How does your game fit the theme?
The player and the monkey's movement are joined together. When the player moves the monkeys move the same way. You need to find a way to break this joined movement in order to make the monkeys no longer be in your way.

I've seen several games with a similar premise this jam, but this one seems reasonably well executed and without a bunch of extraneous mechanics.

Very nice and intuitive mechanic which you've used to create some very good puzzles! I'd agree with a few other commenters that faster movement would have been nice, but it didn't get in the way of enjoying the game for me :)

Very simple mechanic but great puzzle design and surprising emergent difficulty and complexity.  The narrative theme is also very funny. Well done :)

I feel like this is saying something about me LOL. Great work, loved it!

Clicked for the monke, stayed for the gameplay

The game is fairly simple but it's pretty well done.

I wish there was a little more difficulty to the game, you're givig a lot of space to the player so most of the puzzle can be beaten with the same tactic of stacking the monke against a wall.

The game has a couple glitches too but nothing that really breaks the game.

The atmosphere of the game is pretty cool too (especially the voice acting)

Overall pretty fun :)

Thanks :) glad to hear you enjoyed, I did want to make it a bit harder but some of the people I had playtesting were really struggling so I had to add a bit more easiness to the levels but if I had more time I diffidently would have wanted to make some challenge levels.

Submitted

Yeah difficulty is hard to handle it really depends on the player too, a lot of people told me my game was very hard but one of my friend did a very high score on his like 4th try so it's really different depending on the player.

I think this is a very cool way to interpret the theme, it led to some really nice puzzles! I think decreasing the time between stopping your ability to move would be nice since moving felt incredibly slow. Other than that, great game! (Also I love what you decided to name the game)

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks :), ya I understand that movement issue, I think post jam I might mess around with the movement equation so it feels less slow.

I like the general idea and the puzzles are cool. I wish the controls were smoother but overall it's a nice and pleasant game!

Short and simple, great for a jam game! Just a little more polish and it would be perfect!

I really enjoyed the sound affects and art. Also joining the player and monkeys was a great take on the theme. It reminded me a game that is submitted to an older GMTK jam. It was fun however, it would be better if you put some kind of an input buffering system so that we don't need to wait and then press to the buttons. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) I diffidently agree an input buffering system would have been very useful, sadly time and not enough playtesting lead to me never getting to add a system of the sort. Post jam I'll probably mess around with an input buffer.

Interesting puzzle game, even if the graphics are lacking and the animation doesn’t get cancelled whenever you try to move in quick succession.

Nice puzzles and really cool theme!

Submitted(+1)

very very fun but something I notice most puzzle games people make really need to give out hints r somethng because if your confused what to do it gets boring

Developer

I agree hints would have been good to add sadly I just didn't have enough time so sry bout that

Submitted

its okay, many people forgot to add hints.

Really cool concept for a puzzle game! I really liked the theme you went with along with the sound effects and music. Thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough!

Submitted(+1)

pretty funny! The puzzles were really engaging but the time between accepted inputs could feel really frustrating

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I understand the input delay issue, looking back I should have added a no animation mode for those who don't like the slower inputs.

Submitted

I good way to do it might have been to queue player inputs or jump animations to the end point if another input is recieved

I made it to the bathroom!!

Hilarious concept, and it fits the seem super well! A good reminder to not go to monkey dance clubs, haha

Developer

Thanks! :) Ya Monkey Dance Clubs are the worst

Banging voice lines!

I think the delay on the movement stopped me from completing the last few levels because of my impatience and a not so good ability at puzzle solving. Really cute game with a creative name and presentation.

Developer(+1)

Thanks the voice lines are a product of extreme exhaustion and a desire for new sound effects lol.

Sry bout the delay problems, I do understand the annoyance, looking back I should have added a option to disable animations and make the inputs automatic. Glad to hear you liked it though :)

Haha nice! Perfect touch honestly.

No need to apologise I think you captured a really light hearted theme and you have the right idea for what might've kept players more engaged (At least for those like myself that are rubbish at puzzle games). Good stuff :D

Pretty fun
