Very interesting idea and well executed!

I think the money per second upgrade cost should increase after every purchase, for balancing reasons.

At one point, however, the knights and my minions stopped dealing damage to each other, for some reason.

Nice name for the game ;)

More seriously I think the game is great (keep that in mind while reading this comment) but I found some bugs: The number of coins (images) displayed on screen doesn't correspond to the number of "coins left" (text). When there are multiple knights and that one of them die, everyone stop fighting, or at least they deal no damage even though the fight animation plays (it happens rarely, I couldn't reproduce the bug on command, sorry :/). When you restart after you lose, you keep the progress of the previous game.

The game is quite easy if you farm money during the early stage, at some point you earn more money than you can spend (even with spamclicking arrow) and with enough attack upgrades, with just one basic minion you can solo all the knights of a wave.

Also the the art looks great :)

Developer

Yeah, I didn't have time to fix all of the bugs. I think I also encountered the bug where everyone stops fighting, but it only happened once, so I kind of ignored it.

The number of coins displayed on the screen isn't a bug. When a knight collects a coin, another coin automatically respawns. The numbers just show how many other coins the knights have

I also got a lot of advice on the game being easy. It took like an hour to adjust the numbers so that the game isn't too hard. Definitely should've nerfed the money upgrades.

Overall, thanks for the feedback! And what a coincidence about our games' tiles!

It was a really cool game, nice art and fun concept

Hey really cool game! It drew my attention since it includes a bit of summoning like my game. Really well designed! I would love to see a more expanded version of something like this (I love watching AI type units fight each other).

Minor things is I think the game got a little bit easy if you rush money right away. 1st play I died round 3, but then second play I was overpowering all the knights and just stopped at wave 34 since with all my money I was so powerful! Also a tiny bit annoying with your guys spawning on either side, especially if opposite where the knight was going.

Overall though very cool! I liked it quite a bit! Good work!!

I liked this game a lot!!! In case you were wondering you got a 15/15! GG! I love it!

I ended up shooting arrows like a machine gun. Good game.

What a wonderful game for a 48hr gamejam! Great job!

A little confusing at first, but once I figured it out it got really fun and addicting to play!

Nice job, at first I was a little confused but once I got going, it was a fun game

Pretty good. It was a bit confusing at first, but I got the hang of it after the first game. Good job.

Really nice game, especially the art for axemans. Kinda easy, though

It's a fun game, but like other's have said the difficulty feels very steep. I think having a way to gain lives again would be nice.

Submitted(+1)

Very fun! It got a little repetitive once money and strength were high enough that you could end each round with a single volley of arrows so I definitely think the difficulty could increase over time - maybe more enemies and/or higher prices - but overall very nice for 48 hours!

Developer

Thanks! It was definitely hard adjusting the difficulty. I didn't want the game to get too hard and not be enjoyable.

I initially thought this was way too hard, but then I figured out you could increase your money at the start and basically break it. It is fun to send a swarm of guys onto the field against the knights. Cool idea!

Thanks for the feedback! It was a challenge adjusting the difficulty.

I really enjoyed this game, but you should make the uprgrades more expensive after a while

Developer

Great idea, thanks! I definitely should make the game a bit harder.

Fun game, very well polished.

Developer

Thanks!

Really well put together, reverse tower defense-sort of feeling. I wish I had a better sense of what to use when (other than trial and error), but the variety of options and the game space make for a unique experience. Very enjoyable jam game!

Thanks! I was thinking about adding more text to the buttons, but didn't have time. I just stuffed them in the description of the game lol

relatable problems :D

One of the best GMTK23 games that I tested so far. A bit too hard, but well polished.
I especially like the clear UI and the game's focus on a simple gameplay-loop.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Game does not launch (on firefox/windows)

Developer (2 edits)

Sorry about that! Try using chrome, pygbag can act a bit weird.

Good idea! I like the sprites. When there's multiple enemies it looks like they don't need to collect 3 coins anymore

Developer

Thanks!
