The idea is neat but the control of the ball doesn't feel very effective - doesn't feel like i have a lot of control over what's going on

I wish I had a bit more control...maybe hold space to speed up or release it to slow down. Also, I'm not sure which one I am supposed to let win or lose :D I seems I have to control the ball for both sides which indicates to me neither a win nor a lose condition. Maybe, if I'm helping blue and red also fetches after ball (which I thought was the premise but didn't really see it happening)

Developer

thanks for the feedback :) If you read the "how to play" section in the title screen, it should say that you have to help blue score against red. i probably shouldve made the text more appealing/readable lol

Submitted

Another way to reinforce it is each time red scores make it clear it is bad with ui and sound. Likewise, celebrate blue scoring. I thought that was the case but the feedback didn't reinforce it :)

Developer (1 edit)

yea i was actually gonna do that, but i wasnt able to due to time constraints :(

A very clean and classic take of the theme, very well done and very nice art + sounds. this really hard to get your mind to accept that you are the ball and not the players..

Nice idea, and the smoothed ball movement is very cool to look at and control! Also looks like something you could build into a full game by making the AI better. Also, simple minimalist graphics ftw!

Interesting concept, but I accidentally found out the hold a to win strategy from another comment, and that's pretty game breaking. I played it more normally as well, but it isn't as optimal and sometimes it doesn't seem like it moves despite me holding the direction. This game could work, and it might possibly even provide enjoyment when you do play it as intended in a way separate from actually trying to win, but the mechanics needs some work.

Pretty cool concept and great sound design with a lot of room to grow; one thing i would've like was a proper tennis scoring system (love, 15, 30, 40, the whole deuce thing, etc.), maybe limit when you can affect the ball to certain times (like when it is being hit back to you) (or maybe you could pivot to like saying wind is pushing the ball left or right, and then have the player use it and the wait for it to recharge); for a full game you could easily create a bracket with harder and harder ai as you go up

Submitted(+1)

Love art and the design of this game! the ai is a bit exploitable but if you don't abuse it it's really fun!

Submitted(+1)

this is super good!! the art is outstanding and the sounds are positively on point. I do agree with others about the game being too hard at first, but i did have fun when i learned what to do.

As others have said, SFX are great- love seeing other devs who put time into this part of design!

I found the game incredibly difficult at first, then way too easy once I found you can just hold A and the AI can't hit the ball, then hard again when I tried not to exploit that.

Overall, I found this game quite enjoyable and challenging. Nice work!

That was a hoot! It was fun trying to see the longest rally I could get them going on

Developer (1 edit)

Fun fact: i was actually gonna make having the longest rally be a different game mode, but didnt have the time to add it. i shouldve made it the main one lol

might replace it with the current gameplay as an update later on

Submitted(+1)

How about to add there a wind with changing direction later? :D

Sweet art, sound and gameplay. Well done!

Cool game with a lot of juice and satisfying sfx. Just a heads up- its basically a guaranteed win if you hold down left during your serve- the AI can't reach the ball in time!

Submitted(+1)

Was difficult at first but quickly became lots of fun once I got the hang of it! Well done!

Simple yep fun gameplay. It's a rip-off of official suggestion (the one with the pong), but with with tennis.

I absolutely love the animation, UI, but the font choice is horrible. So hard to read and doesn't fit the style of the art.

Developer(+1)

yea i realized that i kinda copied the pong idea sometime after i started working on the game lol ;-;

and i see where youre going with the font. theres a few places that are hard to read for me too

I Like The Game! I Also Found A Bug Where If You Hold A The Whole Time You Just... Always Score xD

Submitted(+1)

Very enjoyable yet difficult game! Nice work

Submitted(+1)

Fun to master, but mostly the winning strat is to hold right. maybe make the court a bit longer and fix the red guy's movement for a version 2. The art style was very pleasant and the sound effects were nice. Solid game for 48 hours!

Submitted(+1)

Well done! Had fun playing, impressive within the time constraint!

Submitted(+1)

solid game! great art. i love the blend of pixel art and 3d.  unfortunately u can win by holding down A the whole time, and thus, i didn't enjoy the game.

I enjoyed the game, but I feel like it needs some time to learn the mechanics. I must say the main menu screen was a bit overwhelming at first, but after I read through all of it, I understood all the game mechanics.

The game is fun, and I would say with some more gamemodes and additional polishing, it can make up to something pretty fun! :)

Developer

thanks :)

i tried to explain everything about the game as simple as i could in one page, since i didnt have time to make a proper tutorial, which is prolly why its so overwhelming

once the voting period is over, ill try to fix it up a bit and remove all the unnecessary info
