How does your game fit the theme?
The main mechanics are based on the idea of joined together. Your tongue grab connects you to an object or enemy and pulls you to them. You also have the option of merging with an animal which gives you the ability to control them, but you now share health with them.

Love the art style, your thumbnail and that cute voxel art mix with 2D characters really sold it for me.
My only constructive feedback would be to work a bit on the control scheme to make it more intuitive for players. And maybe keep consistency where you can, for instance when taking control of the characters I notice you can move them with WASD but the frog only aims with WASD and moves forward with spacebar.
Little things like that could improve the experience in my opinion.
Great entry nonetheless, kudos.
The game is a bit odd to control and it wasn't too sure what I needed to do. However I like the art and the concept
Not quite sure what I was supposed to be doing. :/ The visual and sound are nice, but between the awkward controls and the odd camera positioning, I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do or how to progress. However, the other people in the comments seem to have enjoyed it, so maybe I was doing something wrong.
Very serene music and cute visuals. Not to be the odd one out among comments but without the space-to-move I definitely would have accidentally moved the wrong direction a bunch of times 😂
Though I usually have that issue with grid movement in isometric views anyway so that might just be my problem. I definitely agree with some camera controls. Good job!
Oh, me and you both xD I added the space to move since I would keep tapping the wrong keys and dying.
I really like the music and gameplay although as others have mentioned, I don't really like how I have to press space to move the frog, aside from that it was very enjoyable
Oh ok! Well thanks for the feedback anyway!
Cute frog! Congrats :), Wish i could move the frog without pressing an extra button.
Thanks! And yeah, it didn't have GREAT controls but I'll be sure to fix that post-jam.
YOUR FROG IS CUTE! SO IS YOUR GAME!!!! X)
Good job buddy ! :D
It really felt satisfying, sticking my tongue like Spiderman!
Thanks so much! :D
I like the artstyle and the music! The concept is also interesting!
I would suggest adding some camera controls as sometimes it is hard to see some things in a few levels, also you could make it so the player moves when we press only one key rather than first aiming the player and then pressing spacebar to hop. You can bind the keys to aim the player to some other key if aiming is important for the tongue grab, like WASD to move one tile, and IJKL to aim the frog without moving
Thanks! Yeah, camera controls are definitely going up ASAP xD I like your idea but I think using Shift or something to hold Hoppy in place might be a cleaner solution.
Cute game! I like the music and artwork, very cute! The mechanics are also interesting! I feel like the camera angle could be a bit better, because parts of the game and puzzles were difficult to see. I think in the first level, instead of having 4 enemies block your path, maybe only have 2 or 3? It felt a little redundant moving back and forth, but that could just be me lol. Again, very cute game! I like the aesthetic and the music fits perfectly! The little notes were also cute! Great job!
Thanks! Yeah, I've gotten a lot of complaints on the camera angle; and honestly I'm there with you. And honestly, never even thought of that one, but definitely a change that needs to be made! Thanks for the compliments on the music! I've been learning music theory for YEARS now, not very good at it yet but thanks c:
Very solid game design! It had interesting choices to make, and was a very unique idea. Felt a bit reminiscent of Super Mario 64 and 3D Frogger. Nice work!
Thanks! I have heard a lot of comparisons to Frogger, and honestly, I looked it up and yeah xD I think I just made Frogger.
Great game! The controls for the game are a bit wonky given the perspective, but the mechanics are wonderful! The puzzle aspects are strong, and the use of the fly to navigate enemies around is a wonderful addition to the puzzles. I didn't realize there were notes on the ground until later into the level, they may be hard to see. Hope to see you work on this more!
Oh thanks! Oh, well that's alright. Yeah, I can see how the perspective is a bit funky with that. I'll probably not work on this anymore, I'm working on another game at the moment.
What a pretty lil' frog and fly,,,, I love them
It's a very interesting game and made me have to think my actions through. They have consequences...
I had trouble playing, but that's on me and my wack depth perception. I spent a while trying to figure out why I wouldn't grapple. I wasn't facing the block. :)
I have wack depth perception too so I get it xD Honestly, the only reason I am able to beat it is because I built the levels.
Wow! What a nice game. It took me a while to learn the controls. But the idea of the fly moving the enemies while the frog moves around is interesting. I would love to see you continue this game.
Thanks! A lot of people mentioned that they had a hard time with controls, so it's definitely not just you. I might consider continuing this but I'm currently working on a bigger project so y'know.
The style you have is priceless. Good work.
Thanks!
Cool game! I have to say, i think the space to move is a bit annoying, also if hoppy is behind a wall it's easy to lose track of him.
Thanks! I did the space so that you could aim your tongue grab instead of having to do a whole thing just to be at the right angle. And yeah, that's my bad, I probably should've added a rotating camera or something.
Loved the presentation and I don't know about anyone else but this game felt kinda of dark in a weird way I can't pin down. The big thing I think that would help here is switching to a point and click isometric view. the two things that bothered me were the camera getting lost and the controls being a bit weird. overall enjoyed I the game!
Thanks! I don't like point and click anything and I think that the fly mechanic would be much more annoying with a mouse control. I do think the controls probably could've been better done as well as the camera, but thanks for the feedback! Oh, and well, I'm not sure if you caught on, but there's a reason there's swords and guns lying everywhere. Just saying.
:D thanks! Yeah, I can see how it would be a little tricky. Thank you for the feedback!
This is fantastic! I am very impressed by how much you managed to make in such a short time! This reminds me of an old Frogger game I played growing up for the PS1 called Frogger: He's Back! You should check it out!
Thanks! I was surprised too xD I think I've heard of that one, I'll definitely check it out, but I don't have a Playstation. Make sure to leave a rating!
I really liked the aesthetics. The plot and the art is really cute. The gameplay was pretty good. The design was okay. The mechanics were a thought out pretty well, and I could see the inspiration from Mario odyssey for the merging mechanic. Hoppy and Betty work together really well.
As for originality, it wasn't the most original game.
Thanks for the feedback! Funnily enough, I've actually never seen Mario Odyssey; most my inspiration was off of Abe's Exoddus.
I don't even have words to describe how cute this is, the little phrases spread out throughout the levels are just the cutest! The way that Hoppy and Betty work together is great and it's progressively built upon and the same goes for the enemies, like when they start moving in the second level. And how each level has it's own distinct art style, amazing!
Well thanks! I really tried making this cute, even if I couldn't do much else xD Thanks!
