An extremely simple concept that was surprisingly suspenseful! I really tried to keep Henry's vitals in line and it had me on edge throughout the game's short run-time. This is a great concept that can be taken in an interesting direction of expanded upon!
I think I encountered a bug where henry just never stopped jogging. Other then that this was a super creative game with an interesting game mechanic and great art and interesting gameplay. Overall awesome submission. :D
This is totally possible, the code that is switching scenarios is not reliable. Normally he makes 4 laps, then proceeds to eat. I encountered bugs with skipping scenarios (sit in air before reaching park bench) and being stuck in them forever, as well, but there was no time to fix everything.
Thanks for your words, I'm very glad to hear that!
An interesting idea! I don't think I've seen anything else like it in the jam. I think this could potentially be developed into a fun (and dare I say educational?) full-length experience. Right now, it is a bit easy to accidentally kill Henry, and it's punishing to have to start over from the beginning. I wonder if you could work this idea into a sort of rhythm game or a clicker game? Cool idea!
Thanks! I really doubt there's something educational, I intentionally thrown away some anatomical facts as I checked them to make actual gameplay more meaningful and fun. But there's more to explore and develop in this game. I hope I find some time in the future to try it out! Thanks for your reply!
I really liked it since it has a nice concept yet it lacks a lot of UI and gameplay but all in all, Good Job! I would like to see this game further developed after the jam.
Thank you for your comment. I hope to develop the game further because there were ideas I could not implement in time, we'll see how it goes. Thank you!
you’re welcome!
Really like the game, it's a really nice concept. The only problem could be that since you have always to press one button players could get bored soon as I'm writing this I'm not bored yet. Keep doing like this and i hope to see this further developed after the jam
Thanks! Maybe I will develop it further, but I'm not sure when. There are ideas for indirect gameplay, like, extra oxygen can make Henry run faster, or lacking some health values can force Henry to go to a specific place. I'm glad you liked it, we'll see how it goes
Good luck on everything :D
Simple games that are addictive and have good gameplay. I liked it.
Thank you!
Original take on the theme. I found it a bit strange and abrupt that you die when you have too much oxygen though. Maybe you could have clarified this by increasing the sound speed, or by letting the meter shake once it is close to a fatal level.
Thanks for reply! Original idea was that Henry gets a vertigo for high O2, and every other extreme value also gives a different debuff. Entire death condition and screen are kind of a last minute fix. I must have tested it more in-depth. Sound pitch and shaking would be smart. Thanks for your ideas, it really helps me thinking forward!
On discord you said you wanted "strict and rough" comments, well, here it is.
First of all, Presentation. The game looks terrible. Henry looks terrible, the ground looks terrible, the house and the dogs too. This would have been excusable if the environment wasn't also completely empty. This is what really kills the game, just sprinkling some more trees and houses around the map, maybe some of Henry's model here and there as villager, would've done a lot to raise the score.
One thing doesn't look terrible, the heart. It's well designed, modeled and animated and also very cute. Henry's animations are also very exaggerated, which is very good because we often only ever see them from the corner of the eye while looking at the oxygen bar. So points for that there.
I like the idea of the gameplay, i like the idea of playing as a guy's heart. But with this amount of content it ends up mostly as "how long will it take before you get bored and lose focus". Probably ill-suited for a game jam, specifically. Also reading as you try to keep the rhythm is kind of a pain. probably should either pause the game while there's text popups or put them all at the beginning
Sorry if this is all somewhat mean. The animations are good and the heart puns show a distinct charm.
Thanks for detailed commentary
The game was not supposed to be like this, I didn't finish everything in time. So it's more of bad planning and pacing than bad decision making (which is still all shame on me, I know).
A lot of problems I'm totally aware of. It's good to see that my opinion on my game mostly coincides with a view from the outside, it means I'm on the right way. Text distracting from gameplay I only noticed after release, thanks for noting this as well.
I'll conciser your words and will try to make better games on the future, thank you!
so ambitious in such a small time. the game is super cute :)
Thanks. I now realize the idea might have been TOO ambitious, but here we are :) At least there's something cute to play. Thank you for playing!
haha i feel ya, 48 hours went by so fast! either way loved it . 5 stars ^ o^
This game is so cute- I love it! The tutorial was so well done, I had to come back after stream to play some more of it. Amazing.
Thanks for your rating! And thanks a lot for streaming my game as well! Liked your steam a lot
The game was good and the idea was also very clever.I was a bit confused with the oxigen mechanic at first but its really good. Good job!
Thanks!
Great idea! Great implementation! It was very difficult though.... I couldn't get past the eating part. Nonetheless I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for your reply! Don't worry, there's not much left after the eating part, you've seen most of the game!
Ayoo is this Randy's cousin?
Henry and Randy the Heart Buddies!
The game is fun and the presentation/tutorial is great
Thanks! I had plenty more of ideas, but time limit is rough. I'm glad what's in game is fun enough to play!
Funny game and cute models! I love the heart (maybe not Henry he's kind of stupid) moving around and the tutorials are up there in terms of polish. Good job!!
Thanks a lot! My first experience in full model-rig-animate cycle, I'm glad it looks nice and cute for you. Thanks!
very funny, good tutorial.
Thanks! I felt like tutorial is important here because mechanics are unique and not resembling another experience. I wanted make tutorial windows more consistent in terms of disappearing with progress (some still must be clicked away), but it's fine for amount of time I had.
Thanks for your comment!
I liked the rationale of why having a tutorial is interesting, I hadn't thought about that.
unfortunately I couldn't even put a tutorial in my game lol
I thought was a cute game, and then i killed Henry. Cool idea! could be easily expanded to a bigger game with different situations and jokes.
Thanks for reply! Henry wasn't supposed to die initially. The idea was that he would just feel bad and maybe lie on ground until you restore values, or wait for doctor with defibrillator that takes control and makes you play rhythm tutorial again.
When I ran out of time, I had to give extreme values some gameplay meaning, so adding simple death screen was the choice.
Very clever, laughed a few times. :)
Thanks for review!
