of those pens with the puzzles on the top of it where you click. So nostalgic but better hahaha! Can't wait for more levels if you continue!
