How does your game fit the theme?
You are a small rat scaling large buildings, in more ways than one! As you climb you grows if you let go of the building you shrink! Try to keep as small as possible, make it to the top!

Nice! I found the normal mode a bit too easy (can be cheesed [pun intended] by scaling in a spiral, always to the left or to the right) and the hard mode a bit too punishing.
Maybe something could do done about it, like adding obstacles other than boulders or floors that have restricted climbing of something. Of course, I understand that for a jam game that is additional content and mechanics that is hard to fit in the allocated time. Other than that, nice jam game!
No way ! I reached the top !!! I didn't expect to find that yellow thing there !!!
Well played simple mechanic but with good control and art design, loved playing it :)
Oy, who in the world are dropping rocks on my face while I'm trying to climb the skyscraper? Then again, I would probably do the same thing if a giant rat was running up a tall building.
Anyways, I had a pretty good time playing the game. I had trouble climbing up the building at first, but then I realized that I can hop off and climb to the other part of the building to shrink in size and cling onto the side of the building again to resume my climb until I reached the top. Great game!
Cool game! Your disclaimer that you added definitely helped me. I was able to get to about 250m. The art style you chose is really interesting as well! Kind of like a PS1 vibe to it. The thud's when my rat got hit were positively soul crushing. I felt like I was taking real life psychic damage every time I heard it!
We also made our game about scaling a tower, would love it if you checked it out!
The falling rocks are extremely punishing to be hit by, and its incredibly hard to dodge them when you can barely see them coming. Maybe some sort of way to angle the camera up (or just have a wider FOV) would help make it a little less frustrating?
Yeah I did already adjust the camera up so u can just about see the rocks at the top of the screen and also there is spacial audio so you can hear which way they are falling from, however maybe I made it a bit too harsh so I will make sure to make the camera tilt up a bit more post jam, thanks for the feedback! :>
Having to jump off the tower to manage your size seems like a tedious and cruel punishment. It just kills the flow when you have to bunny hop to stunt your growth.
The low poly visuals and CRT effect are awesome! The first time I got hit by an obstacle I feel like I got jumpscared lol. Maybe a more pulled out camera angle would have helped in that situation.
10/10 Made me feel like the giant rat that makes all of the rules.
Oh that's a really fun take on the theme! I like what you got going there, a few notes though:
- I think it'd add to the challenge and the comedy of the game if the rat was able to get bigger than 100%, making it harder to dodge obstacles and forcing you to take breaks from climbing
- Having other types of obstacles to force you to jump off would be a great way to tutorialize the scale down mechanics! I really like them, but if I haven't looked at the description, it'd never come across my mind!
- I feel like the game drags on a bit, I was expecting to be done with it around 200-300m mark, but it just kept going - this would be fine to me with additional gameplay diversifiers, but it's kind of monotonous after a while :p
That being said, I really loved the whole Silent Hill-esque presentation, the PSX graphics, sound effects - I'm especially happy to see you've got ingame instructions on how to play and audio feedback for hovering over menu buttons! Great job, overall :D
Thank you this is great feedback! Yeah on the hard mode you can scale a bit more to 200% which at max size will actually prevent u from moving up and instead will fall down from the weight, however I agree that I should have something in both normal and hard to help insentivise the player to move off more! The building is I think around 640m I think I could definitely improve the gameplay especially with more obstacles like u mentioned :)) Thank you again for taking the time to play!
