I couldn't get the handshakes to work. BUT I loved the art and thought that the story I did see was hilarious
The art is really cool, and the mechanincs are interesting, having to hold down 5 buttons is a bit finiky at times, but overall the art, music and story more than make up for it, well done
I also couldn't play this entry fully, since my keyboard doesn't register multiple keys being held down. But I definitely love the art and the story that I saw (the Dad Dadson and Mom Dadson names cracked me up). Creative idea!
Haha! It a really cool game. Begin with an upbeat atmosphere, and then find out that Dad is really harsh on me. : (
And I love those delicate character and background arts! Good job!
Man, I hate Dad Dadson, what a prick.
Cool idea, but sadly hindered by many people not being able to play it :(
I love the artstyle, I love the music, I love the humor. Gameplay is different for sure, very original I really like when a game is being played in this way, not sure if I will explain this correctly, but when the player plays a second game outside of the game, the second game here is holding on to your grip I like the connection of that we feel simmilar things to our character if you understand what I mean.
Only thing that I would like to see implemented would be being able to skip the typewriter effect on text so that full line would appear instantly.
Great job, and I'm really sorry that many people can't play the game to it's fullest. It was a risky move for sure, but no risk no fun I guess!
Our thinking was "how can we capture the gesture of a handshake on a keyboard?" and we came up with "press a button for each finger!" which sounded fun on paper, but we found out quickly after submitting that not every keyboard supports that. D'oh!
Control issues aside, I'm glad you enjoyed the slice you got! Thank you for taking the time to try it. We want to continue on our idea.
Hey m8. This was a risky entry. Not everyone would make a VN for a jam entry. The atmosphere was cool but I couldn’t make my keyboard register all five keys at once.
Cool entry though. Keep it up.
Sadly I couldn't play this one fully, as my keyboard can't register 5 keys at once. But every other part of the game was great. The backgrounds and their style reminded me of a visual novel, and the core concept reminds me of the kind of game you would see in Wario Ware. Also loved the dialogue. Definitely the hardest I've ever laughed at a game jam game. "leaving you was the right choice" "six months later your casts come off" I was dying. I just wish I could have played it to see more!
